ABC has handed an early Season 2 renewal to its breakout new crime drama High Potential. The light procedural starring Kaitlin Olson joins ABC’s flagship comedy Abbott Elementary in securing a spot on the network’s 2025-26 schedule. High Potential also joins the other standout 2024-25 freshman drama, CBS’ Matlock, in landing an early Season 2 renewal. Both were series originally ordered for last season but delayed due of the strikes.
The size of High Potential‘s Season 2 order is Tbd but is expected to be larger than Season 1, which consists of 13 episodes. Because of the show’s atypical production schedule and Olson’s commitment to her other series regular job on FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, filming on Season 1 had to wrap after its initial 13-episode order.

The Lincoln Lawyer has been somewhat of a surprise success on Netflix. The show was created by David E. Kelley, who has had a long run of success in television, but that does not mean that every show he touches turns to gold. Plus, The Lincoln Lawyer was an idea that seemed done, and who knew if anyone would want to watch.
Netflix took a chance in 2022 that the series would be at least a moderate success. It might have exceeded the streamer's expectations. Star Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, who plays Mickey Haller, had been in a bunch of movies and shows, but could he carry a series? As it turns out, he could.
The series follows an attorney who runs a law firm literally out of the back of his car, as he takes on cases of all sizes in Los Angeles. Sounds simple, sure, but also sounds like there could...

The Lincoln Lawyer ended its third season with a major cliffhanger, one that leaves its main character, Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), in a very precarious position. The series premiered on Netflix in 2022, following Mickey; he doesn’t exactly run his practice out of the back of his town car (he has an office), though his vehicle is an important aspect of his life. But will there be a fourth season? Below, we take a look at what we know about the drama’s future. Has The Lincoln Lawyer been renewed for Season 4? Yes! Production is slated to begin in February in Los Angeles. That’s good news, considering… How did the Season 3 finale end? The show left off on a major cliffhanger! A new report sheds light on the top streaming shows, which is led by a somewhat surprising Netflix drama. Despite the lack of platform-defining marquee shows like Netflix's Wednesday and Prime Video's Reacher, streaming television ended the year on a relative high thanks to the strength of new originals that debuted strong and several returning favorites.
This was evident with Nobody Wants This, the Kristen Bell and Adam Brody romantic comedy that climbed the charts late in 2024 and has been in the awards conversation. On the opposite end of the genre spectrum, Prime Video's Alex Cross adaptation premiered to a big audience in November and seemed to fill the void created by the absence of Reacher. This is in addition to well-established successes like Outer Banks season 4 and a pair of Taylor Sheridan dramas. But none of took the top spot.

There's so many networks, streamers, and television shows at our disposal! We're truly lucky as there's so many options out there. Though that can also get overwhelming at times and it can be difficult to keep track of the renewal status of all the productions. Well, that's what we're here for!
I personally believe 2025 is going to be a wonderful year for television, as we already have so many highly-anticipated shows confirmed to look forward to. Last year, and even before that in some cases, brought many greats to us as well. And some, not so great.
Whether you liked a series or not, there are some that are still stuck in that limbo phase of not being renewed or cancelled yet. There's more that aren't on this list, but these are the 16 streaming shows we'd like to get updates on soon to know whether they're canceled or renewed:

The page-to-screen adaptations keep on coming to Netflix, and this time, it's another BookTok hit that could become everyone's next Netflix guilty pleasure binge-watch.
On Jan. 9, Variety revealed that Netflix had officially snatched up the rights to Twisted Love, the best-selling romance novel by Ana Huang that has taken TikTok by storm and launched a full series of books. The outlet reports that the streamer secured the rights to Twisted Love and its three sequels for a television series adaptation. The deal for Huang's novels was said to be seven figures.
Apart from the news of Twisted Love being snagged by Netflix for a lucrative deal that would put it into millions of homes worldwide, there isn't any additional information about the in-development series adaptation. No writers or producers seem to currently be attached, and the show hasn't gotten an official green light. But with a seven-figure deal, this seems like a no brainer!

As a new year begins, Netflix fans may be worried about what shows may not survive in 2025.
Netflix viewers have sadly had to get used to the streamer’s tendency to cancel shows too early. 2024 saw several good shows like Dead Boy Detectives and Kaos cut short and why it’s hard to get into the streamer. They can surprise folks with longer renewals, such as two seasons for Ginny & George, and are likely to continue low-budget fare like Outer Banks and hits like Virgin River.
Still, Netflix is a business that has to cut down costs so it’s likely some fare won’t survive 2025. They can be popular shows, others more ignored, yet these are the ten Netflix series most likely to feel the axe in 2025, so enjoy them while you can.

The week of Nov. 18-24 was a good one to premiere a streaming show with “man” in the title.
Netflix’s A Man on the Inside and Paramount+’s Landman both ranked among the top five original streaming series in their first week on the charts. A Man on the Inside, starring Ted Danson as a widower who goes undercover in a retirement community working for a private investigator, drew 880 million minutes of viewing for the week. That’s either the second- or third-best debut for a streaming comedy in 2024, depending on whether you classify The Bear (1.23 billion minutes for the week of its season three premiere) as one. A new thriller on Netflix is beating some of the biggest blockbusters of the year in the latest streaming ranking. Because of the strike delays related to the writers and actors strikes, and also because of how long prestige series can take to move through production, Netflix made it known that some of its biggest originals wouldn't make a 2024 release date. That includes the Jenna Ortega-led supernatural horror Wednesday and the final season of Stranger Things.
The streamer was boosted by the breakout success of the romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This, led by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, which became one of the most-discussed new series. The Diplomat season 2 and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story built on the foundations of their first installments, with Outer Banks, Bridgerton, and The Lincoln Lawyer all continuing to draw massive viewership. A recently debuted thriller could end up being a significant hit.

Nielsen Streaming Top 10: ‘Cross’ Debuts at No. 1 With 1.3 Billion Minutes Viewed in First Four Days
“Cross,” the James Patterson adaptation starring Aldis Hodge, debuted at No. 1 on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, with 1.36 billion minutes watched during the week of Nov. 11 to Nov. 17. All eight episodes of the series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on Nov. 14, meaning the show was only available for four days during the viewing period.
The show, created by Ben Watkins and based on Patterson’s “Alex Cross” detective novels, performed particularly well with Black audiences, who accounted for 40% of total watch time.
Following behind at No. 2 on the overall top 10 is “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which landed on Disney+ on Nov. 14 and was the most-streamed movie of the viewing period. “Outer Banks” held on at No. 3 after five new episodes of the Netflix teen drama dropped on Nov. 7.
Rounding out the original series list are Netflix’s “The Lincoln Lawyer,” “Cobra Kai” and “The Diplomat”; Paramount+’s “Special Ops: Lioness” and...

The opening week of Cross was a big one for Prime Video.
The Amazon-owned streamer claimed the No. 1 overall spot on Nielsen’s streaming charts for Nov. 11-17 as Cross drew 1.36 billion minutes of viewing (the full eight-episode season premiered Nov. 14). The crime drama, starring Aldis Hodge and based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels, ranks as Prime Video’s second-best new series debut of 2024 behind Fallout. (Amazon says 40 million viewers worldwide watched at least some of Cross over its first three weeks of release.)
While Cross had a big opening, HBO’s DC Comics-based series The Penguin made its first appearance on the Nielsen charts for the week after its finale. The series had 595 million viewing minutes on Max for the week — and apparently has been landing just outside the acquired series top 10 for most of its run. “Cross” has crossed a major threshold. The Amazon Prime Video original secured over 1.36 billion minutes streamed from Nov. 11 to 17, making it the most streamed show or movie of that week. This accomplishment was especially impressive since the series beat the Marvel hit, “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
During its first week of landing on Disney+, “Deadpool & Wolverine” saw 1.34 billion minutes streamed. It should be noted that because “Cross” has a longer runtime than “Deadpool & Wolverine,” it’s likely that more people watched the latter though its total viewership number is smaller.
Based on James Patterson’s novels, the drama racked up over a billion views in its first four days. Viewers who watched at least 30 minutes of the series — a subset Nielsen refers to as “engaged viewers” — averaged watching about four episodes each.

Days of Our Lives fans have heard the name Catherina for about a year and a half. Konstantin used the “death” of his daughter to seek revenge on John Black, aka The Pawn, who allegedly killed her. He didn’t. Then, after Konstantin kicked the bucket, her name started popping up again when Cat Greene came on the scene. So it’s no surprise that Days has finally cast its Catherina, who’s alive and tangled up in Clyde’s web. Actress Susan Elena Matus debuted on the soap today.

The presidential election and the conclusion of the World Series helped drive overall TV use to a nine-month high in November. But despite those big events on linear TV platforms, both cable and broadcast outlets lost some share of viewing in Nielsen’s monthly platform rankings.
The ratings service’s Gauge snapshot for November also shows streaming hitting another all-time high in share of TV usage — the fourth such milestone in the past seven months — for the November period, which ran from Oct. 28-Nov. 24 and therefore doesn’t include Thanksgiving, one of the biggest broadcast viewing days of the year.
TV viewing as a whole rose by about 5 percent compared to October, driven by events across all platforms. Streaming services accounted for 41.6 percent of TV use for the month, up from 40.5 percent, with programming like Netflix’s Jake Paul-Mike Tyson boxing match and The Lincoln Lawyer, the most...

Time spent watching television hit a nine-month high in November, as viewing levels for the month grew 5% compared to October for the largest monthly total since February, according to Nielsen’s latest Gauge report.
The increase was attributed to sports, the presidential election and live streaming, all of which drove peak shares of TV for viewing categories each in separate weeks during the month. The typical Thanksgiving holiday surge in TV viewing will be included in the measurement firm’s December report.
Streaming viewership grew 7.6% in November, with the category posting a record share of 41.6%. Nielsen attributed the increase to viewers seeking solace from the atypical, election-fueled news cycle covered by many traditional TV networks, as well as streaming reaching 42.6% of TV viewing during the third week of the interval ending Nov. 24.

After a week off the charts, Netflix’s Outer Banks returned to the streaming rankings — shooting to No. 1 overall with the release of its latest batch of episodes.
The YA drama brought in 1.23 billion minutes of viewing for the week of Nov. 4-10, according to Nielsen; the second half of season four premiered on Nov. 7. That’s the highest weekly tally for Outer Banks since the season premiered in October, although still well below its biggest performances in season three.
The Diplomat (1.22 billion minutes) finished a close second, growing a little bit from its premiere week and remaining in second place overall. The Lincoln Lawyer gave up its No. 1 ranking but stayed above the billion-minute mark with 1.11 billion minutes of watch time.

In the latest example of the dominance of library titles on streaming, Gossip Girl soared onto Nielsen’s streaming Top 10 the first week of November after making its return to Netflix.
The YA favorite racked up 617M viewing minutes across Netflix, Max and Hulu from November 4 to 10, putting it at No. 10 overall. While the show never left Max or Hulu, it’s absence from the Nielsen streaming lists when it wasn’t on Netflix is pretty telling.
It will be interesting to see whether the title will continue to rise through the ranks and generate more viewership in the coming weeks, as we’ve seen many times over when beloved titles make their way to the streamer. Gossip Girl seems to be a pretty constant favorite, so it’s possible it will never pop the way that Suits or Lost did while still putting up continuously strong viewership.

Legal dramas often walk a fine line between being gripping and downright over-the-top, and while Suits had its charm (and plenty of swagger), The Lincoln Lawyer came in hot with something Suits just couldn’t quite match—raw, street-smart realism. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s take on Mickey Haller didn’t rely on designer suits or lofty office drama.

Nope, he operated straight out of the back seat of his Lincoln, taking the phrase on the go to a whole new level. The series delivered courtroom showdowns with a grittier edge, balancing the flash with some serious depth. Sure, Suits had the banter, but The Lincoln Lawyer made the law feel like it wasn’t just polished—it was personal.

Did Ghosts of Girlfriends Past make Matthew McConaughey’s take a break? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Having spent the ‘00s charming audiences with swoon-worthy roles, McConaughey decided he’d had enough. For about a decade, he was the rom-com leading man. From making hearts flutter in The Wedding Planner to teaching Kate Hudson how to lose a guy in 10 days and even helping Sarah Jessica Parker with a Failure to Launch, McConaughey dominated the feel-good romance scene. But by 2009, after wrapping up Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Jennifer Garner, the Texan heartthrob hit a creative crossroads.
“I wanted to try some other stuff,” he later shared, but Hollywood didn’t feel it. The industry had him pegged as the rom-com golden boy, and stepping out of that lane wasn’t encouraged. So McConaughey made a bold call: he quit. For two years, he ghosted Hollywood entirely.
The hiatus wasn’t exactly glamorous.

Set in 1991 Miami, “Dexter: Original Sin” follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness.

Christmas movies on Netflix are already hot — not frosty.
The streamer’s latest Global Top 10 list included three Christmas movies: Chad Michael Murray and Britt Robertson film “The Merry Gentlemen” debuting at No. 1, “Hot Frosty” slipping to number 2, and “Meet Me Next Christmas” with Christina Millian charting seventh in its third week on the list.
Forget Christmas — it’s not even Thanksgiving.
“The Merry Gentlemen” had 14.7 million views in the week of November 18, according to Netflix, while “Hot Frosty” with Lacey Chabert and Dustin Milligan had 12.7 million (it had 16 million views in its debut). “Meet Me Next Christmas” had 5.9 million views last week.
On the TV side, the new Mike Schur show “A Man on the Inside” starring Ted Danson crammed a lump of coal down “Arcane’s” chimney. “A Man on the Inside” debuted at number 1 with 6.9 million views, denying “Arcane” Season 2 the top spot. (The second “Arcane” season...

There’s a new entry in the Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise heading our way, with Jurassic World Rebirth set to reach theatres on July 2, 2025 – and during an interview with Empire, director Gareth Edwards said that the new movie goes back to what he loved about the original Jurassic Park.
News of the new Jurassic World movie first hit back in January, when it was revealed that the screenplay – by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, returning to the franchise for the first time since The Lost World: Jurassic Park – had already been written. The project was assembled in a mad scramble after that, with Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards ending up at the helm. This new Jurassic World movie won’t be featuring any returning lead characters from the previous Jurassic Park / Jurassic World movies, so describing it as a “Rebirth” could be accurate.
