French animation outfit Blue Spirit (the studio behind Netflix sensation “Blue Eye Samurai”) will introduced an in-house digital creation and development label under the moniker Blue Spirit Creative. Offering full-service creative and graphic development for features, series, ads and games, the creative label will be run by the Paris-based team behind Digital Banana, which Blue Spirit acquired last year.
“We can now offer a one-stop-shop,” says Blue Spirit CEO Olivier Lelardoux. “Whether in 2D, 3D, real-time engines or across hybrid models, we can guarantee it all through Blue Spirit Creative.”
The new label will launch with four development projects already in the pipeline – including two American brands – but for the most part will specialize in pan-European content. Across the pond, Blue Spirit will team with Ottawa-based studio Mercury Filmworks (“The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse”) to launch Seraphim, targeting the US market with premium and adult skewing content.

Disney released its last Mickey Mouse short film in theaters a decade ago, ending an 85-year run of shorts featuring the iconic character on the big screen. While there hasn't been a theatrically released Mickey Mouse short film since 2013, Disney has taken long breaks from producing these films in the past, suggesting that another one could still happen in the future.

The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, a popular animated series, is coming to an end after releasing over 120 episodes since 2013. The final short film, "Steamboat Silly," pays homage to Mickey Mouse's first appearance in "Steamboat Willie" and features a meta twist on the story. The short premieres on July 28th on Disney+.

Finding Easter movies to watch can be a difficult task, as the holiday is not as universally marketable compared to holidays like Halloween and Christmas, but there are some great Easter movies on Disney Plus. The streaming service boasts an impressive library, and many of the best movies on Disney Plus are its animated classics or entries in massive cinematic franchises like Star Wars and the MCU. Others might think of holiday traditions like Easter egg hunts or getting presents from the Easter Bunny, and some celebrate Easter as a Christian holiday. The television academy first formally acknowledged the art of small screen music composition by honoring the “Dragnet” score in 1955, and they have similarly awarded other series every year since 1968. Since 2019, only continuing scripted shows have been allowed to compete for the Best Music for Series Emmy, while others are now either relegated to the Best Music for Limited Series or Best Music for Documentary Series categories.
The 2022 slate of Best Music for Series nominees includes comedies “The Flight Attendant” (HBO Max), “Only Murders in the Building” (Hulu) and “Schmigadoon!” (Apple TV+) and dramas “Loki” (Disney+), “Severance” (Apple TV+) and “Succession” (HBO). Each nominated composer, most of whom have been recognized before, currently has a shot at achieving their first victory in this category. July is the month that North America goes back to the movies in earnest. There have already been some theatrical release of note this summer, but as everyone knows the blockbuster movie season doesn’t get started until a Marvel movie premieres. Thankfully, with its list of new releases for July 2021, Disney+ is offering up some options for those who prefer to stay home.
In addition to arriving in theaters on July 9, Black Widow will premiere on Disney+ as well. Disney+ subscribers can purchase the first Marvel movie released since 2019 for $29.99. Judging by the early buzz, that “Premier Access” price may be worth it. Disney+ is keeping the original summer movie parade going in July with The Rock’s latest action film, Jungle Cruise, premiering on July 30.

Loki, the Tom Hiddleston-fronted Marvel television series, premiered on Disney+ on Wednesday, June 9.
This was a bit of a surprise given that it originally was dated for a Friday and other series such as WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier had launched just ahead of the weekend.
But the move paid off as Disney+ said that Loki, which was created by Michael Waldron and directed by Kate Herron, became its most-watched series premiere.
Going forward, the streamer will drop all of its originals on Wednesdays. This will include all original scripted, unscripted and animated series.

The holiday season is here and Pixar has a little gift for Disney+ subscribers.
After the animation studio’s next major effort was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the powers that be finally made the decision to release it on Disney’s streaming service. And that’s why you will now be able to watch Soul via Disney+ on Christmas Day. Soul stars Jamie Foxx as Joe Gardner – an inspiring jazz musician who finally gets his chance when his soul enters the Great Beyond.
Soul isn’t the only gift on Disney+ in December 2020. The sure-to-be-thrilling finale of The Mandalorian season 2 will arrive on Dec. 18. After those two beg exciting tentpoles, it’s pretty much business as usual for Disney+ this month (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing). An original movie of note, Safety, premieres on Dec. 11 and should at least be of interest to Clemson football fans.

December is almost upon us, and Disney Plus has a great haul of movies/TV shows coming on Friday to kick off the month in style. In total, there are 11 titles hitting the Mouse House’s streaming service this week and while there’s no explicit Christmassy content to be found, the new arrivals do include a bunch of nostalgic favorites which make for perfect viewing this time of year.

December 2020 marks 30 years since the release of Home Alone – three decades since Moira from Schitt’s Creek and the crooked cop from The Sopranos forget to take Roman from Succession’s brother to France, so he set fire to Tommy from Goodfellas. If that news has you spiralling into a pit of what-have-i-done-with-my-life despair, you’ll be in need of some distraction.
Here’s a bit of that, with a list of the new additions to Disney + UK this December. On Christmas Day, there’s Pixar’s Soul to look forward to, but before that is the free-to-subscribers debut of the live-action Mulan, plus the ongoing weekly episodes of The Mandalorian and Marvel’s Agents of Shield season seven.
We’ll keep this list updated as more announcements are confirmed.

Disney Plus is adding 10 new titles this coming Friday to end November with a bang. Before the Mouse House’s streaming service ushers in the holiday season in December, there are a few more exciting movies and TV shows on the way, including a new D+ original film, a batch of complete seasons to binge and, of course, the latest episode of The Mandalorian season 2.
To begin with, Friday sees the debut of Black Beauty, a modern day retelling of the classic novel by Anna Sewell. Kate Winslet voices the famous horse, with Mackenzie Foy (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms) as Jo, a spirited teenager who becomes Beauty’s best friend once she’s taken from her home and family in the American West.
The animal-themed adventures continue with Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog, a little-remembered 20th Century Fox drama movie from 1995, while another film that...

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for Disney Plus to add a bunch of new titles to its library. Today sees seven movies and TV shows go up on the streaming service in the US, including five new episodes of original shows and a couple of freshly licensed movies. There’s much to enjoy, then, but the highlight of the haul probably has to be the premiere of a much-anticipated Marvel series.
Marvel 616 might not be a new entry in the McU, but it is a Marvel Studios production, acting as a neat introduction to the franchise’s upcoming exclusive D+ shows. The anthology documentary series is set to explore the historical, cultural and societal impacts of the Marvel Comics Universe and its intersection with the world. It kicks off its first episode of six today and should keep fans going through December, ahead of WandaVision dropping in January.

This coming week is a big one for Disney Plus, as the streamer is breaking convention and adding content on other days as well as Friday. The Mouse House’s platform typically only updates its library on the last day of the week, but the next seven days are an exception as new titles are also dropping on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Of course, we’re talking about the 17th’s Lego Star Wars Holiday Special and the 18th’s double bill series premiere of The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. The reason why these titles aren’t landing on Friday along with the rest is because they have significant ties to those specific dates.
The Lego special is a tongue-in-cheek homage to 1978’s infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, which aired on CBS – for one time only – on November 17th. And as for the new Mickey Mouse animated series, the legendary...

A chorus of Happy Birthday, please, for one Michael Theodore “Mickey” Mouse, who reaches the grand old age of 92 this month. As befits his advanced years, Mickey will likely be celebrating with a swig or two of Pepto Bismol and the Band of Brothers DVD boxset. Or, if he fancies, he could always fire up Disney + UK and catch some new episodes of The Mandalorian (starting Friday the 30th of October) The Simpsons, and Agents of Shield, all of which will be on the streaming service in November.
(Though now I think about it, Mickey Mouse lives in America, doesn’t he? So he’ll already have seen most of that. And Noelle, the new Anna Kendrick Christmas film that came out in the US last year. Some people have it all.)
Here’s what’s new on Disney Plus UK this November:
6 November
The Simpsons season 31
13 November
Marvel’s Agents of S.
