Rarely have I seen an LGBTQ film where the whole film doesn't have to be about the protagonist's sexuality. 'Pretenders' strives to tell the story of people who aren't happy with their situations and feel the need to pretend to escape their realities. But it also has some good comedic moments you'd find in a John Hughes film. Definitely made with little money. Really good job overall.

Has structure flaws that could easily be read as features. Nice colors, and safe vibe (though deals with some cringy situations)
