The creator of this show literally said he didn't want a spin off...and you guys made it after he passed. Literally just a disrespectful, ignorant, inhumane cash grab. Screw Nickelodeon for this, let the man Rest In Peace.

Well, where to start? I won't give it a 1 because they actually did make a show with decent production quality, but it can't get to a 3 because it just isn't good. Personally, I would have turned it off, but I wanted to actually give it a chance to not just be a negative Nancy.

This show has little to nothing to do with the original world of Patrick Star hanging with Sponge Bob etc. This isn't even really about Patrick in the years before he and Sponge Bob are neighbors, its about Patrick Star doing a TV show from his parents house with a sister we have never hear about and parents we have never seen.

Sponge Bob is in the 2nd episode, but it doesn't flow at all with what we know and love about Sponge Bob & Patrick. Its kinda about Patrick's 'show' following him & Sponge Bob getting a job and it is simply NOT FUNNY.

Personally, if you wanna laugh, simply watch old episodes of Sponge Bob and get a real laugh, you will thank me saving you the pain of this show. Also, I no longer watch any new episodes of Sponge Bob, as they have destroyed the show the last 3-4 years. The newer drawing & action style is just horrible. Compare an episode from 10-20 years ago to what they make now and you will understand.

    Ehh
While the animation is good there really isn't anything of value here. Comedy reliefs just don't work as leads. Even with one episode out so far it already feels repetitive the show is completely aimless with its surrealist humour that goes no where.
  • I'm probably not the target audience for this show, but I watched Spongebob growing up so I believe I can give some good perspective. I got about 15 minutes into the first episode before my brain couldn't handle it anymore, it takes variety show wacky zaniness to a level that it really shouldn't. To start, there was no tangible plot to this episode beyond "I'm hungry." This show has no soul and no creativity, the humor and bits are what I can best surmise as "this is what science and experts have told us kids enjoy, therefore we will load a 20 minute episode with as much of this as we possibly can." The animation is clean except for the editing, transitions, and facial features and reactions. They animate funny faces onto the characters every 30 seconds or so, enough so that it was detracting from any dialogue I was attempting to listen to. It is objectively a bad show, I absolutely do not recommend watching it.
  • Nothing in the show makes sense, I understand it is a kids show, but I doubt it would last for so long. The animation ruins it, its not relatable to SpongeBob. I would not recommend.
  • I understand that this is a separate show from spongebob, however it took all the worst aspects from the original show and made it into its own. Patrick is the silly comic relief in a clever show. This is just stupid punchlines without the buildup, and nothing that happens makes any sense. Yes it's a kids show, but kids aren't stupid and that's why the smart writing (especially of early spongebob) worked so well. If this show came out without spongebob as it's predecessor I doubt it would last half a season.
  • Nickelodeon seems to be trying to run spongebob into the ground at this point. There was no reason for patrick to have a show of his own and this is a perfect example of why.
  • Guys i've seen some pretty wild sh**in my years of watching animated tv shows but this one is just pretty awful. No words besides " Look what they did to my poor boy "
  • Uncle grandpa but worse and 0 procent of the original spongebob kept.

It ruins Patrick's legacy, and is a disgrace to spongebob. Patrick has never been the sharpest tool in the shed, but this show makes him look like a complete idiot. I also can't see kids learning many new vocabulary of lessons from this show. Disgraceful.

This is a great show. Comedy and fun. People who don't like it aren't keeping up with the times when it come animation. Some won't get it, others will.
  • I actually sorta enjoy this show, and I find the rating pretty low, I am a fan of post sequel spongebob so this show is like that but even more random, yeah this show it's mostly just random things happening on screen everytime, which at times it's annonying, but other times it's pretty funny, so it's hit or miss, I had a lot of fun with some of episodes (like Stair Wars or Gas station vacation) while others aren't that funny (like The Yard Sale or Bunny the Barbarian that aren't awful, just mediocre) so overall I give this show 5-6 (enjoyable, but not that great).
  • While Patrick is a great character (most of the time), he's best in small doses, as he's a comedy relief. Too much of those types of characters can get frustrating to watch. That's why Planet Sheen failed and why Cars 2 was critically panned.

He's meant to be a sidekick to SpongeBob, so he can't really support a show by himself. I find the show rather uninteresting and slow.

There are some positives to the show though. I like the designs of Cecil and Bunny - much more unique and fun than Herb and Margie from "I'm With Stupid" -- who I often forget even exist. And the animation is still great. Besides, it's only in Patrick's imagination, so none of this is canon.

I think I'll just stick with the main SpongeBob show. The least I can say is this is miles better than Kamp Koral.

Sorry guys I really can not describe the ridiculous and boring and not funny this series. Watching this show is just a waste of time.

Nickelodeon You destroyed enough Sponge Bob. Finish it Now.
  • Warning: Spoilers
The Patrick Star Show is clearly what I thought it would be as I watched the first episode. This is once again why Stephen Hillenburg didn't want any spin-offs from SpongeBob SquarePants. But Nickelodeon always uses marketing as an excuse to their advantage to do it anyway.

Now that I got the elephant out of the room, what is this show like? It's just Patrick being a dingus for 11 minutes. There's never really an actual story for each episode. There's not even a joke that I found funny either. It was announced officially that this show would have no rules and it tries to do that random = funny concept, and it is just poorly executed. Patrick can basically just do whatever he wants in a reality where anything can happen, and it's confusing and boring. This show has no grounds or boundaries and the fact that Nickelodeon wanted to say that this show would have no rules just tells me how much they're not even trying anymore.

Modern-day Patrick isn't even funny in general as seen in the original SpongeBob show. But here he only has one trait and it's being obnoxiously dumb. The other characters are all wrong. Patrick's family are all breaking continuity even for a stand-alone series. We all know that these aren't Patrick's parents since we met his real parents in the original show. His adopted sister Squidina is a bit annoying and we've met Patrick's big sister Sam in the original show. Sure, he did once say he didn't have a sister in the classic seasons but the way the original show went made him and also the audience realize that he did have a lost sister all that time. And why is this show even a spin-off if it uses the same cast just as recurring roles? SpongeBob, Squidward, Plankton, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, Gary, Pearl, and even characters like Man Ray all appear regularly in this show, it lacks originality. If I haven't said it enough every new character mostly from Patrick's "family" are just starfish clones who act just as obnoxious and unfunny as Patrick himself.

Anyway, the animation is even a problem. This show does the same thing I hate about the animation in the modern episodes of the original SpongeBob series. There are just way too many overly exaggerated facial expressions and close ups on characters for no reason without even catching a break. This makes the show visually far too absurd to watch since Patrick is already bouncing off the walls continuously. We just can't have an animation style that calms itself down.

Despite Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, the voice acting is sub-par. Some characters just sound straight up annoying and some just sound like you've heard them several times elsewhere in the original series. There's nothing really creative even about the voices in this show.

And this can't be seen as a show inside of a show when characters are made to look younger if this is what the show was trying to go for instead of a literal prequel. If it is meant to be a prequel, then it fails because of the noted continuity errors.

This whole show just feels like a slap in the face to SpongeBob fans, Stephen Hillenburg, and people who loved Nickelodeon two decades ago. This just shows how less Nickelodeon could care about their cartoon creators and more about the money. It's such a shame that nobody will just wake up already.

First of all, I love the animation! The animation is a tiny bit different from spongebob but still, amazing animation! Unfortunately that's all of the positives I can think of for this show. I get how people like this show, and I say that I respect your opinion. Now I'll give my opinion! I watched the first episode and was a bit disappointed. The writing is a huge part of what makes a show good and this show doesn't do it very well. This show doesn't have Patrick's parents from "I'm with stupid" which kinda makes his new parents confusing. And this show makes no sense! I get it, It's Patrick's show. But this show is just always random which may be funny for a couple minutes but quickly gets annoying. And this show does that for the entire episode! I didn't like it that much but if you did like it, that's awesome! You can have your own opinion and mine shouldn't make you change yours! Have your own opinion, that's a good thing!

Really aimless and silly show it can never be in the same league as spongebob squarepants.
  • We watch Spongebob seemingly 24/7 in this house. My boys 6 & 8, and myself, really enjoy it. This spin-off is pure dreck. It's boring, follows an inconsistent character storyline from its predecessor, and just falls flat. My 8yo has no desire to watch it at all and my 6yo excitedly asks to watch it on Fridays and a few minutes in picks up his iPad to watch something else. Says a lot to me if it can't hold the attention of kids.
  • When I was a kid my parents could watch SpongeBob with me and enjoy it I tried watching this today and there was no enjoyment to be found and I am basically their age.
  • What a shame. Greed destroys. I am a huge fan of SpongeBob and I will never get into the spin off. Why ruin a great thing? I guess sometimes in life you have to learn hard lessons.
  • This review will probably get bombarded by dislikes because god forbid anyone say anything positive about this show on this site. But i love this show alot. Its so off the walls and insane. I also love how this show manages to do something different yet still feels like spongebob. I also love the family aspect as well, patrick's family is very loving and hilarious in their own right. With bunny and cecil being dumb yet loving parents, grandpat whose a granky yet wise old timer, and of course squidina, patrick's sister and producer on the patrick star show, who has a adorable dynamic with her big brother. The animation is spectacular, but that's the norm for new spongebobs and i love the dream hoppers inspired backgrounds. This is definitely a spin off from a dumb character done right, all you need is good direction and good characters to balance it out, which show definitely delivers. So if you just want a show that takes you for a wild cartoon ride, then hop aboard the patrick star show. Also ignore those rumors.

Patrick Star was always there for his pal SpongeBob since day one. But did he really have to torch passed onto him like that? This show is pretty wacky and it can get funny, but only sometimes.

There's no sense of continuity from the pre movie days and Patrick has a different family he gets into randomness with. Examples include getting an urchin stabbed on your head as your alarm clock and babysitting your idols as babies.

Despite all that, Patrick's show is not that bad. It's a nice distraction for your kids while you peacefully cook dinner, take a nap in the summer sun, and other adult hobbies.

My toddler is a huge fan of Spongebob and so he was excited when he heard there was going to be a spin-off of Spongebob starring Patrick. I understand that it's a kids show but it was very dumb. I could barely sit through the whole episode with him. Spongebob is way better and I don't see the Patrick Show lasting for very long since it's just not good.

    Warning: Spoilers
Firstly, this goes against the wishes of the creator of Spongebob, Stephen Hillenburg. He was against spin-offs, sequels, prequels, whatever. It was meant to only be Spongebob Squarepants and that's it! Nickelodeon we're announcing spin-offs and stuff before Stephen's body was cold.

We all know that Patrick is not the brightest character in Bikini Bottom, but they've depicted him as a complete moron. Also, they've not followed any form of continuity with the original Spongebob story as Patrick's family is NOTHING like it is meant to be. Those aren't his parents, and that isn't his sister.

The show is nothing more than a pathetic cash-grab. Do not spoil your idea of Patrick by watching this show.
