    • This is a kind of teen movie.
Final Score - 5.5/10. A decent one time watch movie.

While this movie definitely contains all of the predictable teenage stereotypes, I thought it was entertaining enough. I was able to sit through the whole thing, and didn't feel like I had wasted precious hours of my life. On a scale of "ugh" to "OMG", it was a solid "eh". It won't kill your soul if you decide to watch it, but it won't enrich you either. It's mindless entertainment.

At the same time, the BIG secret that is to be revealed, as hinted at in the description, is, in no way, any kind of revelation. Any person in possession of a mild amount of intelligence would be able to guess how the movie ends.

Not a horrible movie, but not great, either.
  • This actually sounded like it would be good when I read the summary on my cable menu, but it ain't! This is a horrific "movie". First off, I never understand why screenwriters decide to have teenagers talk like complete idiots in teen movies, this is something that has been going on since the late 1980's. The writers take the "lingo" too far and the characters end up sounding like Nimrods. Nobody talks the way these kids do 24/7. I was a teen in the late 1990's, and they did this then in teen movies too, you would think that they had learned something since 1999, but no. There was a point where you could watch teen clique movies and enjoy them, the movies from the 1970's through the early 1980's are actually quite decent. The characters in this one have no gut, no core, they aren't fleshed out at all. They make it so that you couldn't possibly care about a single one of them. If they all died you would just shrug your shoulders. There were just a bunch of people running around and you never got to know them. They were really stupid too, and I've never seen such a misfit group. The bad girl is so lame, sideways hat and skateboard included. She's a nasty little chump, but would be an absolute joke in some of the Chicago schools. The script was clearly thrown together, they tried to make this out to be some suspenseful thriller. Where at? This is the kind of film that they should make suspects watch over and over again, they'll give up the goods just to end the torture.

Triple Dog follows a group of 16 year old girlfriends as they take part in an extreme game of 'Truth or Dare' called 'Triple Dog', which is where the film gets its title from.

Triple Dog is not ground-breaking, but still feels fresh. Some may judge it as being nothing more than a teen movie, but as the story develops, there are many hidden depths to it. It reflects aspects of what it is to be a 16-year-old girl and how peer pressure, fitting in and being socially accepted can become the most important thing in the universe, even at the expense of your personal well-being or morals. Within this I feel like the film contained a very valuable message and although the ending was rather predictable, it was a fitting ended and I appreciated it.

It has plenty of entertainment value as the characters took part in extreme dares, but there is also emotion attached to it. The characters face dares that are very personal and specifically chosen by their friends to humiliate them based on their values and personalities. Beyond this, there's an element of mystery that is interwoven throughout which takes the movie beyond a group of friends daring each other to do ridiculous and extreme stuff.

The characters had interesting dynamics and good chemistry which was interesting to watch and added to the intruige of the story. Unlike most others in this genre, Triple Dog, felt like it tried to give attention to the characterisation of the main characters and their relationships with each other.

Overall, I enjoyed Triple Dog; it's entertaining, has an element of mystery, contains valuable messages and is led by a bunch of decent characters in comparison to other films in this genre.

I cannot believe that I fell for the few good reviews that some gave this movie. Maybe they're drunk, maybe they were stoned, but they sure as well weren't sober if they watched this and think they were good.

Where do I start. A "rebel punk" chick, Chapin (that looks like she came out of a nickelodeon cartoon) attended a "best friend"'s birthday sleepover with a few others and ended up insulting the hell out of the event, called it boring, and threatened to leave if she doesn't get what she wants. And if that's not bad enough, she peer pressured everybody (whose lives might not be as bad as she made hers but she basically forced them anyway) into playing a silly dare game that involves public indecency, public urination, public disturbance, robbery, vandalism, illegal drinking, underage driving, and borderline prostitution.

Then as the movie goes, turns out a few years before Chapin stupidly dared someone to jump off a bridge, who then died, and that she felt bad about it (which was apparently the reason she "rebelled") And yet HERE she is, a few years later, forcing everybody to do the exact same thing. Not dumb enough?

Let's continue. She then later got angry at everybody because 2 people from her old school mentioned that it was her fault (for some reason her friends think it isn't) and that she caused the accident. Then, after 1 girl told her it was stupid to dare someone to do that, Chapin took that into great offense (apparently she has no common sense at all) and asked the girl if it was a dare. The other said "No, I'm not that dumb" and again, SOMEHOW, she took it as a dare. Then she jumped off a bridge in front of everybody (cause an attention wh*re needs an audience) and then somehow at the end we're supposed to feel bad for her?

This woman is the meanest, dumbest, most selfish ATTENTION WH*RE of a character I have ever seen. Who thinks because she feels bad about something dumb that SHE did, she earned to right to lash out and be a b*tch to everybody and expects us to feel sorry for her (she actually blamed her friends for not understanding for a moment). The world doesn't work that way, this movie honestly wasted my time and trust me, if I could, I would save you the pain and misery that I endured during the movie.

Watching a selfish careless little barbie doll who talks like an idiot for 1.5 hours is not fun.

    Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand all the bad reviews. Yes, it is predictable, and the acting is only okay, but if you're looking for something kind of light and a little silly, this is it. There are also a lot of complaints about the writing, but the lines are actually pretty accurate to how teens talk. I guess this is more of a teenage girl-type movie.

It starts out with Eve's birthday party. Three "Popular" girls are there, along with the school's "rat freak" and a transfer student from another school, Chapin. No one knows exactly why she was kicked out of her old school, except that is has to do with a freak accident involving a girl falling, being pushed, or jumping off a bridge, depending on who you asked.

They proceed to begin a game of Triple dog, an exaggerated version of Truth or dare where there are no truth questions allowed, only extreme dares. They then drive around the city and do a bunch of different dares, ranging from streaking to faking a seizure in a public place. This part gets a little tedious, but it is necessary to the whole plot.

Every once in a while there is a flashback to a few days before, and there are flashbacks to the night of the freak accident, portraying the different versions of how it happened.

We eventually find out what happened, and it is entirely predictable, but still sweet and kind of sad. Not Oscar-worthy, but still a cute little movie.

(not sure if these count as spoilers) I watched this movie on Netflix after it described it as a "thriller" about dark secrets coming out. The only thrill was when it was over and I didn't have to endure this awful movie anymore. The writing was absolutely horrible. The dialogue seemed like a 40-something man trying to write for teenage girls. It all came off as very awkward, and not at all realistic. The plot was boring and predictable. But despite these glaring flaws, what really bothered me was the character of Chapin. This girl is shown throughout the movie to be a callous, mean-spirited little troll of a person, and the movie expects us to feel bad for her. Time and time again, this character goes out of her way to make life miserable for those around her, simply to have something "exciting" to do, and it makes the viewer feel nothing but loathing and resentment for her. And her so-called "redemption", really just makes you hate her even more for being so stupid. If you like insipid, trite teeny-bopper movies like Twilight, this should be right up your alley. Otherwise, steer clear.

4.6 out of 10? This movie was so fresh and unique. The acting was strangely very good, and the depth to the plot was, for me, totally unexpected. When I rented this, I suspected I would be able to handle maybe half an hour before turning it off, but I was so wrong.

The director had very minute attention to detail and it really showed. I liked the way that the shots were framed and found the camera work to be near perfect. So yeah, maybe the ending wasn't a complete surprise but the way everything came together was what made this movie a hidden gem. I found the final 10 minutes to be genuinely authentic and emotional.

It's a shame this was marketed as a teen thriller with a silly title and DVD cover-work because it was much more like a psychological drama.

The movie had a great plot and great acting just kinda curious on how when the girl is in the water it looks deep and she is completely submerged but at the end of the movie you can clearly see the bottom #bad graphics.

OK so honestly now, did i see the same movie as everyone else? this is the first review i have ever posted because i am utterly shocked that people actually thought this was remotely watchable. the best review is the one that mentions that this one isn't for twilight fans, implying that this piece of garbage is better. though i haven't and will not view twilight, i can't imagine that something like this could be thought of as intelligent. the reviews that mention the great acting and character development....i mean really, is this the same movie. triple dog? the one with the bad girl (you know she's bad cause she wears her hat cocked to the side and the music gets edgier when she's introduced), the rich girl, the catholic girl, the rat girl...yeah she carries around a rat, the slutty girl, and then the main character that is i suppose, the nice girl. not only do you not care about these characters, but you hate them. and then there's the surprise twist. wow...i can't believe i sat through all of this. i want my 95 minutes back! if people believe this is a quality movie, mankind is doomed. so bad....really, if you're thinking of watching it, do it! cause it really is that bad. honestly, i am really nervous that people think this is good. utter drivel! you can find more tension and drama on old nickelodeon shows.
  • This movie still hasn't been released in the US, at least not in wide distribution, and that is a shame. Despite the 2 (so far) 1 star reviews, that appear to have been written by the same person, this is not a bad movie. The characters are a bit stereotypical, but, name a teen movie where they are not. And, frankly, the teens in this movie are far more believable than in most teen films. Part of the problem might be that this film seems to be categorized as a thriller, and it definitely is not. It is a coming of age movie. I like that the characters do develop over the course of the film. And, while it is hard to empathize with the main character, Chapin, in the beginning, by the end of the film I did. I am also a Brit Robertson fan from her work on the TV series 'Life Unexpected'. And, why this film got an R rating is beyond me. Oh, and this film passes the Bechdel test(look it up if you have never heard of it). That may be the reason for the unhappy reviews.
  • I'm not much a fan of these movies with major of cast of teenagers or teenage girls, yet after watching Tormented (2009) and John Carpenter movie The Ward, also if it has lot of profanity and other typical teenager stuff. The girls plan on doing a game of dares no matter how challenging or illicit (like shoplifting, streaking, faking a seizure in public place, have sex with a guy), otherwise one's head gets shaved completely (bad for a girl), at one's birthday party

All the while, there's that whole mystery element surrounding the death of girl named like Stacy St. Clair who drowned in a river whether it was an accident, suicide or if she was pushed over a bridge in a fight, with several speculations in flashbacks. Eventually, it turns out she did jump...as she dared to, and Chapin guiltily feels responsible that she nearly does the same.

As for cast, I've seen Britt Robertson in Wes Craven's Scream 4 as Marnie Cooper while she plays some punk tomboy named Chapin - decent performance memorable scene when she steals from shop after creating an explosive diversion by microwaving can of beans. There's Alexia Fast as pretty birthday girl Eve who's a new friend to Chapin, Scout Taylor Compton - who I've seen in April Fool's Day remake, Laurie Strode in Zombie's unlikeable Halloween movies, and 247°F (friends trapped in sauna) as outcast girl Liza who carries pet rat for a friend, weird and gross. And, Emily Tennant is female cast member I focused on the most, as shy girl Sarah who was dared to streak on the street.

And the ending credits "Waking" by Hayley Taylor is good finish. Overall, quite a likeable movie.

This movie literally made me laugh at how bad it was. These fake reviews for the movie are even funnier. If you're into movies with mediocre acting, awful plot line, and lingo that is straight out of 2004, please watch this movie. Basically, there are these lame girls who are bored at a sleepover, so one of them, Chapman, decides that they all play this game called Triple Dog. Basically, some girl ends up diving into a river and another shaves her head (this was the best part, hilarious). Being a teen myself, I've never heard of such stereotypial characters with no moral compass or common sense. These characters' personalities are literally one dimensional, paper thin, and a real lack of any direction from the director. It sucks, but it's funny how much it sucks, so watch it to be ironic (but not really).
  • I always chose truth...and I could never play triple dog dare. Dare without the truth or the fun.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Thankfully I found out about this film due to the involvement of Scout Compton because I don't think that I would've watched this film had I only have seen the title. It's quite the cliche film that you know where it's heading but it doesn't stop the enjoyment of that journey. The concept of this film is simple, yet totally effective, and it works. And I can also see many teenagers playing this game, or at least a version of this game at some point. I will say that the only thing that annoyed me was the flashback sequences of Stacey St Claire due to the colouring of those scenes, especially the one with the butterfly, it felt a little cheesy to me, but overall, quite enjoyable.
  • I'm not too sure which movie the other person saw, but it surely wasn't this one. This movie couldn't have had more dismal char's in it. I see absolutely no reason why they were even together to begin with. None of them even seemed to like one another, let alone be involved in a sleep-over with one another. If you have any liking for movies of ANY type, I would surely pass on this one. If you do dare to watch it, be prepared to be extremely disappointed. Your not going to care about any of the char's. Or even care if you finish the movie. Don't waste your money or time on this worthless piece of movie trash.... I realize this may seem a bit harsh, but I was extremely sorry that I even began to watch this....
  • I watched the movie for free on tubi. No clue of the quality, but watched anyway. Feel free to glance other reviews regarding nuts & bolts of movie's twists and turns. My impression of the movie was favorable. It had an old school vibe with pretty decent acting & character development. The scenes were shot very well. The movie kept me curious & guessing. Its often difficult to create characters to care about, but the writers pulled it off nicely. I warmed up to more than one actor. Its clearly not a blockbuster movie, may even qualify as a good tv movie of the week. All in all, I enjoyed the movie. The music was also fitting, and careful placed to evoke emotion when needed. Enjoy!
  • I feel duped by the other reviewer who left their comment, this is overall a bad film and poor entertainment. Please do not waste your time. I waited for the surprising twist that was hinted at, and I really wish I hadn't.

All the actors are bad, giving very weak performances. The characters are all one-dimensional and stereotypical - you have a catholic prude, a 'crazy wild child', prime and proper girl, the freaky outsider (Rat Girl?), they're all in there. No real character development or exposition, you feel no sympathy for the main characters and you don't care what happens to them.

The film is predictable, within the first 20minutes you pretty much know the 'twist', don't bother staying around after that. The pranks are dishwater dull.

    The ending was awful. Truly.
  • I don't know where the negatives are coming from, as this was a great movie. This film was very watchable, and very enjoyable. It wasn't a normal teen drama, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to watch, and it dealt with adult themes as well as teenage issues. I'll admit, it was very different from what I normally watch but I'm glad I watched it. There were some very funny moments, as well as some very human moments.

The actors did a great job, and never seemed false or wooden. They seemed as natural in the role of teenagers as I've seen really. Each of the main characters developed realistically over the course of the night portrayed in the film, anything more would be over the top.

I'm suspicious of the strongly negative user reviews saying that the acting was 'weak', and wonder about deliberately false reviews. The negative reviews couldn't be more wrong, and are probably designed just to sink the movie for cynical commercial reasons.
  • On the birthday of Eve (Alexia Fast), she welcomes her friends Sarah Algrenn (Emily Tennant); Cecily Girber (Janel Parrish) and Nina Spalding (Carly Mckillip) at home. Out of the blue, the outcast Liza (Scout Taylor Compton) also comes to the party and later the troubled student Chapin Wright (Brittany Robertson) joins the girls. Chapin feels bored and proposes a "triple dog" game, where each one of them is challenged to do something bad. If the girl refuses, she would be head shaving. The girls spend the night playing pranks until they learn the truth about the suicidal jumper Stacy St. Clair (Julia Maxwell), who had jumped off from a bridge and found dead miles away.

"Triple Dog" is one of the awfulest films about coming of age that I have ever seen. The story is stupid from the very beginning, with teenage girls that have problem of relationship among them gathering and playing an absolutely silly game. This is not the only film that I see with this kind of game and I can not judge whether it is popular among American teenagers but it is so pathetic that the plot can never work.

Brittany Robertson is gorgeous and acts well, but the screenplay does not help her. However, the worst is the quantity of fake reviews to mislead the IMDb Users. I found strange how a viewer might like this flick and I found that most of them belong to people with only one review to promote "Triple Dog". My vote is one (awful).

Title (Brazil): "Verdade ou Conseqüência" ("Truth or Consequence")
  • The thing is, if you go to IMDb (Internet Movie Database), the definitive movie site for All movies, you will see Many negative reviews for this movie. This is because with a title like Triple Dog (I Triple Dog Dare You), you tend to expect content along the lines of "Saw" meets "Mean Girls".

But actually it was just a Very well acted coming of age movie; the "Dares" were all really rather lame, but they all monumentally contributed to the film's continuity and meaning, and established what was important throughout, that is, "what Really happened to Stacey St. Clair"....

    I Highly recommend this movie!...
  • The premise sounded interesting but it was nothing but a vapid film that had no point at all. Could have been a decent film had it gone in a different direction. Total crap.
  • Nothing thrillerish about it. Just teenage girls trying to be cool. Full of teenage girl drama. So if you're into that....

    I'm not
  • Bad acting, illogical scenarios, and stupid actions. This movie was just terrible. Only gets a one star because of the work put in to make it. Even still what a production crew this was.
