  • The plot and story feels like the BO1 sequel we never got Gone are futuristic plots and high concept tech, instead we get a grounded mostly well written and performed Cold War piece of fiction, the vibe fits, it's beautiful to look at and plays well.

The writing is a massive step up and probably the best COD campaign in at least 4 years (IW had a great campaign and nothing else)

Level design is varied and intuitive and puzzle solving with random generated codes to crack to complete side ops adds a good layer of interactivity and makes you think.

This isn't a mindless shooter, it tries to push some new ideas and come cool concepts. While clearly bogged down by activision's rules for what they can do and the recasting of Mason and Wood's VA's is horrendous.

Overall it delivers what treyarch has not in 10 years

A quality and replayable campaign that can thoroughly grip the player from start to finish.
  • Good game to try Compared to other COD's this got a good story as well as new kind of gameplay Which revolves around choises as well as the questions asked.

    Missions were totally good.
  • A very fun game, one of the best parts of Call of Duty, the development of the story was wonderful and one of the best stories in Call of Duty. The problem of the phase of the story was short, the zombie phase was very bad, the multiplayer game was amazing and I really enjoyed the game, I recommend buying the game.
  • I will give a parents guide to this, This call of duty is worth the buy. I loved the multiple options in the single player campaign. I thought the campaign was the star here. It was great. In terms of age wise, this game knocks on the adult side. Some infrequent but strong language and some brutal violence. Minimum age 13, recommended 14. Not as violent as original blackops. Gunplay is fantastic and the multiplayer actually better than MW(2019). Multiplayer actually has moderate violence and if you are only doing multiplayer recommended age 12. If you want zombies(almost no one plays zombies) it is a bit more brutal and a minimum age of 14. It starts of scary and brutal but then you get magical guns and swords and then there is no blood and it gets very comical. This is worth the buy and a great game!
  • Great campaign story, the multiplayer isn't exactly on par with black ops 1 or 2 but the multiplayer is infact still quite decent. The zombies is also great would recommend buy it now.
  • I am going to split this up into sections for each mode of the game

CAMPAIGN (No spoilers) it feels like a more boring watered-down version of Black ops but I am not saying it is bad it is a proper sequel to Call of Duty Black ops and has still a awsome story they definitely took their time on it but it can get boring at times campaign 7/10 Pretty-Good

MULTIPLAYER The multiplayer is really good but feels boring and the guns do not feel as satisfying to shoot as in Modern Warfare 2019 but has awsome map design probably the best since Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer 6/10

ZOMBIES Call of duty cold wars zombies is a masterpiece it is a more expanded and more fun version of world at wars zombies called die maschine with many more maps coming soon it never gets boring and has to be in the top 2 best zombies in Call of Duty Zombies 9/10 - masterpiece

    Overall 7/10
  • I like how they brought back the 80's! This is one of the best call of Duty games along with Modern warfare 3 and Advanced warfare
  • Remember when it used to be sort of an "event" whenever a Call of Duty game came out every year? I can't help but feel like this franchise is becoming almost an obligation for consumers to get every year just so they can say they've gotten it. The development of this was known to have been a mess and it really shows, and the fact gnat it was developed during a global pandemic did it no favors. The zombies mode here is among the most bland and banal to date, I don't understand how the zombies mode seems to get worse with every installment. The campaign is pretty great though, and the story it tells is a fun ride that harkens back to the goodness of Black Ops and Black Ops 2, and throws in the cool surreal aspects of Black Ops 3. The voice actors being changed for no real reason is somewhat lame. The multiplayer is the same thing you've played before, nothing has changed.

Can this franchise please take a year off? If Assassins Creed can do it I don't see why Call of Duty can't. The series is becoming over saturated. Activision has devalued all of its other franchises to focus on this one and when one of these not only "disappoints" but outright flops, I cannot imagine the catastrophic result that'll have on the company. Then again, considering the workplace culture they have, maybe they need just this sort of reckoning to change.
  • Good campaign with many different styles of mission and weapons good story action and characters. A enjoyable game. have not played the multiplayer so don't know about that.

I was bought this game for Christmas.... And thank god I was!

Campaign: the campaign for me is a 10/10. At first I thought it was ridiculous; tackling Iranian terrorists in Berlin, killing Russians in Vietnam, a Rambo type called 'Woods'. However, as I battled my way through the KGB's very-own 'any-town USA', 'Hit me With Your Best Shot' being blasted into my ears, I realised that maybe COD was just trying to have fun. I ended up in love with it. Did not like the ending though.

Multiplayer: the multiplayer I found to be a 6/10. It's a lot of fun and I find it to be a casual experience, (no toxicity as of yet) however it is plagued by in-app purchases. What, I want to go on the battlefield as Rambo dressed in a ghillie suit made of risotto or something? No thanks! Not payed a penny and I'm fine.

    Zombies: I give this a 9/10. Must I explain? Dude. It's zombies.
  • One of the best campaign's we've had in years. Amazing and rich storytelling, as good as the Black Ops 1 campaign. And it blows Modern Warfare's 2019 campaign right out of the water. I hope we get to see more Campaign's like this in the future.

The Campaign is worth playing but the Multiplayer is horrable. The game has only 8 maps and none of them are anything special(in my opinion).
  • As a long time COD Player, I was completely disappointed. COD has gone the way of fortnite, which is a crap game, and have stopped catering to those who actually spend money on the game. Please take a step back and make better Story Modes that take more than 3 hours to beat, and stop remaking old maps!!! Step away from warzone like you guys said you were going to and get back to what made COD great. Until then, count me and about 25,000 of my followers out.
  • Warning: Spoilers
...all i gotta say the story was enjoyable until you get an option to kill beloved OGs Mason and Woods!...and instead of Blaze of glory you take em out like Npcs like wtf were they thinking??.Nah this ain't it chief!...you get a new character to kill recurring characters like nothing it's lazy and downright disrespectful smh 7/10
  • Its really great game the zombie is amazing because you don't get bored fast because there is a-lot to discover campaign best experience more better than the mw campaign and bo3 campaign also as multiplayer its good better than bo4 and mw multiplayer kinda cause mw is only good at search and destroy but bocw has good experience with other mods tdm and ffa and more

    Thats my thoughts 🖤
  • The beginning of the game is not all too special, it seems like ActionVision thought that making another game in Vietnam would sale but they didn't put much quality into it. The characters are not likable cliches of the time period and the game play is just like any other modern Call Of Duty. By the end of the game I have had a change of opinion, it stepped up by the end of the game. The story telling went from bland and repetitive to something from a Bio Shock game, in fact I would even say ActionVision did rip off Bio Shock, but it kinda worked. Is this game the best? No, but it still will hold its own. The game would have been a lot better tho if it didn't have hit markers though, I despise hit markers, I don't need to have an X shape thingy pop up when ever I shoot an enemy, it takes away from the game play. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 didn't have hit markers, and it's better that way. I would honestly give this game an 8 if it weren't for those autism inducing X shaped emblems. The game is worth a look into for its campaign, not as twisty as the first game but it will throw you off.
  • Making the player health higher was a huge mistake people eat bullets like a fat guy eats Mac and cheese, rockets do nothing, expect 20 bullets to kill and to get cross mapped with an mp5

This game was unecesary for the Black Ops franchise it wasted the potential for an amazing campaign with Woods and Mason and just added them to make sales. A horrible story with no point. Boring multiplayer that had potential at the beginning. Zombies was good even though it didn't get much maps.
  • Was on the fence a while about buying this but couldn't be happier I got it the campaign was superb and different most missions were extremely immersive and unique, The multiplayer is also great just feels like how COD should be back to its roots, Finally a COD that actually feels like a part of the series really don't understand the bad reviews get the game you won't be disappointed.

For the first few months of it's lifecycle this game was incredibly underwhelming. It had hardly any launch maps and only one zombies map. BO3 also bad only one but it had the excuse that it was shadows of evil which is a great map. And the operators for the first 2 seasons were simply uninteresting and boring for the most part. Finally towards the end they decided to give operators more personality, make zombies maps, and add multiplayer maps and modes that are actually very fun. Unfortunately it took them half the games lifecycle to do so. As for the campaign i think it is solid but not better than Modern Warfare 2019 nor is it better than BO1 and BO2. I would give multiplayer a 7, campaign and 8, and the zombies a 7.
  • 4 out of 5 stars.

Black Ops Cold War is a fun good action first person shooter sequel. It is improvement over previous sequels. The campaign is fun. I like that the game has choices you can make and have different outcome endings. It is action packed. The missions are fun which had around 12 or so missions. Even with an optional mission. I did find the campaign in the near climax to be quite repetitive with the game flashback to the character experience in vietnam. Playing the same scenario a few times is kind of annoying. The twist is not as surprising like the original black ops game.

The controls are easy to use. The soundtrack is decent. The graphics are pretty decent and good but not as great as previous sequels.

The online is fun as well. Like that they went back to the original black ops format. Without being too complicated with the weapons classes. Still a fun game.
  • Ever since Advanced Warfare (2014), Call of Duty has been pushing the SBMM limit above and beyond to the point where this games Multiplayer is a sweaty, meta-filled camp fest. And I get the argument "Lol, just get good" is easy to use when you're only capable of regurgitating the same argument after dribbling on your keyboard, but the ones that say this aren't worth arguing with. Just remember: they're paying £/$60 every year just to sit a corner and lick the walls. 1/10

Zombies is a very different story - both literally and figuratively - taking place over two decades after the end of Tag Der Toten; with a new crew, old characters and familiar ideas. But it adds a lot of fresh, new ideas to the mix too. Armour Stations, Ammo Crates, Weapon Rarities, Upgradable Perks and that's just some of the newer innovations. 8/10

Campaign? It's a Call of Duty campaign. You know what to expect. But to the games credit, it doesn't suck complete ass? Adler, Park and Sims are all likable new editions to the crew with a lot of history and background surrounding them. The new voice cast - while not stellar - is good at their job, particularly the ones doing Woods' and Adler's voices. With ties to the Modern Warfare universe featuring a cameo from Imran Zakhaev himself, it feels like the CoD Developers can finally share and trade each others ideas for the first time. 6/10

Overall, Black Ops: Cold War is a good game. A great addition to the Black Ops subgenre especially with the Zombies, but the Multiplayer is just a frustrating, SBMM, ruined sweatfast by people who don't know how to relax and have fun anymore.
  • Feels like a unfinished free2play handy game, full of bugs, bad gunplay, bad animations and bad sounds. I only play it to unlock stuff for warzone. The engine feels like from 2000, don't know why they made it with the same engine like modern warfare...
  • I love call of duty games, so simplistic and it takes your mind off everything for a short while. Multiplayer is usually fun, but the main light is on the campaign and zombies for me. But man, did they really screw up this game.

First off, the campaign is way too short, but it makes up with its creativity and quality. There's only 7 missions in the game, but they really put heart into those 7 missions. Like in one mission, where you get to choose 4 different options to go about it, I found really impressive. The story, despite what others say, I found good, especially towards the end. However, the "dialogue impacting the story" is minimal, so don't get hopes up on that. Also, enemies are super easy to kill, even on the hardest difficult. I only had problems with the heavies, and those were the only enjoyable parts. The lag in the cutscenes was unbearable, so much so that I would skip them and just go to YouTube for it. The campaign also needs to install separately, and has three different parts needed to download, which is a pain to find. Otherwise, it was a good campaign but did not deliver what was promised.

Multiplayer is finally good again. Instead of the same three pathways and only two story buildings, they finally got creative with it, especially on Armada and Crossroads. The weapons seem really balanced, each ones have there advantages, and I feel like none of them are overpowered. Perks, lethal and tactical stayed mostly the same, so don't worry about that. Abilities is fun to mess around with though, and can make or break a kit. I am not a big fan of the new score streak system, but I can understand it. The score streaks themselves are fun to use though. Overall, a great multiplayer.

Zombies is just like the campaign, decent. Instead of letting the player figure everything out, it just straight up tells you where to go and what to do, which I thought was an awful concept. Exploring is half the fun of zombies. Perks are lackluster, but you have the ability to gain all of them now, which is nice. The elite is decent, and the rounds get decently harder. The weapon choice is bad, with the only super being a nerfed ray gun. Players can now pack a punch three times though, which is cool when going for higher rounds. I do understand why Activision made these choices, for the newer players, but I rather something too complicated than too easy.

Overall, it's a decent game. Definitely not one of the best, but definitely not one of the worst. I feel like a 6 star rating is a rating fit for a game so lackluster and short.

    MULTIPLAYER

For the multiplayer aspect it is a really fun game because there is many different modes to try out. Another reason I would suggest this game is because there is a lot of old multiplayer maps from older Call of Duty games such as: Nuketown, Hijacked, Standoff, Raid and Slums.

    CAMPAIGN

For the campaign the story is well thought out. The main characters are the same from the older Call of Duty's. Names include: Jason Hudson, Alex Mason, Frank Woods. Also new characters such as: Helen Park, Lawrence Sims, Russel Adler, Lazar Azoulay and also your character Bell.

    ZOMBIES

For zombies it is fun because of a mode called onslaught where you can play multiplayer maps in zombies and it is a great way to level up your guns and get zombies camo's for your guns too. Another thing I want to point out is the attention to detail for the zombies.

Thanks for reading my review :D.
