  • Octonauts is one of my daughter's favorites. It is fun, mildly educational, but at times you want to cringe. Early on, the Octopod is on the wrong side of Mexico from the Caribbean. They state that they would have to go all the way around South America to get to their destination. Apparently the Panama Canal does not exist in their world. It is either that or Captain Barnacles is too cheap to spring for a one way ticket through the canal? This whole movie seems like a vehicle for Dashi.
  • Why didn't they take the Panama Canal? It still would've been a good adventure.
  • Warning: Spoilers
    Disappointed when:
    • Barnacles have claustrophobia out of nowhere. If you watched the original episodes, Barnacles have been in tight spaces situations a lot and shows no sign of claustrophobia.

    • Just by falling into a hole doesn't make you claustrophobic.

    • Barnacles and Peso can only wait for Dashi and Kwazzi to rescue them.

    • No heroic climatic action for Barnacles.

    • Fee like an excuse for new GUPs to appear, which I can't even remember since it's so insignificant. What's the GUPs for, really? Toys?

    • Barnacles was way too timid in this movie.

    • Barnacles and Peso was way too risky to swim in a rocky underwater caves (Sac Actun) without proper equipment without properly contacting the Octonauts back in the base (They could really wait or swim back to base). Which is suicidal. Not a good move for two experienced divers.

    • Underwater scenes (not counted in the caves) look worse in this movie. I understand the movies was done by a different studio, but be better.

    • The pace was slow, and feel like its a short piece of script, but being dragged out to match the time enough for a movie.

In the end, I was really disappointed. Be better, pretend this movie doesn't exist and watch The Rings of Fire, which is the only movie worth watching among three of them.

My daughter and I LOVE the movie. It's just as fun as the show. Watched it 3 times the first day it came out. Only complaint is that Panama Canal wasn't mentioned as a way to get to the Caribbean. I guess there wouldn't have been a movie if that was used and we wouldn't have learned about the senote. It's a kids cartoon after all!
  • Vibrant colors. I found the story was dragging a bit. Then again, the public intended for the show ( my 3.5yo) son loved it. I like how each character was able to show a different aspect of their personalities. It was nice to have the adventure take place is a cenote/ cave exploring setting
  • Wonderful series for kids with characters from different countries all working together, accents included. This episode contains two iguana lizards voiced in a Cheech Marin accent warning the Octonauts that "not everyone who goes into the cenote comes out of the cenote".
  • My two year old is a die-hard Octonauts fan. She thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and loved the addition of the spulunking koala. I appreciated that they showed it's ok to be scared, but you have to find courage to overcome your fears (thanks Barnacles).
