Once Upon a Snowman - Movie Review
There isn't much I can say about Once Upon a Snowman because it's only seven minutes long, but it was an entertaining seven minutes.
We saw what happened to Olaf after he was created during the events of Frozen, and how he came to be obsessed with things like summer and warm hugs.
It was a charming short film, but it could have easily been twice the length that it was. Instead of an adventure, it felt like a small journey and I was disappointed in that regard.
I don't know this for a fact, and I could be wrong, but it felt like they made this to put on the front of another Disney film which was supposed to be released in the cinema by now, but they moved it over to Disney+ because of the current state of the world. If that's the case, they made the right move.
At the end of the day, they did what they set out to do and I was entertained for the short time that it lasted. The animation was as gorgeous as ever, and it was nice seeing snippets of the first Frozen film scattered throughout.
If you like the franchise, it's a no-brainier to watch this. It will barely take any time out of your day, and it actually did help flesh the character out just a little. On that basis, although I would have liked it to be double this length, it gets a recommendation from me.
