Yesterday, The Wrap had the scoop on who would play Jonathan Kent in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, and now they’ve got the inside story on Martha Kent as well. The outlet reports that Neva Howell has been cast as Martha Kent in Superman, joining Pruitt Taylor-Vince as Jonathan Kent. Together, the pair are the human adoptive parents of Clark Kent.
As with Taylor-Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell will be the latest in a long line of actors who have played Martha Kent in movies and television, including Phyllis Thaxter in the original Superman movie, Annette O’Toole in Smallville, Eva Marie Saint in Superman Returns, and Diane Lane in Man of Steel. Howell’s credits include Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Long Haul, Logan Lucky, October Sky, and more.

According to The Wrap, Pruitt Taylor-Vince has been cast as Jonathan Kent in James Gunn’s Superman. I can’t say that’s who I expected to play Clark Kent’s adoptive human father in the movie, but I’ve always been a big fan of the actor, who has appeared in everything from The X-Files to Deadwood to The Walking Dead.
Pruitt Taylor-Vince will join the long line of actors who have brought Jonathan Kent to life in movies and television, including Glenn Ford in the original Superman movie, John Schneider in Smallville, Kevin Costner in Man of Steel, and many more. As I mentioned above, Taylor-Vince might not feel like the obvious choice for the role, but he’s a true talent and I hope fans give him a chance.

Get ready to taste it all over again. James Gunn took to Instagram over the weekend to confirm that Peacemaker season 2 is now filming its first episode, which he later clarified was a Saturday “pre-shoot.“

A post shared by James Gunn (@jamesgunn)
Just like the first season, James Gunn has written every episode of Peacemaker season 2, but he won’t be able to direct as many this time around as he’s in the midst of directing Superman. “Yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some),” Gunn said last month. He added that that will be “three other great directors joining me for the season.“

Keira Knightley & James McAvoy Once Opened Up Their Atonement Love Scene. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Keira Knightley is one of those actresses who fits perfectly in a period film; her filmography is significant proof of that. She has given outstanding performances in her movies, and the actress selected one of her best intimate scenes on screen. It was with James McAvoy in their film, Atonement. But the X-Men: First Class actor had a different opinion about their passionate lovemaking scene.
The 2007 romance drama was based on Ian McEwan’s novel of the same name. It featured McAvoy and Knightley in lead roles. Saoirse Ronan played an integral part in the movie that was directed by Joe Wright. The film was nominated for multiple Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Ronan. Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are currently in the process of picking up the pieces and reconstructing the MCU after back-to-back failures. They are placing their entire theatrical focus of 2024 on Deadpool & Wolverine. With the hope of reinvigorating the brand with the film, expectations are high and there is a huge pressure to deliver a great Marvel film in a while.
Deadpool 3 is the only theatrical MCU release of 2024
With Deadpool in the mix, the MCU is going for a hard R and a plethora of jokes making fun of the brand are to be included in the film. One of the film’s stars, Karan Soni, who plays Dopinder in the previous two films, has teased that Ryan Reynolds is taking full advantage of the film being a part of the MCU, even taking playful jabs at Kevin Feige.

Redhead Caleb Landry Jones got lucky on his first audition, at age 17. His father took a day off from work and drove him from Garland, Texas, to Dallas for a try-out, then to Austin for a callback with the Coen brothers, for a role as “the boy on the bike” in eventual Best Picture Oscar-winner “No Country for Old Men” (2007). Little did Jones know, as he launched his acting career, that he would join the ensemble on “X-Men: First Class” (2011) or win Best Actor at Cannes for playing a mass murderer in “Nitram” (2021), or that one critic would dub him “a menacing oddball character actor.”
When I read that quote to Jones over Zoom, he paused for a moment and said, “That sounds Ok to me. I heard ‘actor,’ so that sounded good.”

Chicago – In one of the more unusual film releases of late, Caleb Landry Jones and Jojo T. Gibbs are the feature lead actors in “Dogman,” opening in Chicago on March 29th and wider on April 5th. Written and directed by Luc Besson (“The Fifth Element’), the film defies convention in a story that is multi-faceted and symbolic.
The DogMan is Doug (Caleb Landry Jones) and as the movie begins we see him busted by New Jersey law enforcement, where they find several dogs in his truck, and he’s also in drag as Marilyn Monroe. Wanting to get into his motivations, they put their psychiatrist Evelyn (Jojo T. Gibbs) on the case, and she begins to unravel the DogMan’s life, which includes childhood abuse, paralysis and Shakespeare. He also has a psychic connection to the dogs he keeps, using them as an army to protect and do break-ins for him.

Judd Apatow was not happy with Warner Bros. Discovery’s decision last year to license a handful of HBO original series to Netflix. Many shows including Insecure, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Six Feet Under, and Ballers were licensed to the streaming platform. Apatow described this move as scary because Netflix could buy around older shows and stream them to their audience, rather than investing millions on new shows. However, X-Men writer Zack Stentz couldn’t agree with Apatow’s views.

Many of us were excited about the prospect of The New Mutants a few years ago. The sales pitch of an “X-Men horror movie” sounded like a match made in heaven. As often happens, the film that was released was far more of a pillow fight than the cage match I’d hoped for.
But as we excitedly embrace the kid in us with the release of X-Men ’97 on Disney+, I couldn’t help but imagine a more adult side of that universe. What if the X-Men franchise embraced the opportunity to lean into the horror genre? I’m talking about the body horror of its mutants, the cruelness of its villains, and the potential for superhumanly violent finishers that would make Mortal Kombat blush. With all that in mind, I took a look through the original X-Men films on a horror scavenger hunt and found some pretty cool trinkets along the way.

X-Men ’97 Spoiler Alert: Fans of Cyclops Would be Disappointed Again After Watching This Marvel Show
X-Men 97 has finally started by dropping two episodes, and the fans are delighted to get their favorite animated series back. The original X-Men: The Animated Series was a massive hit among Marvel fans. It formed an essential part of many people’s childhoods and was also one of the primary reasons behind the popularity of the mutant team among non-comic book readers. However, an interesting take on the latest series may disappoint some fans.
A still from X-Men ’97
Cyclops is one of the primary characters in the X-Men franchise. He has been one of the most fan-favorite characters in comics, movies, and the animated show. However, Cyclops was not handled well in Fox’s live-action X-Men universe. Countless fans looked forward to seeing Scott Summers return in X-Men 97 to lead the team. But it looks like the show may take a different route and can disappoint the fans once again.

Based on Frank Herbert’s acclaimed novel, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films have raked in commercial profits besides enamoring the viewers with a deft adaptation of a colossal source material. Previous efforts in getting the novel(s) brought to the big screen had rendered the premise largely unfilmable.
It’d be wrong to affirm, though, that all attempts to ‘film’ the saga fell short, as in 2000 and 2003, two three-part miniseries on the Sci-Fi Channel saw the triumphant adaptation of Herbert’s first three novels—a feat nothing short of remarkable.

At the core of the second series, Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune, was a young, pre-breakout James McAvoy, who played Paul’s son Leto II Atreides. Ahead of Villeneuve’s first Dune film, reflecting on his experience as a part of the on-screen Dune ethos, McAvoy gushed about the filmmaker’s interpretation of the material.

Marvel’s First Family is finally on its way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four hitting screens in 2025. From the ashes of Tim Story’s two noughties movies and Josh Trank’s maligned Fantastic Four, here’s hoping it’s third time lucky for Reed Richards, Sue and Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm.
Boasting an all-star cast of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the team is up there with the arrival of the X-Men in terms of MCU hype. While recent MCU entries have faltered at the box office, Fantastic Four has the potential to go all the way. The question is, has Shakman learned from the mistakes of the past, or will this be another rinse-and-repeat introduction of the iconic superhero team?

Taking to his Instagram to make the occasion, Gunn stated;
“Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on Superman today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday.
When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was Superman. Making our way to you July 2025.”

James Gunn took to Instagram to celebrate the first day of principal photograph on Superman: Legacy, except, that’s not what the movie is called anymore. The new title of Superman: Legacy is now simply… Superman.

Ladies and gentlemen, enjoy your first look at James Gunn's "Superman." Given that it's Superman's birthday, director James Gunn decided to share the first look at the much-anticipated reboot of the franchise, which is due to hit theaters next summer. Previously titled "Superman: Legacy," the film stars David Corenswet ("Pearl") as our new Man of Steel. But Gunn, in revealing our first look at the hero's new suit, also revealed the new, shorter title for the film. Check it out:

Not many people have seen "Madame Web" and an even smaller slice of the moviegoing population like the movie.
It stuck out to me that star Dakota Johnson seems to be under the impression that the film was set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I don't know if this is Sony Pictures feeding the actors and/or their agents misleading information or if movie stars like Johnson (understandably) can't be bothered to learn the nerdy logistics of these franchises.
Still, this got me thinking how the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn't have a "no previous superhero roles" bar to entry. Oscar Isaac, who played the villain in the disastrous "X-Men: Apocalypse," was then recruited to star in "Moon Knight." Christian Bale, a generation's Dark Knight, played Gorr the God Butcher in "Thor: Love and Thunder" because of his children's pleading.
In "Madame Web," Sydney Sweeney plays Julia Cornwall, the future Spider-Woman.

Amid all the controversy about how James Gunn seemingly sacrificed The CW’s Superman & Lois series just because Superman: Legacy will soon be hitting the market, Gunn is trying his best to win fans’ hearts back. In order to do this and keep their anticipation, he is taking to his social media handles to share updates about the upcoming film every now and then.
James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy (PC: DC)
One of these recent updates saw the co-ceo of DC Studios sharing a selfie from the sets of the 2025 scheduled film. This picture included the confirmed cast and crew of Superman: Legacy along with James Gunn and Peter Safran themselves. It's official. The Marvel Cinematic Universe will welcome Deadpool into the field with this summer's "Deadpool & Wolverine." Opening July 26, 2024, the sequel will bring the unabashedly R-rated character into a larger franchise that is usually PG-13, recent official incorporation of the TV-ma Netflix shows notwithstanding.
Deadpool as a big-screen character originates with Fox's somewhat convoluted "X-Men" franchise, but it's also apart from them in significant ways. All two "Deadpool" movies include references to different stories and characters within the franchise. Even aside from that, the X-Men movie timeline is by no means clear, with different casts in different timelines of the past, present, and future. You could watch all 13 of them in order, hoping for clarity, but you may have trouble finding it. However, if all you're concerned about is what you need to know about Deadpool from his movie appearances, and maybe a little bit of Wolverine, this is the article for you.

The industry has been blessed with innumerable big names over the years. It’ll be difficult to count the number of gems Hollywood has produced, with each big name having to his credit a crazy fandom. But amongst the galaxy of big names, there is one which stands out. There are many who have a star of their name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But there’s only one who has inspired the game, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
Kevin Bacon was making a name for himself
Kevin Bacon had already carved out a name for himself in the 90s
It’s the 1990s. The decade might be one of the most illustrious decades in the history of Hollywood, witnessing the release of all-time favorites like Forrest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption, Goodwill Hunting, and Schindler’s List amongst many other films. And Kevin Bacon was emerging as one of the promising stars in the industry.

After his 1984 film Footloose, Kevin Bacon felt uncomfortable with the fame—especially being called a “pop star.” Bacon talked about how there was a lot of attention on the movie once it became a hit in 1984.

Footloose (1984) was the film that put Bacon into the limelight. In the film, he plays Ren McCormack, a dance-loving teenager who moves from a big city to a small town where rock music and dancing are verboten. Critics had different opinions about the movie, but it did really well at the box office.

There’s some confusion flying circles around James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, with Egyptian-born entertainer Bassem Youseff saying he was fired from the project after showing support for Palestine during a Piers Morgan interview. According to Youseff, DC Studios offered him a role as a villain in the upcoming superhero spectacle. The official reason given for Youseff getting pulled from the cast list is a script change, but “the Jon Stewart of the Middle East” says the missed opportunity aligns with him showing support for Palestine in an interview.
However, a source close to the production says Youseff’s timeline of events needs to be corrected. The source says the decision to pass on Youseff’s involvement happened before the Piers Morgan interview.

It’s likely only a matter of time before Dave Bautista officially joins the Dcu, but who should he play? James Gunn took that very question to fans over on Threads, and there were quite a few interesting responses.
One of the most popular responses suggested that Dave Bautista play Hugo Strange in the Dcu, the scientist and criminal mastermind who was one of Batman’s first recurring villains. Another popular choice was Mongul, the tyrannical ruler of Warworld who can go toe-to-toe with Superman. Other comments suggested that Bautista would be perfect for characters such as Darkseid, Bane, Kilowog, Mr. Freeze, Atrocitus, or even Bibbo Bibbowski.

Dave Bautista recently told ComicBook.com that he would love to work with James Gunn again, whether it’s in the DC Universe or something else. “I just love James Gunn.

Aaron Stanford is returning to the MCU, as it was revealed in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer released during the Superbowl on Sunday. He is reprising the role of Pyro which he portrayed in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.

Agent Argylle couldn’t crack the box office code.
Matthew Vaughn’s globe-trotting spy comedy “Argylle” sputtered in its box office debut, earning a dismal $18 million from 3,605 North American theaters. The movie, backed by Apple and distributed by Universal, cost $200 million to produce and is shaping up to be the year’s first big misfire.
Despite terrible reviews and lousy audience scores (it holds a 35% on Rotten Tomatoes and “C+” on CinemaScore), “Argylle” ranked No. 1 at the domestic and global box office. The film added just $17.3 million from 78 international markets for a worldwide tally of $35.3 million.
Vaughn, the filmmaker of “The Kingsman” series and “X-Men: First Class,” intended to turn “Argylle” into a trilogy. But those grand plans are looking a lot less likely at this rate — unless there’s a dramatic uptick in ticket sales. Bryce Dallas Howard stars in “Argylle” as the reclusive author of a popular series of espionage novels.

Argylle director Matthew Vaughn wonders whether James Gunn and Peter Safran should be making casting calls for films they aren’t directing.
In a few years’ time, we hope James Gunn gets to look back at his new-look DC Universe without regrets over the creative choices behind his shared universe of superheroes. Given that Gunn has put out three wonderful Guardians Of The Galaxy films for Marvel Studios, you’d think that might be enough to earn him some credit with fans. Instead, Gunn is finding his every decision questioned and disseminated.

No contenders have emerged yet, but “X-Men: First Class” and “Argylle” filmmaker Matthew Vaughn would highly consider it as he’s a self-proclaimed “Superman nut.”
Vaughn recently appeared on BroBible’s “Post Credit Podcast” and expressed both interest in directing Alcock in a “Supergirl” movie and confusion over the order of the film’s development.
“I’m a huge fan of Milly Alcock. Huge fan,” Vaughn said. “Met with her for this other project we’re working on — she turned me down, which was sad. She’s a fabulous actress. Then again, I do...

Matthew Vaughn’s globe-trotting spy comedy “Argylle” is targeting $15 million to $20 million in its opening weekend. Those uninspired ticket sales will be enough to top box office charts and dethrone the “Mean Girls” movie musical, which has spent three weeks at No. 1.
Universal Pictures is distributing “Argylle,” which was produced and financed by Apple for $200 million. It marks Apple’s third big-screen bet following Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” (which debuted to $23 million) and Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” (which opened to $20.6 million). As with those big-budget tentpoles, though, it’ll be complicated to assess the financial results of “Argylle.”
Of course, Apple doesn’t want to be associated with underperforming blockbusters. (It would take roughly $500 million in global ticket sales — a threshold that less than 10 films have reached in 2022 and 2023 — for a movie of this size and scale to break even at a traditional studio.) But Apple...

Things are bleak right now at the box office. January only had a few wide-release movies led by "The Beekeeper" and "Mean Girls" to help keep theaters afloat. There's been a significant downturn in ticket sales and the industry can ill-afford such things after the pandemic decimated theater owners. So, who is coming to the rescue? The hope is that it will be Matthew Vaughn with his latest spy flick, "Argylle." Whether or not audiences will turn up in a meaningful way for the original blockbuster remains to be seen.
The film hails from Apple Original Films and will eventually make its way to Apple TV+. Fortunately, much like "Killers of the Flower Moon" and "Napoleon" before it, Apple is giving this one a wide theatrical release, with Universal Pictures handling distribution. In the early going, the numbers appear to be so-so for this one. "Argylle" is currently expected to...

Matthew Vaughn says he knows a “few snippets” about Deadpool 3, and argues that it’ll save the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There’s lots of anticipation surrounding this summer’s Deadpool 3, not least because it pairs Ryan Reynolds’ title antihero with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. One person who’s really excited about Deadpool 3, though, is director Matthew Vaughn, who’s enthused about the superhero sequel in an interview with BroBible (via Variety).
According to Vaughn, Deadpool 3 will be not merely good, but ‘unbelievable’ – such that it’ll “save the whole Marvel Universe.”
Before we get too carried away, it’s worth pointing out that Vaughn hasn’t seen the film itself yet – it only wrapped filming on the 24th January, so it’s probably little more than an assembly cut at present. Rather, Vaughn has gleaned a ‘few snippets’ that suggest to him that Deadpool 3...

Argylle Director Matthew Vaughn On Deadpool 3’s Impact On The MCU ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
With Marvel’s dwindling situation at the box office and overall content-wise, all eyes are on Deadpool 3 now. Ryan Reynolds has proved to be commercially successful in the previous two films, and this time, Hugh Jackman is also returning as Wolverine, hence double the excitement. Others also believe this film could be the saving grace for Marvel, for example Henry Cavill’s Argylle director, Matthew Vaughn.
For the unversed, Vaughn directed the X-Men: First Class movie in 2010, which had a cameo of Hugh as the clawed Mutant. In 2014, he was one of the writers on X-Men: Days of the Future Past, which had the full-length role of Wolverine. The director seems to be really excited about watching Wade and Logan’s banter on screen. Keep scrolling for more.
