Joey King to Star in ‘Practical Magic 2′ With Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman
Image
Joey King is in talks to star in “Practical Magic 2” alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.

She’s reportedly playing the daughter of Bullock’s character. Bullock and Kidman are reprising their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters who descend from a long line of witches. In the original 1998 movie, the duo finds themselves fighting off a curse that kills the men they fall in love with. Plot details for the second film haven’t been revealed, though sources say the story is based on a later installment in Alice Hoffman’s “Practical Magic” book series.

Susanne Bier is directing “Practical Magic 2” from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the first film. It’s aiming to start production in London later this summer, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which broke the new of King’s casting. Warner Bros. will release the witchy sequel in theaters on Sept.

Dark Knight Writer Confirms Joker Had a Bigger Role in Rises
Image
The consensus among Batman fans appears to be that Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy is a flawed masterpiece. As solid as it was, The Dark Knight Rises couldn’t live up to the heights of The Dark Knight. It’s not even Nolan’s fault, though: The Dark Knight is the kind of film that comes once in a generation. Of course, no one can discuss the Dark Knight trilogy without mentioning Heath Ledger’s generational performance as the Joker in 2008’s The Dark Knight. Ledger changed the character for good, infusing it with a uniquely malicious, chaotic aura that still defines the Clown Prince of Crime in many of his comic book appearances. It’s no surprise to hear that Nolan and the rest of the team, including screenwriter David Goyer, wanted much more Joker in The Dark Knight Rises’ original draft. Goyer, who penned most of the Dark Knight trilogy alongside Nolan,...

‘The Phoenician Scheme’ Review: Wes Anderson’s Plans Go Awry in a Spirited but Shallow Caper
Image
If family is the sharpest and most cutting of double-edged swords, few storytellers have ever wielded it with more violent enthusiasm than Wes Anderson, whose movies often start with — and then scab over — the seemingly mortal kind of wound that only a severed relationship can leave behind, and only a carefully mended one can ever hope to fix. In that sense and several others, “The Phoenician Scheme” is the most enthusiastically violent film that Anderson has made thus far.

Spackled together from all the gray paint and seriocomic grotesquerie that he couldn’t find a use for in his previous work, the “Asteroid City” auteur’s hectic father-daughter story takes pains to clarify a certain ethos at the root of his art, even if it does frustratingly little to flesh that ethos out any further.

We’ll go to that, but first — the violence. Like so many of Anderson’s bad dads before him,...

Why Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Couldn't Get A Best Score Oscar Nomination
Image
Not everyone agrees on the best score for a Batman movie, but people do generally agree that the score for "The Dark Knight" is high on the list. If nothing else, it's impossible not to love those last 30 seconds of "I'm Not a Hero," which is usually played in the film whenever Batman does something especially cool. The scores for the other movies in the "Dark Knight" trilogy are solid, but "Batman Begins" feels undercooked compared to its successor, and the score for "The Dark Knight Rises" feels like it's trying in vain to recapture that "Dark Knight" magic.

But foras intense and atmospheric as the music in "The Dark Knight" is, it did not win an Oscar for best original music, nor was it even nominated. As reported at the time, "The Academy's music branch acted after noting that five people were credited with composing the score. Although no...

Christopher Nolan Plans To Make History As The Odyssey Will Be The First Film Shot 100% In IMAX
Image
Christopher Nolan’s next cinematic venture, the mythological epic The Odyssey, is set to break new ground by being the first commercial feature filmed exclusively with IMAX cameras.

Nolan is no stranger to the IMAX format, having incorporated it into key sequences across several of his major films, including Dunkirk, Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Tenet, and most recently, Oppenheimer.

The IMAX format has proven to be a lucrative component of Nolan’s box office appeal—IMAX screenings reportedly accounted for 20% of Oppenheimer’s impressive $975.8 million global haul.

On the technological achievement, Imax CEO Rich Gelfond stated, "Chris called me up and said, ‘If you can figure out how to solve the problems, I will make [Odyssey] 100 percent in Imax.’ And that’s what we’re doing."

Gelfond added, "He forced us to rethink that side of our business, our film recorders, our film cameras.”

Historically, the sheer bulk of IMAX...

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Takes a Historic Step That Could Change How Movies Are Made
Image
Christopher Nolan has always pushed the limits of the film industry with his projects, often bringing new techniques that keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Rest assured, he will do that again for his upcoming project, the epic The Odyssey.

Nolan, who still basks in the success of the seven-time Oscar-winning 2023 film Oppenheimer, has an even more ambitious project on his hands. When he started filming the upcoming star-studded film, based on Homer's epic, he challenged IMAX boss Rich Gelfond to a move that could completely change the industry. During a press event at the Cannes Film Festival, Gelfond revealed thatThe Odyssey will make history as the first film shot entirely using IMAX cameras, per Collider.

"Chris is going to kill me for saying this, which makes him happy," Gelfond started. "Which is, about a year before Chris started filming Odyssey, he called me in and said,...

“It’s Not Going to Get Better”: Tom Hardy’s Body Is “Falling to Bits” After Years of Brutal Action Movies
Image
Thanks to his performances in The Dark Knight Rises, Warrior, and more, Tom Hardy has cemented himself as one of the most legendary action stars of all time. Hardy has never shied away from taking the most intense roles, and he’s famous for doing his own stunts, which has now come back to bite him. Hardy’s latest action vehicle comes in the form of Havoc, the bone-crunching thriller written and directed by Gareth Evans that sees its leading star get pummeled on more than one occasion. Hardy recently sat down for an interview with Esquire to talk about Havoc and his career as a whole, and he even revealed that doing his own stunts over the years has taken a toll on his body that’s “not going to get better”:

"I loved playing Eddie in Venom. Juggling chainsaws. … Put me on a unicycle and throw everything at me!

Tom Hardy's Critically Panned 25% Rotten Tomatoes Rom-Com Proves Popular on Streaming
Image
13 years before he was starring in Guy Ritchie's latest crime series alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, and dominating the streaming charts alongside Timothy Olyphant in Havoc, Tom Hardy'sreputationcontinued to grow as he joined two Hollywood mainstays in Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in a spy thriller meets romantic comedy, This Means War. Directed by McG, the movie sees CIA agents and suave suit-wearers Tuck (Hardy) and Fdr (Pine), an inseparable pair of operatives, whose friendship and professional lives come crashing down after they find out they are dating the same woman, Lauren Scott (Witherspoon).

Sadly, the movie fared terribly with critics and most audiences, earning a disastrous 25% critics score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 56% not doing much to help the cause. For Hardy, this marks his lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of his entire filmography, which is quite some feat considering the many underwhelming projects in his catalog.

The Dark Knight 4: Tom Hardy Dashes All Hopes for His Return as Bane With Latest Comment
Image
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems that iconic star Tom Hardy is facing bad news all around. Although the actor is doing quite well, it seems that old age has finally gotten to him.

Tom Hardy spilled all hopes of him ever returning in The Dark Knight 4 (if it was going to happen) in his recent interview, and fans are very sad. The actor’s portrayal as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises was loved by millions of people, but it seems that Bane is getting old now.

Tom Hardy will Not be returning in The Dark Knight 4

For those of you wondering, there is always a plan for a sequel to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. Although Nolan has retired from the franchise, fans still hope that the director will eventually return to it someday.

Tom Hardy Admits Physical Toll of Action Career Is “Not Going to Get Better”
Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy has revealed that a lifetime of gruelling stunts and fight scenes has left his body struggling to recover. In an interview with Esquire U.K., the 47-year-old actor detailed multiple surgeries and chronic ailments tied to performances ranging from Bane in The Dark Knight Rises to Max Rockatansky in Mad Max: Fury Road. “I’ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back, I’ve got sciatica as well,” he said. “And I pulled my tendon in my hip. It’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.”

Hardy’s willingness to embrace physical risk has defined roles in films such as The Revenant, Warrior and the Venom trilogy, which together grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide. He described chainsaw juggling and unicycling for the camera in Sony’s Venom series as efforts to test his limits. When asked about a potential crossover with Spider-Man,...

Tom Hardy Says His Body Is ‘All Falling to Bits Now’ After Action Movies and Injuries: ‘It’s Not Going to Get Better’
Image
Tom Hardy said in a recent interview with Esquire U.K. that his body is past the point of healing after a life spent getting beaten up on movie sets and in real life during martial arts tournaments. The actor is well known for getting physical on screen, be it as Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises” or as Max Rockatansky in “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Films such as “The Revenant,” “Warrior” and the “Venom” trilogy have also gotten Hardy bruised and battered over the years.

“I’ve had two knee surgeries now, my disc’s herniated in my back, I’ve got sciatica as well,” Hardy told the publication. “And I have that… is it plantar fasciitis? Where did that come from? And why? Why?! And I pulled my tendon in my hip as well. It’s like, it’s all falling to bits now, and it’s not going to get better.

The NCIS Character Glen Powell Played Before His Rise To Fame
Image
At this point, Glen Powell feels like he's been famous forever thanks to a series of high-profile projects (that also happened to be major financial successes), but this native Texan only broke into the mainstream towards the end of the 2010s. So what was he doing before that? As a young actor trying to make it big in Hollywood, Powell showed up in "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" alongside Selena Gomez, in a tiny, blink-and-you'll-miss-it role in "The Dark Knight Rises" — which consists entirely of Tom Hardy's supervillain Bane slamming a young Powell's head into a computer keyboard — and, as it turns out, he also appeared on "NCIS."

In the procedural's 10th season, Powell plays Marine Corps Sergeant Evan Westcott in the two-part episode "Shell Shock," whose older brother, Captain Joe Westcott (Brad Beyer), watched as his friend was attacked (and may or may not have been personally involved...

The Odyssey: Everything We Know About The Christopher Nolan Movie
Image
Award-winning director Christopher Nolan is no stranger to massive projects, but his adaptation of "The Odyssey" will probably be his biggest undertaking yet. The director behind "The Dark Knight," "Inception," and "Oppenheimer," (just to name a few of his blockbuster films) is taking on Homer's epic poem, and filming is already underway for the project — which is set to release in 2026 (as of this writing).

So what do we need to know about "The Odyssey" before it hits theaters and, in all likelihood, blows critics and audiences away? If you didn't have to read "The Odyssey" for any of your high school English classes, I'll also go over the basic plot points of "The Odyssey," remind you that it is, in fact, a sequel — to another of Homer's poems — and talk about some straightforward and wildly divergent adaptations of this famous story. Here's everything you need to know about...

Tom Hardy Nearly Starred In Both The Worst And Best Dceu Movies
Image
It is safe to say that Tom Hardy has had quite a career. Since making his feature film debut in Ridley Scott's "Black Hawk Down" in 2001, he has appeared in films that run the gamut of genre and scale: from smaller character-driven dramas like "Warrior" and "Locke" to some of the most ambitious blockbusters of the 2010s including "Inception" and "Mad Max: Fury Road." Hardy's resume showcases his talents as a performer who boasts leading man looks and sensibilities, but at his core is an eager character actor pursuing a wide variety of roles.

Like many of his contemporaries, Tom Hardy has brought his talents to superhero cinema. With his dynamite work as Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises" and the bonkers, off-the-wall zaniness he exhibited as the star of the "Venom" trilogy, Hardy is in that special group of actors who have appeared in films based on both DC and Marvel Comics.

Which Shows & Films Are Leaving Netflix This June?(Photo Credit –Netflix)

Netflix users are in for a rough June as a wave of beloved titles is set to vanish from the platform. The cuts hit hard and wide, starting June 1 and continuing through the month, affecting everything from action-packed blockbusters to children’s classics.

Batman Bids Farewell

It begins with a quiet goodbye to 100 Days with Tata, and quickly escalates with the removal of heavy hitters like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises. This is undoubtedly a painful blow for fans of Gotham’s caped crusader. However, Bruce Wayne is not the only one saying farewell.

Family favorites like Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks and Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom are also making their exit, leaving parents and little ones with fewer options. The early wave of removals includes Burlesque, Closer, Magic Mike Xxl, Cult of Chucky,...

'Batman Begins' Star Recalls Working With Christopher Nolan and Praises Dedication to Movies
Image
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Batman Begins and the 25th anniversary of Memento. The common denominator is, you guessed it, Christopher Nolan. During his incredible career so far, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has become known as a director who likes to collaborate with the same actors on multiple projects, even those in supporting roles. As well as the likes of Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh and Anne Hathaway, Sons of Anarchy star Mark Boone Junior is another star to have worked with Nolan on more than one occasion.

MovieWeb recently caught up with the actor amid the release of his new film, I'm Beginning to See the Light. Having starred in both of Nolan's movies celebrating a milestone birthday this year, Boone took a moment to reflect on working with a master of the craft.

"Christopher Nolan is just an incredibly hardworking person who is very well prepared and, you know,...

Warner Bros. has been in a transitional phase for several years now, as it tries to create new franchises that it can potentially rely on for the foreseeable future. “That would’ve been a pitiful attempt”: Real Reason Why Christian Bale Didn’t Use Method Acting in ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’
Image
Actor Christian Bale is known for his chameleon-like quality he brings to his roles, which often require dramatic transformations. As a result, it is no surprise that Bale leans heavily towards method acting, especially for some of his more prominent roles that have established him as one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood.

Despite being known for his stint as DC’s Dark Knight on the big screen, Bale also forayed into the MCU with his appearance in Thor: Love & Thunder. However, Bale admitted in an interview that his role as the film’s primary villain did not require him to pull on his method acting muscles, and here is what the actor had to say about his approach to the role.

Christian Bale explained why he did not opt for method acting in Thor: Love & Thunder

'I Would've Loved to': Alec Baldwin Reveals Why Tim Burton Didn't Cast Him as Batman
Image
Michael Keaton famously starred as the Dark Knight in both of Tim Burton's Batman movies, and his performance remains a favorite for many fans of the DC character. The role could have gone to the actor's Beetlejuice co-star, Alec Baldwin, but Burton didn't feel he was right for the role.

Baldwin discussed the subject during a recent interview for his brother Stephen Baldwin's podcast One Bad Movie. He noted how his ex-wife, Kim Basinger, has a role as Vicki Vale in the original Batman film by Burton. Baldwin then explained that Basinger told him that she'd spoken with Burton about why he wound up casting Keaton as Bruce Wayne. This was said to be because Burton was looking for someone who'd make a more believable Bruce Wayne than Batman, and the director was having trouble imagining Baldwin such a troubled character.

"Well, back then, he said, he told my ex-wife,...

Pendulum: Jacki Weaver joins Darren Aronofsky-produced horror film

Audiences Are Already Growing Weary of Tom Hardy’s Vicious New Action Movie
Image
Tom Hardy’s new action movie has been streaming on Netflix for a week, but fans are already starting to lose interest in the film. Things didn’t look all that bad for Havoc the day before its debut — it landed with a solid score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes — but the feedback from general audiences has told a different story. The audience score on the aggregate site currently sits at 39%, making it one of the lowest-rated movies of Tom Hardy’s career. Havoc spent less than a week in the #1 spot on Netflix, and its descent has already begun. The film has dropped to the #2 spot on the streamer’s top 10, now falling behind Exterritorial, the mystery action thriller written and directed by Christian Zübert.

For the Tom Hardy fans who perhaps didn’t enjoy Havoc but are looking for something else to watch, look no further than MobLand.

Tom Hardy’s 'Havoc' Accent Gets a Mixed Response From Netflix Viewers
Image
After waiting four, long years, action movie fans had reason to celebrate this weekend as the Tom Hardy-led Netflix thriller, Havoc, was released at last. However, while many have quickly found themselves wonderfully wrapped up in Hardy and The Raid director Gareth Evans’ bullet-ridden tale of a bruised detective forced to battle his way into the criminal underworld, there is one thing that stood out to many viewers. And it’s been met with a mixed response...

Oscar-nominee Tom Hardy has become known for his hardman persona and intensity on-screen. But there’s something else he’s become somewhat infamous for too: accents. Whether it be mumbling through Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant, delivering something highly unexpected vocally with Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, or providing two very different voices as Eddie Brock and Venom in the Marvel franchise, Hardy loves to do a voice. Havoc is no different,...

Havoc Movie Cast And Characters Guide
Image
Eight years after his last feature, Director Gareth Evans has returned to his favorite crime action genre with Netflix’s Havoc, a no-nonsense kill-or-be-killed venture that fires on all cylinders to deliver a memorable, bone-crushing, blood-splattering action spectacle. Aside from that, what makes Havoc really special amidst the director’s filmography is that there is a distinct pulp-noir style quotient evoked by the visuals, with all the elements of grunge, smoke, and darkness capturing the essence of corruption, a kind of world-building usually seen when characters like Batman or the Shadow are involved. The characterization, much like the plot details, is very simplistic—in most cases not that much developed, but it is enough to provide justification to the maddening violence and bloodshed, which makes viewers forget about any possible drawbacks anyway. There is some solid star power in the ensemble cast of Havoc, a discussion of which can’t...

Tom Hardy Says the Oscars Need to Add More Than One Stunt Category
Image
It was recently announced that the Oscars will add a new category for Best Achievement in Stunt Design at the 100th Academy Awards in 2028. The news was met with much fanfare from the stunt community and various industry figures, who have long sought recognition for the technical and creative artists behind the physical feats seen on screen. Venom actor Tom Hardy is among the commentators who have spoken out to celebrate the change, acknowledging that it's "a great start," but the ceremony could benefit from further updates.

Hardy, who has starred in several action-heavy movies throughout his career, including Mad Max: Fury Road, The Dark Knight Rises, and the brutal new Netflix thriller Havoc, shared his reaction to the Oscars adding a Stunt Design category during a recent interview with ExtraTV. He recognized that it is a positive step in the right direction for the Academy Awards, but that more...

Scarecrow Terrorizes Gotham With New ‘Batman Begins’ Hot Toys & McFarlane Toys Figures
Image
It's hard to believe that the start of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knighttrilogy, Batman Begins, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The Batman origin story returned the DC hero back to his dark and gothic roots while giving the franchise a romanticism that wasn't seen in previous installments. The film also started Nolan’s “realistic” reinventions of some of The Caped Crusader’s most popular villains. This included Scarecrow, played by Cillian Murphy. Now the fear-based villain is getting new figures from Hot Toys and McFarlane Toys.

The first figure from Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys is the ⅙ scale Scarecrow 2.0. This features Murphy's Dr. Jonathan Crane in his signature scary mask and standard gray suit he's seen wearing at his job at Arkham Asylum. The piece has a new Murphy head sculpt and two different burlap sack masked heads. The figure also comes with a scream-worthy number of accessories,...

The Animated Batman Movie You Didn't Know Was A Prequel To The Dark Knight
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

If you're a Batman fan (or even if you aren't), you must've heard of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" Trilogy. Led by Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, these three movies — "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight," and "The Dark Knight Rises" — have raised the bar for every Batman movie made since. But are there truly only three Dark Knight movies?

The 2008 animated feature "Batman: Gotham Knight" was released as a tie-in to "The Dark Knight." Warner Bros. sold the film as a prequel to their new blockbuster, set between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight."

"Gotham Knight" is not a single-feature, but an anthology of six shorts, each one with a different director and writer. The six shorts lead into each other, forming a narrative thread but still an episodic one. The shorts, which offer treats for both Batman and anime fans,...

1 of the Best Superhero Movies of All Time Is Trending Again on Streaming 17 Years After Release
Image
For years, comic books have been adapted into films or television, some of them more successful than others. However, there are a few titles that are universally praised as impeccable films.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan helmed one of the most influential superhero trilogies, The Dark Knight Trilogy. The films started in 2005 with Batman Begins, continued with 2008's The Dark Knight, and 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. Although all three of them received praise for different reasons,The Dark Knight is largely the most haunting of them all, and is often referred to as the best superhero movie of all time. Its influence is undeniable, as The Dark Knight has just become a hit again on Netflix, 17 years after its release, via Tudum.

Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy was released on Apr. 1 in the U.S. in its entirety. However, only one film drew the attention of several subscribers: The Dark Knight.

Every Christopher Nolan Movie, Ranked by How Confusing They Are
Image
Watching a Christopher Nolan movie isn’t just a night at the movies, it’s a full-blown mental obstacle course. One minute you’re vibing with epic visuals, and the next you’re questioning the flow of time, the laws of physics, and maybe even your own reality. Did that just happen? Are we dreaming? Do we need to watch it again with subtitles and a notebook?

Nolan’s signature style is cerebral, cool, and confusing in the best (and sometimes most frustrating) ways. Some of his films ease you in with sleek storytelling, while others feel like you need a physics degree and three flowcharts just to keep up. And because we’re all still trying to figure out what the heck a “temporal pincer movement” really is, it’s only fair we rank every Nolan movie by how much they’ve made our brains hurt.

So if you...

Christopher Nolan’s Lost Horror Movie Has Resurfaced And You Can Watch it Here … For Now
Image
Christopher Nolan is known for crafting cinematic epics, often within the world of science fiction. From Inception to Interstellar, Nolan dabbles in genre to create his deeply affecting stories that have. But did you know that Nolan once made a horror short film titled Tarantella? In fact, according to IMDb, it’s the first film Nolan ever made. The film has been lost for 32 years, but just a few days ago, The Great Cinema uploaded the film to their YouTube channel, finally giving Nolan fans a glimpse into the auteur’s young brain.

At just under five minutes long, the 1989 short film follows a young man experiencing nightmares about big spiders and demons. It’s rather surreal in its editing and cinematography, and serves as a fascinating precursor to one of Nolan’s first feature films, Memento, which was released in 2000. Tarantella feels like a young Nolan working through the...

Christopher Nolan Movies Ranked: From Worst to Best
Image
It’s time to look at the work of one of the greatest directors of our generation: Christopher Nolan. How big is Nolan these days? Interstellar, a movie which was never among the director’s top grossers, hit IMAX screens last week for its tenth anniversary, and screenings have been selling out constantly. The fact is – Nolan makes movies that belong on the big-screen, and he’s one of the few directors who’s arguably become his own franchise. For proof of that, one need only look at the fact that he’s planning a new movie, and the cast is jampacked with A-listers, because Everyone wants to work with Nolan.

A caveat – our Christopher Nolan movies ranked list is just one person’s opinion, and his work is divisive. Everyone has their favourites (and least favourites), so I’m hoping this ranking will open up some discussion in the comments below.

Tom Hardy Cried After Toxic DC Fans Attacked Him for His Physique as Bane in The Dark Knight
Image
“People throw rocks at things that shine”, Taylor Swift sang in Ours. And oh, did they hurl boulders at Tom Hardy. Now, we’re not usually one to wear our heart on our sleeve, but come on—when someone pours sweat into steel, grits their teeth through deadlifts, and stacks on some 30 pounds of pure ‘bad guy muscle’, only to get dragged through the digital mud… that stings.

Hardy’s take on Bane in The Dark Knight Rises had the venom, the voice, and the vices, but apparently, for some fans, it lacked the ‘venomous bulk’ they were expecting.

At a press event in L.A., Hardy, half-serious and half-salted, quipped that he “cries” reading online backlash. And yeah, he laughed. But there’s truth in jest—he does take the comments to heart. And...

Everything We Know About Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’
Image
As casting announcements continue to roll in, speculation and excitement has only grown surrounding Christopher Nolan’s follow-up to his critical and box office hit “Oppenheimer,” which won him the Academy Award for best director.

“The Odyssey” is a classic piece of literature by Homer that is divided between 24 different books, preceded by “The Iliad.” It tells the 10-year journey story of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, as he travels home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he encounters multiple perils and discovers the death of his crewmates. Telemachus (Odysseus’ son), Penelope (Odysseus’ wife), Athena, Circe, Poseidon and Zeus are all major characters.

Historians and scholars date “The Odyssey” to sometime between 750-650 BC. The first printed Greek version became available in 1488. In the centuries since, it has remained one of the most studied, adapted and parodied stories ever with adaptations including the 1911 silent film by Giuseppe de Liguoro, 1954’s...

When Christian Bale Said Heath Ledger’s Joker “Ruined” His Plans In The Dark Knight Because Of This Reason
Image
Why Did Christian Bale Say Heath Ledger’s Joker Ruined His Plans? ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

Christian Bale played Batman in what many fans called the gold standard of superhero cinema. But while the world raved about The Dark Knight, Bale quietly walked away feeling like his own performance missed the mark. And the reason? Heath Ledger.

In a surprisingly candid throwback interview with Yahoo!, Bale admitted, “I didn’t quite manage what I hoped I would. Chris did, but my own sense of self is like, ‘I didn’t quite nail it.’ Heath turned up and just kind of completely ruined all my plans. Because I went, ‘He’s so much more interesting than me and what I’m doing.” That line said with a touch of admiration, captured the shockwave Ledger’s Joker sent through Gotham and the film itself.

When The Dark Knight hit theaters in 2008, it exploded past the comic book mold.

James Gunn Shares New Behind-the-Scenes Look at Superman and Lex Luthor
Image
Both Superman/Clark Kent (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) have appeared in all the promotional footage teasing the highly anticipated Superman film. Eager audiences have even caught glimpses of Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi). However, fans had yet to witness the Man of Steel going toe-to-toe with Luthor, but James Gunn has finally released a brand-new photo (below) with himself, Corenswet, and Hoult on the set of Superman, courtesy of Collider. It's unclear what’s happening in the scene, but Superman is wearing his trademark Kryptonian costume, while Luthor appears dashing and dapper, despite not sporting his finely tailored jacket.

Unfortunately, the photo is clearly a behind-the-scenes image because Gunn and Corenswet are all smiles, and Hoult has his back to the camera. Rumors have caused fans to speculate online that Brainiac is actually the true villain of this summer’s long-awaited Superman movie,...

10 Best Joey King Movies & TV Shows, Ranked
Image
At just 25 years old (as of writing), Joey King has been featured in over 70 films and television shows dating as far back as 2006. Given the sheer volume of work she takes on, it's not shock that many of these have been critical and commercial duds you've either never heard of or wish you'd never heard of, like the "Final Destination" riff-off "Wish Upon," the middling ghost romance "The In Between," and the irredeemably pandering sci-fi thriller "Uglies."

At the same time, King has consistently turned high-quality performances in some memorable projects. Fans of "The Dark Knight Rises," "Crazy Stupid Love," and "The Conjuring" are proof that she's been ready for almost any acting challenge since she first appeared on a screen. From her extensive resume, we picked out our favorite roles and ranked them based on quality and how well they showcase King as an actor.

The Dark Knight Rises Still Holds A Box Office Record That Even Marvel & Avatar Couldn’t Beat!
Image
The Dark Knight Rises Billion ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

It’s been over a decade since The Dark Knight Rises swooped into theaters with that gritty, brooding Nolan magic, and yet it’s still out here flexing like a legend. No multiverse. No sky portals. No talking raccoons or blue aliens riding flying dragons. Just Bane breaking backs, Batman rising (literally), and Gotham teetering on the edge of chaos.

Christopher Nolan really went all in with this finale, epic stakes, bombastic score, and that ending that had fans debating for years. And somehow, even in this age of superhero overload, it still holds a title most caped crusaders and cosmic space warriors haven’t touched.

Yup, The Dark Knight Rises may not be part of a sprawling cinematic universe, but it made its mark with pure storytelling grit, a stacked cast, and some unforgettable IMAX-worthy moments. So while the MCU continues...

Man On Fire: Jayson Dumenigo To Become Third Stunt Man In Movie History To Earn Oscar Recognition Thanks To His Burn Gel
Image
On April 29, Jayson Dumenigo will get the recognition he and his fellow stunt performers have been wanting for decades from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — but he had to set fire to a bunch of people to get it.

Dumenigo will receive an Academy plaque for developing a hydrogel that allows daredevils like himself to burn hotter on camera for longer periods of time. His product, through his Action Factory shingle, isn’t exactly new — he created the clear gel that can be smeared on skin or clothes 15 years ago — but his spectacular fire work on the upcoming John Wick spinoff Ballerina prompted Dumenigo to finally submit himself for the Academy’s Scientific and Engineering Awards.

Make no mistake, Dumenigo is beyond proud of the performance of his gel that is widely used in film and TV. The Santa Clarita Valley dad sounds like Donald Sutherland’s...

Everything to know about ‘The Batman 2’: Returning cast, filming delays, title change
Image
Director Matt Reeves' version of The Batman hit theaters in 2022 and jump-started the post-covid box office with a dynamic $369 million domestic and $772 million worldwide. Critics were enraptured by Robert Pattinson's darker, grittier, noir-style caped crusader, giving the DC Studios movie an 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a 72 score on Metacritic — not too shabby for a comic-book character who's been skulking around Gotham City since 1939.

With every successful blockbuster comes the inevitable sequel announcement, and The Batman was no different. But ever since being green-lit by Warner Bros., the follow-up has been hampered with production hiccups and delayed at least a year on the release schedule. Read on for everything to know about The Batman 2.

The announcement

Mere months after The Batman was released in March 2022, the sequel was officially announced at CinemaCon in April 2022. Pattinson would return as reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne who fought crime as the gruff-voiced Batman,...

Darren Aronofsky’s Hate for Method Actors is Justified After Christian Bale Rejected One of His Best Movies – A $359M Biblical Epic
Image
The art of method acting has been questioned, talked about, hated, and loved for decades, and it is still as controversial as ever. Director Darren Aronofsky is a hater of method acting, and it seems that he has a good reason for it, too.

Christian Bale, who is known for his wide range of acting skills, is a well-known method actor, and back in 2011, Bale refused to star in one of Darren Aronofsky’s iconic movies called Noah.

It’s not just Darren Aronofsky, either, but several directors and actors also hate the term “method acting” and everything that it encompasses. Several acclaimed artists like Daniel Day-Lewis and Christian Bale have found accolades and fame for their skills.
