The movie takes into account most of scientific predictions regarding the greenhouse effect in Mexico City for the next 30 years, global warming and the eventual lack of fossil fuels: in a voiceover heard during Pablo's first arrival to work, the announcer says that average temperature is 45° C (115° F), which, for Mexico City, is quite a lot.
