a well known story told once again
It starts with a recreation of the ax fight. Sister walks into town but Charlie Chin fights a gang first. Sister then fights with her magic suit case that dispatches fighters by its mere touch. Next, men talk at the rich guy's house. Thugs then beat up a waiter at the tea house. Sister intervenes but doesn't use her suit case. She learns of Ma's death by the ax gang.

In the movie industry if something works you beat it to death. In 1972 Shaw Brothers made "Boxer from Shantung" starring the great Chen Kuan-Tai as the hero Ma Yung Chen. This was quickly redone as "Ma Su Chen" by the also great Jimmy Wang Yu. A sister was also added. The common theme is the hero dying in a glorious battle against the ax gang. Killing him a third time was too much even for the movie business so this movie sends in his sister for revenge. In this version, Sun Yueh is the traitor. It is shown he stab's Ma in the back and that was the injury that did him in. He lies about it to sister but she figures it out.

Overall this is mandatory viewing for the hard core fan of the genre. Otherwise I can't imagine anyone else even watching it. I feel generous rating it just average for the year.
