Agent Strahm is dead, and FBI agent Erickson draws nearer to Hoffman. Meanwhile, a pair of insurance executives find themselves in another game set by Jigsaw.
Had the lowest opening weekend of any "Saw" film in the US, only making US$14.1 million.
During the shotgun carousel, the rules state that 4 of the riders must die, and that the ride will continue until all 6 cartridges are used. But after learning that the cartridge is still spent in a safe direction after saving the first of the 2 required people, it seems an obvious choice for William to just use the 'safe switch' mechanism to save everyone else. Once all 6 cartridges are spent, unless the shotgun is reloaded by 'Jigsaw' the gun is perfectly safe.
SPOILER: There's an extra scene after the end credits: Amanda comes to the door of the place holding the little girl (the one that Hoffman "saves" at the end of Saw IV) and tells her "not to trust the one who saves her".
Also available in an unrated director's cut version, which restores deleted scenes and the violence originally cut for an 'R' rating. A new scene after the end credits is also added.
