Pushing fifty, Gianni, a confirmed bachelor, is still living with his capricious mother in their dilapidated apartment in the centre of Rome. As the debts keep piling up, Gianni's landlord, Alfonso, makes an equally beneficial offer: if Gianni agrees to look after Alfonso's mother during the Ferragosto, Italy's most important summer holiday, he will forget about the bills. However, before long, not one but two abandoned mums set foot in the already cramped apartment. Will things work out in the end?
