Pretty much a scene-by-scene remake of the original. I only preferred Harshavardhan's portrayal of the doctor to the Hindi version. Nithin was no where close to Ayushman, Tamanna was good and Nabha Natesh was barely okay. There was also unnecessary lavishness (the restaurant did not look like it was going out of business, at all! Nor did it look like a place where independent artists perform) like a typical tollywood movie. One thing that really struck me was when Mangli (The lottery ticket seller) asked the hero, "Girlfriend...Boyfriend...?" In a movie that did not even have the on-screen kiss of the original. While I love the inclusion, it really didn't feel like something a roadside seller would be open-minded about. If this movie released on the big screen, the audience would have been in splits when the song "om mahaprana deepam" played. Amazing timing!

This movie keeps you completely engaged. Terrific performance from Nithin sir and excellent performance from Tamannaah mam. The thrill and suspense elements in the film carries throughout.
  • Great team work, wonderful acting by Nithiin and Tamannaah.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Must watch.
  • Many watched andhadun movie but now we are happy to see the movie in telugu as maestro by our youth star nithiin . He justified role of ayushmaan , he did great acting in this film credit goes to nithiin, Tamanna and the director merlapaka.
  • Director merlapaka gandhi didn't missed the flavour of andhadhun and not spoiled the andhadhun .Nithin performed very well dont compare with ayushman definitely you love nithin acting.

Watched Maestro just to see how well did they manage to remake a classic thriller and as usual disappointed. The essence of Andhadhun was to leave things unexplained and leaving it to the viewer's imagination as to why the characters did what they did and what could or might have happened. The telugu remake tries to lay everything out on the table trying to explain and reason. Before coming to acting, the casting was a disaster, unfortunately can't expect Nitin not to act in their own production but Tamanna too failed to reach anywhere near Tabu. Nitin well no comments. Music which was another piller of the original's success was a big mess in telugu. Everything seems to have been made in a hurry. The whole ambience does not live up to the plot. Better stay away from this B grade remake. Lastly Nabha adds salt to the Maestro's wound.
  • Wonderful acting from nithin.and maestro team and ending is super.
  • One star because they chose a good movie to remake. Sadly they didn't live up to that. I don't understand why they chose this cast. Nithin doesn't look like a blind person at all. Ayushman is more silent and looks full of mystery. Nithin looks mischievous. On screen something felt out of place. And the music. It sucked.

If you are curious about the movie. Just watch the Bollywood one. Dialogue, music and screenplay is much better.

I'm going to try and not draw too many comparisons between Maestro and Andhadhun because the latter was released as a theatrical experience and the former became an OTT release. I remember watching Andhadhun in a theatre and being thrilled when the characters kept cheating my expectations while the background music immersed me. Whereas to Merlapaka Gandhi's disadvantage, it's harder to recreate the same thrill when watching his remake on a smaller screen without the sound system of a theatre. Especially when the film is tailor-made for a big screen experience. Besides, when remaking a thriller, it's harder to be original because the beats are fixed, and when they work it's attributed to the original and when they don't it's easy to blame the director.

It is just a not better remake of the 2018 film Andhadhun, not better, not even the same. The producers, director, cast and entire crew just wasted their time, effort and money trying to remake everything in a worse way. It was as if this film was only made by playing Andhadhun, re-enacting it on stage piece by piece while recording.

There is hardly any cast better than Andhadhun.

Nithiin's acting was acually not too bad, but still not as good as Ayushmann Khurrana. Tamannaah Bhatia: very disappointing and seems forced to appear evil; her acting is still far from Tabu for the role of an antagonist, and this is the biggest weakness that actually eliminates the evil atmosphere of the antagonist. The rest of the cast are worse, nothing special, weak character. The only one who is better is Nabha Natesh who appears slightly superior to Radhika Apte.

  • It's okok movie and a one time watchable that's it overall narration is not so good and climax is worst.this movie is not upto the mark of remake movie #andadhun.

But compare to the recent movies of Telugu, it will be good.

9 out of 10, and that 1 is for that promotional song which starts like a continuance of the movie but it's not. Better to play this video song whenever end cards starts.
  • Andhadhun will not only remain one of the best movies in the history of Bollywood, or Indian cinema as a while, but, frankly speaking, it's up there with the best of all time in world cinema. To put it plainly, it's a very tough act to follow. So, does Nithiin, Tamannaah Bhatia and Nabha Natesh's Telugu remake, Maestro, written and directed by Merlapaka Gandhi, manage to make a fist of it. Sadly, the apple falls very, very far from the tree in this case.

Merlapaka Gandhi attempts to take on the award-winning black crime comedy--Andhadhun and tweak it a little bit for Maestro. While the basic beats of the film remain familiar and it's almost a frame to frame remake, there are hearts tugged by sentiment and key plot points spoon-fed while it was left to imagination in the original. By the time the scene where a lead knocks a soda can out of their way rolls around, you're left with mixed feelings.

Arun (Nithiin) is a blind pianist in Goa, living in the handicapped quarters with only his cat Rani for company. He plays his music at local restaurants to make ends meet and save enough money to head abroad. Sophie (Nabha Natesh) and her father Pedro (Balakrishna) allow him to play at their struggling restaurant. Elsewhere there's an ageing superstar called Mohan (Naresh) who loves re-watching his old films to remember lost glory. He's been married to a much-younger Simran (Tamannaah Bhatia) since two years and she harbours the dream of being an actress. Maestro also sees Jisshu Sengupta as a CI called Bobby, Sreemukhi as his wife Lucky and Harshavardhan as a doctor looking to make a quick buck. An illicit affair leaves murders in its wake, a key witness must find a way to save themselves and a rabbit escapes a cabbage farm right on time.

Also, as earnest as Nithiin is, and as drop-dead gorgeous as Tamannaah and Nabha Natesh are, they simply can't match up to how Ayushmaan Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte brought so much to the table courtesy of their expressions and body language. Even the supporting players like Jisshu Sengupta, Sreemukhi, Harsha Vardhan, Mangli and Racha Ravi pale before their counterparts from the original. We wonder if this again has to do with the direction. And while some changes to the script are welcome, the others seem forced, merely added to show that we can do things differently.

Maestro is a classic case of how a remake seldom matched up to the original despite it treading the same path, owing to the Director changing hands. Instead of watching this failed remake, you should watch Andhadhun.

After I came to know that it is the remake of Andhadhun, I got excited. While lead actors performed really well. The movie's performance was ruined by side actors. They performed really bad.
