A failed reporter is bonded to an alien entity, one of many symbiotes who have invaded Earth. But the being takes a liking to Earth and decides to protect it.
This is Production Designer Oliver Scholl's fifth comic book film, after Batman Forever (1995), Elektra (2005), Suicide Squad (2016), and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).

Eddie wears a ring on his left forefinger. When he's watering his plant and when he's walking to Drake's rocket while talking to Venom there are a few shots where his ring is on his right forefinger. It's because the camera is mirrored. His hairstyle is different too.
At the end of the closing credits, a preview of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) appears.
The theatrical release featured an extended clip from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) as a post-credits scene. It was however not included in the internet version.
