In Breath of the Wild, Link was stated to have been chosen by the Master Sword at a young age and was implied to have carried it with him for many years, with the official "Creating a Champion" art book stating he most likely got it around age 12 or 13. In Age of Calamity he doesn't obtain the blade until the game's second chapter, where he's about 16 or 17.
