The citizens of Ireland's County Cork come to the aid of a South American pilot who has crash landed in their town.
Demián Bichir's entire dialogue is in Spanish and not dubbed into English. It is subtitled for the audience. For the Irish villagers in the film who don't speak Spanish it is translated by Paco.
My father was a cattle thief, my mother - a drunk.
Paco Thomas: Eh... he was an orphan.
Demián Bichír gives a driving lesson to Jamie Kierans in a left hand drive Ford Fiesta (which they hardly had in Ireland in 1983) and the same car 'miraculously' turns into a right hand one in a later scene when Bichír collects Kerry Condon for a date.
The opening credits are preceded by a black screen with very small white text reading "Kind of inspired by a true story...".
