21 year old Ben Carolan (who was the band manager Darren in Sing Street 2016) was cast as drug lord Eammon Cunningham's baby faced hit man/assassin Glen Wright. During the filming of a scene in a restaurant in South Dublin, Ben rushes from the street into the restaurant pursuing Charlie Cox acting as his targeted rival gang member Michael Kinsella with a fake gun showing but he came to the attention of the actual real Irish Gardai (Police) who briefly gave him chase thinking he'd perpetrated a real armed robbery until they realized it was a TV series set.
Filmed entirely around Dublin in Ireland.
Aside from the series name having a connection to the lead crime families surname, and they fact they are all close family kin, it is also a term used to denote " you can relate to something or someone" which is equally relevant given the close bonds between everyone.
The value of drugs stolen is less than half of that quoted due to declining prices due to oversupply. A real valuation of $15m is more likely on the street, less wholesale.
The series contains pretty much every extreme swear word, currently in use in Ireland, throughout the series. The RTE tv version shown in Ireland, on sunday nights, in 2021 did not use any type of alternate "tv version" to soften the swearing used throughout all 8 episodes. RTE even left in what is currently considered the most offensive swear word "c--t". But, they did give warnings before each episode primarily for the use of strong language that some may find offensive, scenes of violence throughout, and occasionally scenes of drug use.
