- Also available in an unrated director's cut version, which restores deleted scenes and the violence originally cut for an "R" rating. A new scene after the end credits is also added.
- Despite the R-rated theatrical cut only being available on DVD and in 4:3 "full screen" format, online streaming platform Vudu has this cut in its original 1.85 widescreen ratio and in high definition. Aside from this, rental-exclusive DVDs of the film (such as from Redbox) featured a widescreen transfer of the R-rated theatrical cut, albeit in standard definition.
- The theatrical version released in Spain almost year after the original R-rated version was rated "X" and ultimately pulled from distribution is known as "Montaje del Productor" ("The Producer's Cut"). Only two scenes were trimmed to appease the levels of violence and gore: the ending of the opening scene, depicting Simone cutting off her own arm in order to survive the game, was drastically reduced, and Strahm's crushed remains after the ending of "Saw V" (2008) are never shown.
- As per usual, the film is available in two different versions, the original, R-rated theatrical cut, and a slightly longer Unrated home video release. Runtimes (rounded to the nearest minute) are, respectively, "1h 30m (90 min)" and "1h 32m (92 min) (Unrated Director's Cut)". The difference in lengths of the two, however, does not tell the whole story, as some scenes are removed from the original cut to allow for the addition of scenes in the Director's cut, which includes a new scene after the end credits. Also, unlike the usual practice, the Director's cut was not for the primary reason of extending violence or gore, but rather changed the emphasis and direction of some scenes. Finally, the original was first released on home video in Fullscreen format, while the Director's cut used Widescreen (the original was later also released in Widescreen).
