A thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a CEO.
The painting that Mal stares at in Saito's dream, greatly resembles work done by Francis Bacon. Christopher Nolan and Heath Ledger used Bacon's artwork as a visual reference for the character of The Joker in The Dark Knight (2008).
He was delirious but asked for you by name. Show him...
Japanese Security Guard: He was carrying nothing but this...
Japanese Security Guard: And this...
Saito: Are you here to kill me?
In the opening scene, when Saito is presented with Cobb's totem, it is shown upside down, immediately after being placed on the table properly.
The movie title never appears in the beginning of the movie, but appears three times during the end credits. Once at the beginning, again after the main actors and developers, and once more at the very end.
