New year, new Hulu! As the streamer welcomes in dozens of new and classic titles this January, including its new whodunit series “Death and Other Details,” it will first have to say goodbye to the old.
A few titles have already been removed from the library so far this month, including the hit samurai thriller “13 Assassins,” but over the next few weeks of January, dozens more titles will be leaving the platform, including the beloved baseball coming-of-age comedy “The Sandlot,” several Christmas classics, and the 1996 box office buster “Twister.”

Thirty years ago, Liz Phair released her indie-rock masterpiece Exile in Guyville, on June 22, 1993. It’s a massive moment in the history of the Weird Girl canon. Liz was just an ordinary twenty-something geek in the Chicago indie scene of Wicker Park, going out every night to see hipster bands, hanging out in dive bars, and getting her heart broken. It was a Guyville, where she was just another girl. But she had a secret that nobody knew: she was writing songs about the whole experience. And she was singing...

The month of April for Hulu is jam-packed with TV and film goodies, from Adam Sandler’s 1999 comedy “Big Daddy” to Fox’s hit sitcom “New Girl.”
On top of Hulu’s rollout of a new interface, it’s also adding some major film and TV titles to its platform. Some of the highlights that set off the first day of April include “American Psycho,” “Shrek” and its sequel “Shrek 2,” plus the Tim Story-directed “Think Like a Man.”
Anime series will be all the rage on Hulu with the dubbed version of the new popular series “Chainsaw Man” arriving, along with “Spy x Family” and “Black Clover.” If you’re looking for something a little bit more kid-friendly, the family can al enjoy “Despicable Me” and “Despicable 2,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” and “Nanny McPhee.” For the lovers and heartless romantics, “Dear John” and “Date Night...

Even if you’ve signed up for every streaming service out there, it can feel monumental when a title moves from one to another. In April, Netflix mainstay “New Girl” moves to Hulu; still streaming, but not where fans are used to finding it — like rearranging the furniture in your apartment and waking up surprised every day that the couch is over there now.
But what’s important is that “New Girl” lives on, now joining Hulu’s own TV and movie library and originals from Freeform, FX, National Geographic, and more. Later in the month, Leila Gerstein’s “Saint X” — based on the novel by Alexis Schaitkin — premieres with three episodes, recounting the story of a young girl found dead during a family vacation and the sister piecing it together years later. Alycia Debnam-Carey, Josh Bonzie, West Duchovny, Jayden Elijah, Bre Francis, Kenlee Anaya Townsend, Betsy Brandt, and Michael Park star.

Surviving Faces members Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, and Kenney Jones have reformed to record new songs, according to a new interview with Wood in The Times. The trio has reunited for a handful of brief live appearances in recent years, but there hasn’t been a new Faces album since 1973’s Ooh La La. A spokesperson for Stewart did not immediately respond to Rolling Stones’ request for comment.
The Faces broke up in 1975 due to Stewart’s success as a solo act. Guitarist Wood joined the Rolling Stones later that year,...

Director Jason Reitman is currently shooting Ghostbusters 3 and a new set photo and video from the set of the film has surfaced that I think you’ll be interested in checking out.
The video features the Ecto-1 in action as it’s racing down the street and it also shows off a new upgrade. As you’ll see, the back car door opens backwards and there’s a seat that extends outside of the car, where a rider can sit to get a shot at whatever target they are after with one of their Ghostbusters weapons.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disney’s immense new theme park within Disneyland, opens this June. Construction’s proceeding quite well, from what we understand, with workers now putting the finishing touches to the outer rim planet of Batuu, which is described as a “remote frontier outpost” on which guests will be able to explore sights like a fully stocked cantina and a life-sized Millennium Falcon.
Everything we’ve heard makes it sound like absolute heaven for Star Wars fans who want to properly immerse themselves in a galaxy far, far away. But while the majority of attention is on the new park itself, it seems that Disney’s busy altering the existing park, too, so as to best serve Galaxy’s Edge.

It’s time to say goodbye to the De Niro Capone touch from The Untouchables. A meatier, bulkier project that would certainly rev up Sundance audiences, Josh Trank might not have a history with Sundance as a filmmaker, but as an editor, he cut Robert Siegel’s Big Fan (2009). Fonzo was momentarily placed on the backburner until the film’s star Tom Hardy was done filming Venom. Production took place this past April with Linda Cardellini grabbing a more meaningful part than her recent turn in Green Book, Matt Dillon, Kyle MacLachlan, Kathrine Narducci joining the imprisoned mobster. Be fun to see stoogies passed out on Main Street.…...

It's no secret that Pirates of the Caribbean is a global phenomenon. But, when the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures movie had its world premiere at Disneyland on June 28, 2003, few could have predicted it would be the success it is today. Pirates is the ninth highest grossing film franchise in history, earning $4,524,358,182 at the global box office after last year's fifth film: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl premiered in theaters nationwide 11 days later, on July 9, 2003. The original film's world premiere shut down the theme park. A red carpet was rolled out on Main Street so Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom could sign autographs and take...

Films by Charlie Chaplin, Cecil B. DeMille, and Buster Keaton are among the “hundreds of thousands” of books, musical scores, and motion pictures that will enter the public domain on January 1, according to The Atlantic. All of the works were first made available to audiences in 1923, four years before the introduction of talkies. Due to changed copyright laws, this will be the largest collection of material to lose its copyright protections since 1998.
Artists looking to incorporate black-and-white era throwbacks into their modern creations will have lots of new options. The Atlantic consulted unpublished research from Duke University School of Law’s Center for the Study of the Public Domain, which shared with IndieWire a list of 35 films that will soon become available to all.

This week on The Dead Files, Amy Allan and Steve Dischiavi head to Minnesota and a Sauk Centre hotel with more than history lurking in its rooms. The small city of Sauk Centre lies in Stearns County, Minnesota, and has few things to make it notable other than a famous son and The Palmer House hotel, which is said to be haunted. Nobel Prize winner author Sinclair Lewis grew up in the city and his 1920 novel Main Street was set in the town. Oscars frontrunner Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri stars Frances McDormand as a mother seeking violent justice for the murder of her daughter. Its writer-director explains why McDormand’s character is the foul-mouthed heroine we need, and addresses the controversy of the film’s portrayal of race relations
There’s no stopping Mildred Hayes, the mighty heroine of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. She’s out on a mission to find her daughter’s killer, swinging down Main Street like a pint-sized wrecking ball. She’s upending social niceties, trampling taboos and liable to flatten anyone in her path. As embodied by Frances McDormand, Mildred is the perfect emblem for the age of Harvey Weinstein and #MeToo – a hard-bitten, fiery angel of vengeance. Yet, tellingly, this virago is also the creation of a male writer-director. And just maybe he sees something of himself in her, too.

Conceived and created before the Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Sundance’s documentaries straddle one of the most profound cultural and political shifts in the United States’ recent history.
As the country is forced to grapple with a new range of issues in the post-Obama age, documentarians are also now straining to catch up. You could see it on the screen at Sundance, where last-act codas and recent news snippets suggested how the triumph of Trump had impacted, and in some cases, undermined the stories being told. The story of the election is explicitly told in “Trumped: Inside the Greatest Political Upset of All Time,” but even when Trump wasn’t presented, the country’s conservative turn—and the pain and fractures it has caused among many of its citizens—may influence the way these films are received and understood.

Over the last few years, many fans of The Walking Dead have packed their bags, hopped in their cars, and headed to the Senoia, Georgia area to experience firsthand the environment where their favorite living dead show is filmed. A trip to The Woodbury Shoppe is a common stop for these road tripping fright fans, and a new addition to The Shoppe, The Waking Dead Café, recently opened its doors.
At The Waking Dead Café, you can nibble on a Daryl Dixon angel wings cookie, get your caffeine kick, or stroll around the custom-made interior that replicates memorable places from the show, including the prison (a tribute that features cell doors) and the treacherous trail to Terminus.

If the woman who made this call is reading this, we'd like to say one thing—bravo. An interesting and memorable story was shared recently during an AskReddit thread that asked 911 operators the one call they remember. Reddit user Crux1836, later identified as former police dispatcher Keith Weisinger, shared the tale of once getting a late-night call while working the 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. graveyard shift. What he initially thought was a prank call turned out to be a woman who was in great need of help but had to speak in code. As written by Weisinger, the call went as follows: "911, where is you emergency?" "123 Main St." "Ok, what's going on...

It sounds as if Peter Parker has fallen on hard times! Police have confirmed that a criminal wearing a Spider-Man mask robbed a store in Lewiston-Auburn, Maine, early on Monday morning. Officers have revealed that they are currently on the hunt for a man that robbed a Big Apple store that is located on 296 Main St. in the twin cities. In order to hide his true identity the sneaky criminal donned a Spider-Man mask. He was probably hoping that Parker would get the blame. However this story does feature a rather terrifying detail as the thief threated the Big Apple clerk with a knife before he demanded the money in the store. Jason Moen, who is the Deputy Chief at Lewiston-Auburn, revealed further details surrounding the crime, explaining that the suspect made away with an undetermined amount of money and fled the scene of foot after the incident took place...

When he was one day past four months old last February, Landon Shaw kept vomiting and losing weight, prompting his anxious parents to take him to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. The diagnosis: a rare malignant cancer that affects the kidneys, liver, lungs and brain. "I held our son so tight asking God why?" Landon's mom, Alyssa, wrote on Facebook. Friends and neighbors in their small northwest Missouri town of Tarkio, population 1,500, began asking what they could do - and to everyone's surprise, the answer was a wet, splashy campaign of love and support that has gone coast-to-coast and to several countries.

Screwball comedy movies, rare screenings of epic box office disaster: Library of Congress’ Packard Theater in April 2014 (photo: Cary Grant and Irene Dunne in ‘The Awful Truth’) In April 2014, the Library of Congress’ Packard Campus Theater in Culpeper, Virginia, will celebrate Hollywood screwball comedy movies, from the Marx Brothers’ antics to Peter Bogdanovich’s early ’70s homage What’s Up, Doc?, a box office blockbuster starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal. Additionally, the Packard Theater will present a couple of rarities, including an epoch-making box office disaster that led to the demise of a major studio. Among Packard’s April 2014 screwball comedies are the following: Leo McCarey’s Duck Soup (Saturday, April 5) — actually more zany, wacky, and totally insane than merely "screwball" — in which Groucho Marx stars as the recently (un)elected dictator of Freedonia, abetted by siblings Harpo Marx and Chico Marx, in addition to Groucho’s perennial foil,...

Unlike the other Best Picture-nominated producers, who each have one film in a field of nine, Megan Ellison has two: American Hustle (directed by David O. Russell) and Her (directed by Spike Jonze). Both films have already hoarded numerous awards on the critics circuit, grossed a combined $200+ million worldwide, earned fifteen total Academy Award nominations, and both have a legitimate shot at winning the Best Picture prize–needless to say, it’s been a big year for Ellison. And what’s more interesting, perhaps, is that these are far and away the most eccentric films on the Best Picture ticket. This speaks, at least in part, to Megan Ellison’s producing style, which has raised a few eyebrows in Hollywood recently.

Cocksucker Blues
USA, 1972
Directed by Robert Frank
Rock critics, like film critics, abhor a narrative vacuum. Blues begets R&B begets rock n’ roll, which begets the British Invasion, and from there, it’s a multi-pronged evolution into hard rock, glam, punk, and onwards into a million sundry subgenres. Each generation repels against their forbears and creates a new antithesis. The promising rise and the disastrous fall of whoever, precipitating the ascension of the next comers. The straight narrative throughline, complete with its obvious conclusions and waves of comforting familiarity, is the ultimate rock journalist catnip. It’s no surprise, then, that rock movies, whether narrative or documentary, straight or parodic, epic or intimate, tend towards the creation and upholding of rock and roll logic and mythos. Hell, Cameron Crowe made both a life and (most of) a career out of finding a place for himself in that mustiest of Rock Myth chronicles,...

Before the film opens this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, the official poster is here for SpectreVision and Glacier Films’ horror/comedy Cooties, directed by Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott.
The film stars Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson, Alison Pill, Jack McBrayer, Nasim Pedrad, Leigh Whannell, Ian Brennan, Kate Flannery and Jorge Garcia and was co-written by Leigh Whannell (co-creator and writer of the Saw and Insidious franchises), and Ian Brennan (co-creator/executive producer of “Glee”).
In Cooties, a mysterious virus hits a small Illinois town affecting only the prepubescent population, transforming them into violent, feral little monsters. The virus centralizes in the town’s elementary school, and quickly the infected students have the teaching staff under siege, acting out deadly revenge fantasies with an eerie sense of childlike glee. Finally, the teachers band together, led by a hapless substitute who grew up in the town, realizing they must do...

1. Michael Jordan marries Yvette Prieto
Michael Jordan married Yvette Prieto last weekend in Jupiter, Fl and Et has a look at the location said to have housed a thousand or so guests for the NBA star's wedding celebration!
In an aerial photo, courtesy of JeffRealty.com, we see Jordan's 40,000 sq. ft. wedding tent (5,000 sq. ft. larger than the former basketball player's 35,000 sq. ft. home) set on golfer Jack Nicklaus' driving range. It is reportedly the "largest wedding tent in history."
Jordan, 50, proposed to model Prieto over the Christmas holiday this past year. The wedding ceremony took place at Bethesda by the Sea Episcopal Church in Palm Beach, Florida -- the same church that provided the setting for Donald and Melania Trump's 2005 wedding.
This will be the athlete's second time at the altar, having previously wed Juanita Vanoy in 1989. The couple called it quits in 2006 after 18 years of marriage...

There's a lot of Spider-Man awesomeness going on in New York right now, and we've got a few more photos from the set of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featuring Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man and Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon. There's also few videos that show off a chase scene being filmed. I wonder when we're going to get our first look at Paul Giamatti as The Rhino!
The Marc Webb-directed film also stars Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley, Colm Feore, and Sally Field. It's set to be released on May 2nd, 2014. I'm glad they went with the more classic Spider-Man costume this time around.

Exclusive set picture reveal the thug that was driving the tow truck through the main street in Rochester, NY, while being chased by a dozen police cars. The resemblance between this stuntman and actor Paul Giamatti are uncanny. The stuntman/driver has a typical Russian 90's mob stereotype look. If that's indeed Paul Giamatti's stunt double - Rhino's presence in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is guaranteed.
