    Y tu papa tambien

Well - I reckon this can be taken the wrong way. So let's be clear: no pun intended and no real connection made between the movies. It is fitting though, because our main character here (the son) is looking for his father. The anchor that he feels has been missing from him - whether this is true or not ... well we'll have to wait and see, don't we? That was more rhetorical of course.

It is a bit of a road movie, it is clearly a drama ... and it might not be everyones cup of tea. The main character is more than troubled. And his mother has quite a lot to deal with too. I like the (slow) way this is moving ... I like how the characters interact with each other. Not always in the best way (making mistakes) ... but it does feel real ... this is about trying to figure stuff out (about our past), while we walk towards our future ...

    Without sense

This movie manages to be incongruous and its characters are very irritating.

The script of this film is very bad, nothing is ever resolved, conflicts are created in a very stupid way, the main character is supposed to be a psychologist, but she cannot analyze the reason for her son's behavior, because if she did, there would be no film, there is no development of anything, the character of the son is very irritating since he is selfish, rude and very bad mannered, one thing is to be a teenager and not control your emotions and another thing is to be selfish with your own mother, I think that there are some characters that don't contribute anything to the story, just as there are situations that don't contribute anything either. The performances are not very good, they only stand out when there is some emotional breakdown, the format of handling two languages in the original version is very unnecessary. The movie ends very abruptly, without resolving the main conflict, the movie also tries to be funny but it is not.

It is a somewhat emotional comedy that never convinces its poorly developed story, just as its selfish characters do not convince, leading it to go unnoticed and turning it into just another bad movie.

Oh, did I just watch Scream 6 ?

Because that's 99% of what people do in this movie.

Director is in love with Sinatra, let's just get that outta the way, because it makes as much sense as his whole movie.

If you like Barbara Mori, please don't watch this movie. You'll absolutely hate her after; and not because she did a great job as an antagonist you'll love-to-hate-her, but because she basically shouted all her lines from beginning to end.

It was completely unnecessary and didn't help any scene at all. The director/writer should pay to have this online, it's torture!

Script is trash, nothing original, the whole movie is spent fighting/shouting and then some scenery. Then repeat again.

There's a few very bad attempts at comedy, poorly written and executed.

The real funny thing is that people speak to each other in their own language, Americans; English and Mexicans; Spanish, but magically everything is understood... oh except for one teenager who switches back and forth between the two languages every other word.

Man this guy director/writer must have mailed this one in. What sad display.

    Such a waste of time

A movie with terrible story if we can call a story that is not fully explained, full of problems w/o solutions, none sense scenes, & unrealistic scenes when trying to explain a real problem, the only good thing this movie have is Barbara Mori as an actress. I'm incredibly disappointed with the lack of fluency in the story and the poor content. There was potential in the story but missing every time to hit the point. The producer did fantastic work, cameras and director I guess they did the best of what they could to interprete the best with what they have . But seriously Don't waste your time.

    Disappointed paternalistic and misogynistic

There are some good points to the film - it's filmed with some love. But in the end it is massively disappointing - so out of date - with that stereotypical misogyny and paternalism that you'd have hoped was now unacceptable in Mexico. I don't know who it is who played the father (Enrique) but whoever it is should be so ashamed at the role. You have to feel very sorry for the boy. Sebastian, with such a screwed up cast of people around him. Massively disappointing and embarrassing.
