Slow narration, clumsy screenplay and lack of seriousness in characters played puts the movie LAW into an average category.Ragini, who played lead character in this movie should have done her acting prep properly.Second half is just a deliberate watch after you're revealed with main twist at the interval. Overall, it's a below average movie if you're a thriller genre freak.
  • When u have a good story ..U should come up with Excellent screenplay. But this films lacks it. Bad narration spoiles all the Thrill. For first hour I was like wtf is going on ..And it was Deviated totally in second half. We can count One fingers how many good scenes r there. And more over I thought it was a free remake of Section 375. U could pick original story and make a remake man ..atleast it would he good.As a fan of thriller genre it was okeyish (not worst) for me. If u r not then it's waste of time.
  • Started watching it with great expectations as prk productions are famous in producing quality movies like kavaludaari, mayabazaar etc. But this is a crap. The lead actress is pretty but she has delivered a below average performance. The storyline is somewhat like copied from other movies. The movie genre is crime thriller, but it has definitely failed to thrill the audience. The screenplay is worst in the entire movie which makes the movie dull. It would have been an average watch if the editing and screenplay was good.
  • Nothing interesting or entertaining or thrilling in this movie.
  • The movie had potential. And it's a good one-time watch. Better than the masala Bollywood movies anyday.

Like I said, it had potential. The suspense is not very opaque. If you are a fan of thriller and suspense you can easily detect the camouflage in the first few scenes. I knew that there was more to Nandini's claims than what was shown which made the twist in the interval, not such a grand reveal because I had pretty much guessed it.

What they could have done was, like Andhadhun, expose the mystery in a cavalier manner, as though it wouldn't make a difference if the audience guessed the plot or not. From here they could have taken the second half in a much better place than it eventually ended.

I like the fact that they did justice to the title. The court scenes have an authentic quality to it, unlike regular movie court scenes.

They could have the ending better. It felt a bit anticlimactic and unbelievable that the mastermind Nandini would resort to killing in the courtroom.

A good outing by PRK productions and Raghu Samarth. Ragini Prajwal holds her own for her debut. The veteran Kannada actors give the movie it's direction.
  • I had so many expectations from this movie as soon as I got to know that it has been produced by Puneeth Rajkumar. But, in the initial 15 minutes itself I got to know that that the director has not made fully use of the opportunity that he got. It is so sad to say that, I was not able to watch the movie for more than 30 minutes. My expectation is next on French biryani because it is produced by Puneeth Rajkumar and has Danish sait. Let us hope for the best.
  • Story is good, but director have add more intresting story to it. Ragini Prajwal's acting is very poor. but its first time so its ok.
  • A decent one time watchable movie. But it has pale writing. And cinematography is average and acting doesn't reached up to expectations and narration could be better. Overall an average and one time watchable movie.
  • The concept chosen is good. But won't thrill you much.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie without checking any reviews as i believed PRK productions won't make a movie that is substandard. That's not true but realized after watching this.

Plot : Hindi movies like Article 375's story line + Jolly LLB's court sequences (I'm sorry to even compare court sequences of Jolly LLB with this) + few other movies put into a blender to produce coarse mix and presented to the audience.

Casting : Mandya Ramesh's absurd character and stupid comedy that gets on nerve at the start of very few minutes of the movie. It is shame on the director to have made an actor and a well-known theatre artist like Mandya Ramesh to play it. Then actors like Avinash, Achyuth Kumar and their characterization looks very pale and easily any other actors could have played it if not for them. Court scenes involving Mukhyamantri chandru is just a poor copy of Jolly LLB. Adding to this, those silly jokes by bailiff (person standing next to the judge) about the judge. I wonder what made director think he could make such a ridiculous script and screenplay. Finally, protagonist - Ragini Chandran. I just feel sad for her as this is her debut movie. I am very sure, for a debut, she deserved a better movie or this movie with better script and screenplay. As a protagonist, an experienced actress should have been casted.

Winding up my review, i would rate this movie - 2 stars - one for Vaasuki Vaibhav's music and another one as complimentary gift of Ragini's debut acting.
  • Law is Kannada-language thriller (subtitled) that opens with a stereotypical take on incompetent, almost Keystone Cops-like misogynist authorities' reaction to a young girl, Nandini (Ragini Prajwal), claiming to have been gangraped. She, however, is a law student, so the proceedings get complicated and hardly as ludicrous as the opening depicts.

As the investigation unfolds, it's almost as if the infamous Indian paternalism, represented by the ignorant cops and a father denying his daughter help, has faded away, and the title is the real subject: Did the three young men really rape her or is her perseverance about revenge more than her pursuit of justice?

After the absurd opening and then the impressive proof Nandini, representing herself, presents against the three, the film settles into the shades of grey inherent in any court drama, with motives as moving as observable evidence. Director Ragu Samarth has a sure eye for cutting between the suspects and sufferers even if his cuts are too quick and flashbacks unhelpful because of the speed editing and his desire not to reveal the outcome too soon.

Along the way, the trial becomes the most fascinating part of the film with counterclaims and plot twists keeping the audience attentive and emotionally torn. Although there is a bit of Bollywood music and song and a share of absurdity, the heart of the action is truth and its service to justice.

Besides the sometimes-grating music and the rapid speech patterns of Southwest India, Law, like the series Law and Order, has much more than evidence and truth-it is exposing the weaknesses and depravity of humanity, together with a hope that honor will out. Not always, but those weaknesses make for frequently fascinating storytelling.

Law is part of the streaming Amazon Prime package.

Don't go by the negative reviews on this movie. Most of them can be for different interests. Nice movie, nice story and a good way for Kannada movies forward. The acting, screenplay and direction is awesone. Do share your verdict after you see the movie.
  • The script of the movie was good. I hope it is not a copied script and is an original make.

But the entire movie was poorly made. The screen play was terrible. Some of the characters were overacting like the Police SHO. This overacting was very cringe to watch.

1st half of the movie was pathetic to watch. I wanted to discontinue to watch the movie as it is poorly made. I anyway continued and 2nd half was decent enough. I'm not a film expert but I definitely think this movie could have been presented better even with low budget.

Overall I would say it is a good movie badly presented to the audience.

But I'm rating it 7 as I appreciate the attempts being made in improving kannada film industry.

Movies released from PRK productions has been promising to look forward to.

    Good luck for future ventures
  • Warning: Spoilers
It is not a nail biting thriller. It has strong story but they failed to narrate that. Acting, cinematography, narration are average. This is average film. Songs are bad. Totally it deserves 5 stars
  • In this movie it seems like fresher cinema graduate did this movie They have to improve in their acting skills , screenplay, direction , and as well as sense of humour (bad joking)
  • Poor acting, slow pace in the screenplay.. Not upto the mark!
  • There are movies that have weak scripts and yet somehow the editing and cinematography makes it watchable! This movie has a typical rape and murder mystery with revenge saga but fails miserably in almost every single aspects! Overall! DON'T WATCH.
  • Law - The first direct OTT movie for Kannada industry directed by Raghu Samarth. He has to tighten his screenplay. He has left loop holes in the script. But content wise it has lot to offer. He had all ingredients and but could not cook it properly. A law student (Ragini Prajwal) comes to police station and complains of she been gangraped at midnight. Police inspector does not take it seriously and blames her why she was roaming in night and we need to punish your parents. Mean while her Dad comes and ask her to take back the complaint and forget the incident and lets go home. But she says I want to fight. Her dad tells if you want to fight it alone. She finish the procedure and police asked her to come in the morning for medical test. She comes back home but she wakes up after two days. Mean while his dad goes to police station gives bribe to inspector for not to conduct proper medical Check up. Investigation was not going anywhere. She visits her Lawyer-Guru and discuss the case. After frustration she takes the social media and appeals for justice. Due to media attention case transferred to crime branch. Bramha appointed as investigation officer. He investigate and catches the criminal and puts them behind bar. The criminals have political background and puts pressure to close the case on higher authority. Brahma advises higher authority let the case go to court and we can extract more money as there is a loop hole in it. Why did Ragini Dad bribe police officer? What happened in court? Does really gangrape took place? To know watch it on Amazon Prime.

PRK production debut with Kavaludari-brilliant thriller and continued with Mayabazaar 2016 with next project. Content wise both were good. This also has content but Raghu Samarth failed to execute it. Cinematography is poor. Editing is not done properly. Every now and then block out the screen for transition is irritating to watch. Ragini Prajwal for a debut has done good job for this hard hitting character. Raghu has wasted the talent like Achyuth, Sudharani and Avinash. He fails to establish the characters properly. Movie appears to be cut pieces. Mandya Ramesh as station officer done well. Good to see Mukyamantri chandru on big screen in judge role. His character has shades of Jolly LLB 2 judge. Rajesh Nataranga as a defence lawyer done good. But writing has let down Mu. Chandru and Rajesh. It could have been a good court room drama. Why did Sudharani give such report? There is no proper argument and counter argument. Music by vasuki vaibhav is a let down. Since it is on OTT you can watch once when you are free.

Nice thrilling movie... a must watch movie... new talents have worked well in this movie..
  • Stupid movie with no research and full of flaws and exaggerations! Couldn't watch beyond 30 mins
  • The movie concept is very good, that is the only reason i have given 2 stars. Else zero. What is actually there in movie? Nothing.! The main role itself is not so strong and no acting skills at all. 0/10 Direction is dumb. 0/10 Cinematography and camera work is totally horrible. 0/10 Jokes in serious situation by Mandya Ramesh sir, in opening scene is irrelevent.

    Total movie presentation-👎

  • The subject and the plot of the movie are very much serious and suitable for a court room drama but the screenplay, editing, direction and cinematography have failed big time. They ruined the mood of the film by inserting cheap comedy and unnecessary scenes in the first half. Editing was so bad that few scenes were left uncut, repeated emotions and dragged scenes were plenty throughout the movie. Direction and screenplay were so bad that the twists werent executed well and they have failed to hold the viewers attention till the end. Cinematography is on par with the short film makers but this subject needs better presentation. They just failed to give what the story wanted.Coming to Screenplay its so untidy that we will not know which scene is happening in the present and which one is happening in flashback. Having said that we can understand the budget limitations and lack of audience diversity in kannada cinema but after selecting scripts like these one has to compromise on few things like comedy. There is no scope for comedy and if it is there, it must have been more serious and lighter one because you tend to get annoyed when even judge and his assistant cracks jokes about judges wife in front of the rape case discussion in the court, theres just no honesty towards the story they have selected. Looking forward for more good cinema from Kannada.
  • Watched this movie and within the first 20 minutes you can probably understand why I am saying this. This movie is a perfect example of what goes wrong when you could have a reasonably good script in hand but not able to narrate it and struggling with weak acting...The film survives to some extent because of some of the notable actors in the industry.

Honestly good that the movie was not released in theaters as it would have been a financial disaster for the producers
