  • Basically it, the show usually airs very late at night due to it's mature subject matter, just when all the other channels are plugging in re-runs. How does this show compare to the other late-night cartoon comedies(like Adult swim, Toon at Night, etc.)? Pretty hit and miss.

The show is about Mark Dexler chilling with his 2 roomies Woody and VJ and gal pal Sam, and their quests for getting drunk and chasing tail. With such a simple story base it allows writers to be very creative with hijinks and the story, with a very anything can happen nature. And the art style is done well and suits the subject matter. Although it still has it's flaws: It aimless story idea that allows for a lot of creativity but despite it's strong efforts just doesn't make the mark(heh). The jokes and episodes never push the envelope and you'll probably guess how it ends correctly by the first couple of minutes. The characters are very vain and mean spirited just for the fun of it(but not in a "glorious bastard" or "loveable villain" way) making it hard to relate or cheer them on. And the views on race and gender sort of reinforce negative stereotypes(just slightly) rather than parody media and the general public way of thinking. The episodes that are funny or involve celebrity appearances(Russel Peters) are more pleasant surprises than anything else.

Overall The Dating Guy is an OK show.

This is a below average animated comedy show (for adult audiences not kids). I did not enjoy it very much but didn't hate it either. The kind of thing I could put on in the background while I caught up on some of my work after I came home from the office. It's not particularly smart or funny and the characters are kinda blah but it is harmless overall and I've seen a lot worse.

It is very sad that this company decided to very obviously rip of an amazing Comic. I found this on my own and was like...that looks familiar! I am a Huge fan of the WebComic Least I Could Do, and i checked to see if this was a collaboration...turns out its a straight rip off after things went weird with their pitch. I can't believe they would so clearly rip off a great comic. And they did it poorly too. The first giveaway is to look at the pictures of the cast. They changed one to Indian, one to Black and two of the others look exactly like the characters in the comic. The bar from the very first scene looks the same as in the comic as dose the apartment that the main character lives in. I do not recommend this show at all. I do recommend you look for the original web comic and read it for free. You will find many more hours of satisfaction than you will with this sad show. This show is a disgrace.
  • The show itself is pretty good but the opening song was put together poorly. The singer sounds like he couldn't cut it in the music world or someone felt bad for him and gave him this gig. The song is horrible and the singer gives me headache every time I hear his voice. I fast forward every time. I hope he reads this and realizes he can't cut it. The lyrics are stupid and copied from other songs. The one verse he says if shes at the end of town he'll pick her up. I mean come on dude we're you lazy and couldn't find your own words. You know you copied peoples words from there songs and through them together and made that trash garbage song. Get rid of that opening and closing song and that show might of appealed better to the viewers.
