Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) leaving New York City to become a judge in New Orleans? We object! That’s where the Season 1 finale of Night Court—the hit sequel to the classic 1984-92 legal sitcom—left off. The move put Judge Abby Stone (The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch), who also recently broke off her engagement to longtime beau Rand (Pete Holmes), in a big funk. “Where we left off was a bittersweet moment,” executive producer Dan Rubin says. “These two people found each other and built this little family between them and then everyone else [on the show] as well. Dan wants her to ask him to stay.” But Abby “doesn’t want to get in the way of his happiness,” or his new job. Will order in this court be restored? We’ll get the answer to that when Season 2 is back in session tonight with a special story that...

Actress and comedian Kate Micucci who is known for her roles in The Big Bang Theory and Scrubs has revealed she is battling lung cancer – even though she has never smoked. She shared the news on TikTok. Speaking in a video, Micucci said, “Hey everybody, this is not a TikTok, it’s a ‘Sick Tok’… I’m in the hospital but it’s because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday.” Luckily, Micucci added, “They caught it really early.” (Credit: Monty Brinton/CBS via Getty Images) “It’s really weird, because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life, so, uh, you know, it was a surprise,” Micucci said. But when it comes to lung cancer, Micucci added, “It happens and so the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out, I’m all good.” In other words, it sounds like Micucci’s on the road to a possible full recovery.

For the first time since beginning this editorial series, we’re discussing a documentary rather than a fiction film. That’s because Yellow Veil just released a supersized documentary about the history of the Erotic Thriller called We Kill For Love: The Lost World of the Erotic Thriller (2023).
Clocking in at 163 minutes, this is a thorough, occasionally indulgent documentary written and directed by Anthony Penta. The doc uses a framing device featuring an archivist character, played by Michael Reed, cataloguing countless VHS tapes and watching “Suspect Interviews” (aka talking head interviews) in his dimly lit office. These segments recur throughout We Kill For Love, and also feature voice-over narration from Penta that are partially purple prose, partially quotations from academic articles and books on the genre.
The vast majority of the documentary, however, is taken up by clips and talking head interviews. There’s a good variety of interviewees, including scholars such Linda Ruth Williams,...

The rollout of Warner Bros. Discovery’s new streaming platform Max has had a few bumps, but on the whole, things are going fairly smoothly for the company. Its most important signpost of success is customer engagement, and a report from last week indicates that 70% of existing HBO Max customers had logged into the new streaming platform so far.

The music of Doctor Who has brought chills, caused tears and inspired original works – not to mention raised a few eyebrows over the years. From the on-screen work of the show’s composers to novelty pop singles, trance epics, live proms, a surprising Glastonbury cameo, and the Master’s recent taste for dance-floor fillers, we track the music moments it’s hard to forget.

There’s no denying that The Beatles’ Doctor Who cameo is a strange and somewhat gratuitous moment – but one that came very close to being so much more than that. The First Doctor has just acquired a “Time-Space Visualiser”, meaning that he can view what’s going on anywhere in all of time and space as if they’re watching the telly.

When Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg took the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, they brought a lot of history with them. After all, this is the team that gave the world “Nuthin but a ‘G’ Thang,” the Doggystyle album, “Still D.R.E.,” the 2000 Up in Smoke arena tour, and one of the all-time-great Coachella sets back in 2012. Without any doubt, they are one of the mightiest duos in rap history, rivaled only by the likes of Outkast, Run the Jewels, and Eric B. and Rakim.

With his Netflix animated series The Midnight Gospel, comedian Duncan Trussell embraced a novel technique and challenge, juxtaposing fantastic interstellar adventures with audio from a series of podcast interviews.
A collaboration between Trussell and Adventure Time’s Pendleton Ward, the adult animated series centers on Clancy, a spacecaster (or video podcaster in space) living in a dimension known as “The Chromatic Ribbon,” who uses his multiverse simulator to travel to dying worlds.
Framed on pre-recorded interviews with comedians, spiritual teachers and other guests of The Duncan Trussell Family Hour, including Joey Diaz, Trudy Goodman and Dr. Drew, each episode features conversations between Clancy and a being from a distant planet, touching on such themes as meditation, hope and death.
Trippy, existential and heartfelt, The Midnight Gospel emerged as a concept on the part of two-time Emmy winner Ward. “He was a fan of the podcast, and he had this idea,...

Based on what we’re hearing from Disney, the seventh and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, now on Disney Plus, will be with us on February 17th, 2020. One of the more challenging aspects of the animated series, though, is that you won’t get a chronological experience by just following the released episode order. Thankfully, then, we now have a correct viewing order courtesy of the official Star Wars site, which tells us all you need to know to catch up on The Clone Wars before its return.
The Clone Wars bridges the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, providing a significant level of detail for anyone wondering what was going on in between the two prequel movies. When aired, episodes could often be bundled together as arcs, linked by one-off episodes that might explore a different part of the galaxy adjacent...

Kendal “Climbing Blind,” from Alastair Lee, took the Grand Prize at the 2019 Kendal Mountain Festival on Saturday. Detailing the ascent of a vertical rock pillar, the film revealed how a blind mountaineer led the climb, assisted only by a sight-partner a rope length below. The film had particular significance for a British audience, which had watched the climb in 1967 as an early outside broadcast undertaken by expert mountaineers. “Climbing Blind” showed not only how blindness was no impediment to the driven and the fearless, but also how it was the leading climber who required the greatest strength and faced the highest risks.
The Best Short Film prize went to “Fear of the Unknown,” from Daniel Brereton, and continued the theme of overcoming disability, using the outdoors as a part of the recovery process during the treatment of depression in an individual going through a program of therapy.

Books can be powerful things especially when it comes to the plot.
Honestly, The Doctor probably said it better: "Books, the most powerful weapons in the world." That's the truth when it comes to several television shows.
In many cases, books and journals are both weapons and tools to fix the problem. Often the lead characters on quests, help aid them in finding peaceful solutions to their problems. Sometimes they give key insights into a character or plots.

With several big media companies gearing up for the launch of new streaming platforms, long-running broadcast comedy series are taking center stage as cornerstones of their offerings. NBCUniversal paid $500+ million for The Office, and HBO Max shelled out $425 million for Friends — both pulled away from Netflix. Additionally, Disney+ is taking over streaming rights to The Simpsons library which Disney-owned FX Networks had paid $100 million for in a multi-platform deal several years ago.
The massive recent Office and Friends deals could soon be dwarfed by the first streaming pacts for two big Chuck Lorre hits, The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men. WarnerMedia had been looking to secure Warner Bros. TV’s latest comedy blockbuster, The Big Bang Theory, in a deal, which industry observers had expected to cross the $1 billion mark. Yup, we all started out in "a hot, dense state" as the theme song says but after twelve seasons and nearly three hundred episodes, The Big Bang Theory is wrapping it up.
It's been quite the journey for a cast that started out as a rather stereotypical posse of characters. Not only have they grown in number, balancing out the gender representation, but they have grown into multi-faceted, well-rounded individuals with nuanced goals and intentions.
Related: Enjoy Unlimited access to thousands of Movies and TV shows with Amazon Prime Video
The legacy they leave behind is a mainstream audience that is more accepting of geek culture, more aware of the symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and with better recognition of some of the brightest minds in the Irl science world.
Seriously, the cameos alone should stand as a high-water mark of awesomeness for sitcoms.

We get it: the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a ton of lore, and it can be hard to keep track of it all, especially as the movies get increasingly bonkers. But worry not, true believers. We’ve taken the time to lay it all out as clearly as can be. Read on for the complete timeline to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from “Iron Man” to “Avengers: Endgame.”

The Big Bang explodes from six preexisting singularities. As the universe is created, remnants of these singularities are forged into objects with incredible power over specific aspects of existence: Space, Mind, Reality, Power, Soul and Time. These objects, eventually known as the Infinity Stones, become dispersed throughout the universe, often in forms that make their true nature unrecognizable.

The second night of the fall season brought some big surprises in the ratings.
Manifest, which has garnered tepid reviews pulled in 10.3 million viewers and a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49.
It marked NBC's highest-rated drama launch in two years since This Is Us.
The biggest surprise is that it managed to build out of The Voice. NBC typically uses it to launch a new drama in the fall.
The singing competition returned for Season 15 with 9.6 million viewers and a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49.
That marked erosion of 23 percent year-to-year in the demo.
Over on CBS, The Big Bang took a hit year-to-year. The final season launched with 12.7 million viewers and a 2.4 rating.
After that, Young Sheldon secured 10.6 million viewers and a 1.7 rating.
The highly anticipated reboot of Magnum Pi turned in mediocre results given the lead-in. It had 8.1 million viewers and a 1.2 rating.
Bull moved to Mondays with 7.9 million viewers and a 0.9 rating.

The Big Bang Theory's current season is its last, but you wouldn't know it from watching the Season 12 premiere. The episode made no nods to the impending end (probably because it had already been shot when the Jim Parsons-fueled decision to end was made). It didn't even feel much like season

The Big Bang Theory kicks off its final season Monday, but from a storytelling perspective it's business as usual for the stubbornly consistent comedy. Showrunner Steve Holland says that while the season will be building to the ending, it won't be a totally backward-looking, sentimental affair.

It's hard to believe that The Big Bang Theory has been on the air for almost 11 years, and we have yet to meet Sheldon's older brother.
But here we are, and a popular actor has landed the coveted role of Georgie.
That actor is Jerry O'Connell, appear as the older, but less wise character on The Big Bang Season 11 Episode 24.
The news was confirmed Wednesday night at a joint panel for The Big Bang Theory and spinoff, Young Sheldon at Paleyfest.
That episode is poised to revolve around the wedding between Sheldon and Amy, so it makes sense to have the character appear.

O'Connell is a proven comedy actor and has had roles in the likes of Scream Queens, Carpoolers, and Ugly Betty.
Laurie Metcalf will also be reprising her role as Sheldon's mother, Mary on the milestone installment which is slated to air in May.

This… was the lowest-rated premiere ever for an “American Idol” season since its first season back in 2002. But the show’s Sunday night return on ABC did improve to 11.8 million viewers (from 10.5 million) after three days of DVR and VOD usage — and no one expected “Idol” to suddenly return to the glory days of the mid 2000s, when the show would open as high as 37 million viewers.
It’s a different age, and “Idol’s” premiere rating — a 2.7 among adults 18-49 in Live+3 (up from 2.3 in L+Sd) — is actually a remarkable feat for ABC. It was ABC’s most-watched Sunday series telecast since March 2014.
But “Idol” isn’t cheap — Katy Perry alone is costing the network and producer FremantleMedia a cool $25 million. Executives at rival networks, many of whom kicked the tires on the franchise’s return, say there’s no way ABC will break even on the show.

Steven Moffat's recent work with Doctor Who may have given Chris Chibnall a reset switch...
It’s a dilemma for Doctor Who writers that has been dodged since the show began and one that’s felt even more noticeable in recent years: why doesn’t everyone remember previous Earth-based stories?
During Russell T Davies’ era, in which we were presented with a continuity and consistency of world-building perhaps only previously seen during the Unit years in the early 1970s (or ‘80s, but let’s not get into that), frequent references were made to the increasingly long list of Earth-based invasions and incidents that had taken place in the present day.
But a few years in, this was already becoming problematic from a characterisation point of view. Why would a companion from contemporary Earth have a realistic response to seeing aliens and spaceships that fulfils their role...

When Donald Glover was assembling the team for his FX comedy “Atlanta,” he turned to his own family to write for the series. But this wasn’t a typical case of Hollywood nepotism; his brother Stephen has all of the bonafides necessary to bring the show’s uniquely dangerous and dreamy tone to the screen.
For one, Stephen Glover has the same taste his brother does, having grown up watching the same films and TV shows. And they both noticed a distinct lack of variety when it came to serious, artistic shows for black audiences.
“I feel like people’s sensibilities have gotten a little bit crazier in the last couple of years in America, but I also think that black people in general, we don’t get the chance to kind of see that side in TV,” Stephen Glover told IndieWire. “We don’t always get the most interesting shows.
