If you are looking for something to face palm several times with and laugh hysterically at then this is your movie. The acting is impalpable, the set is even worse, and the plot line is just a total clichéd bomb. Even the singing is less than mediocre with the exception of Tammy Townsend. I think the best part and probably only good part in the movie is the very end when the main character goes back to where she belongs. I thought they could have done a lot more with this movie and I know a lot of African American B-movies are laughable and light movies but this was a low budget version of the Tyler Perry movies. Matter of fact it was several Tyler Perry movies mixed into one. Do not and I repeat do not waste your money on buying this but maybe consider just waiting to watch it on BET whenever it comes on and even that's asking a lot of this movie.
  • I gave 10 points to this movie because the existing score is too low, it deserves more. It was a pleasure to watch nice actors and good acting. The story was portrayed very well. Also it was a pleasure to listen to some nice songs. The only bad thing was I got a bad mood for the rest of the evening. I guess I was taken into the story too much, I was thinking and analyzing, I was still in there. It means it was made well!

There was one little flaw: I was thinking if there can be such a naive girl in real. Why she was thinking about the show she joined as very Christian when Devlin's show was not Christian at all, I mean he took off his clothes and girls were touching his body. How is that Christian?
  • Which I agree with from a reviewer on here because this movie has it's flaws but it tells a magnificent story of a young 23 year old woman who follows her dreams (even if they get her into trouble). It has lots of great dialog, the characters work and the plot is very good leaving you to watch more of it. There were times I re winded and times I yelled at the screen because some characters could get under your skin. Other times I cheered for some characters because hey they made me smile, but all in all I say check this one out because it's a very moving uplifting story for the family and especially the young females ( of any ethnicity). Note: I a preacher's grandson and son so for the PKs out there, a strong yes because I know I'm a buy this.

I Love LeToya, she was on her way to being a great actress when she starred in this movie in 2010. Original tapped to play Desiree but walked away with the lead role. She was believable as the sweet Preacher's kid trying to find her own way, that differed from what her Daddy wanted for her. I truly enjoyed this movie and the casting director was on point the choices of actors were excellent and fit their personalities. I Wish there were more opportunities for her to show her acting chops, but there are not enough vehicles for a black actress. She is such a beautiful person and it really shows in her performances. I loved her icy character, Felicia Price in the VH1 Single Ladies paired with my girl Lisa Raye. I truly enjoy Family & Friends Hustle another VH1 production that shows the beautiful soul that LeToya possesses. I'm always here for anything that she does, Go Toy Toy.
  • Finally it's a delight to see this. SOUTHERN blacks, not Northern, Western or Midwest blacks, who don't say the word, pretty much like white people One reason I loved the movie is it's an incredible story. Also it's a beautiful touching tale of forgiveness and second chances. Watch this movie, you won't regret it. Touching human drama stories. Sam Foster is up there with greats like Spike Lee and Martin Scorsese and Brian DePalma. This movie not bad at all. The music is grand de force. Beautiful babes singing our favorite Southern songs. You'll love this movie a lot. Beautiful sights and sounds and well, and New York is shown too
  • I don't know why this got such a low rating... It was good for what it was. The acting was pretty decent and the songs were a plus. Although the plot line was definitely predictable (for me, that is) it was still interesting to watch. There was a good chunk of the movie where I was mad though - I really get into movies, so maybe I was just analyzing it too much. But, as stated, for what it was, I think it was worth taking the time out to watch it. I think this movie teaches a good life lesson also.

People apparently knew everyone up in this movie, I only knew the father and the main girl's friend (Smart Guy, Half & Half) but I thought they all did a decent job & after finding out they're all apparently singers. So yeah, go watch the movie. Everyone's opinion is different, but you might enjoy it. It's not an award-winning movie but it definitely held my interest.
  • Latoya Lockett Was the perfect person to play in this movie. She is so beautiful and kind. May God bless her to continue success!!! Latoya Lockett is definitely HOUSTON finest. After Destiny's Child. Latoya Luckett is truly an inspiration. Getting a Role of Greenleafown brought her to new Unstoppable fierce 🔥 heights. I am so Proud of Latoya Luckett who has a testimony!!! Preachers Kid was and Still is one of my favorite Movies. Netflix needs to pick this movie up now!

I wasn't sure what to expect and after seeing such a low rating I was thinking better of it but had nothing else to watch that I hadn't seen before. The story line, the acting, the singing.. I would have loved more singing especially at the end (trying not to write a spoiler!!!)

It had a good Christian message based on the Prodigal Son, and the lead actor was amazing. I've seen some posts about her being from Destiny's Child, but do not quote me on that. I will though look out for any music she may have done. In fact the singing quality throughout was really good and it's not often you can say that about those type of films, Fighting Temptations and Dreamgirls, aside.

Overall, worth the watching and will look out for more related films.

Who would have thought that Letoya Luckett could act? She has proved that she is the best actress from Destiny's Child. And who would have thought that Tammy Townsend could sing? And who would have thought that Tank could sing? Clifton Powell did a great job as the hateful director for the stage show. Angie was one of the most stupid movie characters that I have ever seen! She behaved as a strong woman during parts of the movie, but continued to be used and abused during other parts of the movie. It was good to see fly Essence Atkins and Raeven Kelly in this movie. This movie had serious messages. Look at the deleted scenes to see Dawn Lewis' role in the movie.
