| Solid but very short
Quest for Booty is a standalone addon to Tools of Destruction and it works as a little extension of the story arc. Generally, it provides more of the pirate theme found in the "main game". Quest for Booty is very short, meaning around 3-4 hours of playtime (I played through it within one day). Thus, everything seems condensed and sometimes rushed. There is almost no character development at all and the side activites and minigames were cut completely. You just visit a handful of mostly pirate themed locations that are pretty straightforward and don't provide many secrets. The gameplay itself focuses a little more on typical platforming and puzzles than the games that came before it - you don't have any weapons apart from your wrench for roughly half the playtime. While the change of pace felt refreshing to me, I didn't like how weapons were handled. They are exactly the same ones as in Tools of Destruction and upgrading them doesn't feel like it makes a lot of difference. The game introduces two little gameplay mechanics that work well but are a little overused. The trademark humor returns but some of the series' coolest characters are missing. There is also no incentive at all to replay the game, since it is extremely linear and does not offer any type of New Game+ which may surprise fans of the Ratchet & Clank series. Technically, the game is as good as you would expect it to be - I'd say it as good as Tools of Destruction. It even has better lighting but shows less variety in the environments. I loved pirate infused music but the sound mixing is just as flawed as it was in Tools of Destruction (voices are sometimes almost inaudible, ambient sounds are far too loud in some scenes). Conclusion: If you like the series, played Tools of Destruction and can get this one for less than 10 bucks, give it a shot. But if you are no Ratchet & Clank fan, this addon won't make you one.
