  • I from the states but enjoy watching UK cop shows. Just watched the first episode of season 19 and it had me rolling (No pun intended). Speaking of puns, whoever is writes the puns for this show deserves a pulitzer. "grave error." Still laughing at that one. Highly recommended for both the police work as well as the puns.
  • You might think this is all about cops racing around in a menagerie of hot Japanese rally cars. If you're looking for high octane, high pitch commentary over endlessly repeated 60 second clips forget it. This is good, measured documentary making.

The fly-on-the-wall style follows the exploits of an Essex traffic cop team, this show mixes that feel-good detail on how the police go about their business with allowing characters to come through. Segments vary from following full operations from start to finish to those random moments where the police demonstrate the better side of judgement. Everything from routine traffic stops to drugs-busts to changing helicopter engines(!)

Over the top of this is Chris Fox's measured commentary. And unlike quite a few other shows he seems to know when to let the on-screen action speak for itself.
  • I watch this show sometimes, mainly when there is nothing else on. I have to be honest I find it depressing. I've read comments here about bad policing, racism (of course) and wastes of tax payers money but the truth is people do not accept authority anymore. Our police force is under funded, under-staffed and has had its teeth pulled for fear of offending anyone. Don't get me wrong I would never support police officers who over step the mark or fit people up but Christ on a bike if I had to go into work everyday and take the shizz that they get thrown at them while they try to parent other peoples kids, attend to the mentally ill and the addicted and then solve the multitude of crimes that include everything from minor traffic offences to gangland murder and then at the end of the day see the people they deal with often let off with a slap on the wrist because trying to convict is too costly and there is no where to put them! Honestly I'd kill myself! The police are not responsible for the way society is, that is where we come into it.
  • If you're interested in policing and traffic pursuits in the UK this show is for you.

    We need more episodes.....

Sgt kev salter Jacko Spike Lee Paul Dan Dog handlers The only ones worth watching.

  • This has entertaining police chases and can be a relaxing banal way of spending an evening. However, more recently I have began to realise the well-meaning but inherent prejudice in many of those being covered. For example, why does the old white man who refuses to have the right paperwork get a knowing ticking off while the Eastern European father of three gets a fine and several month ban? Don't get me wrong, lots of British people get punished, but this type of unconscious bias becomes increasingly apparent as I watch these predominantly white male police chasers travel the country.

Peak british entertainment, perfect 11am viewing, love the officer intros they always make me chuckle, music is always awesome, again.. peak british entertainment. Love that it's always in yorkshire makes me feel proper at home, car chases in leeds/bradford are always the best. As soon as i hear that intro music from my living room i run downstairs and sit enthralled with my cup of tea in hand, biscuit tin on the table. Me and my dad love a good afternoon of watching police interceptors together and giggling at the comebacks the criminals come up with, excellent bonding for all the family. 100% would recommend xx.

Cops acting like buffoons and doing a terrible job.
  • I struggle to understand why the police willingly feature in a show which so clearly highlights their stupidity. If this is supposed to highlight the creme of their ability, they are sadly mistaken and should be ashamed. It's no wonder that people no longer have any respect for what was once the police force but has be relegated to being there police service. These shows should be withdrawn from television and order should be restored. Further, our illiterate and feeble supposed public protectors need to have their power restored and their embarrassing lack of ability to serve and protect to be reversed. When I watch this show, for some reason I want the criminals to escape, even though I know they only really show their few and far between successes.

Cringing and embarrassing. Okay there is the odd rare decent chase in between police talking to 'criminals' who's tax might have expired. As for the punishment given out, if any, is nothing short of pathetic and probably encourages people to break these little laws as you will most likely get away with it! Is there really no real crime happening in Essex that can be used for television?
  • To think that taxpayers money is funding the police to be filmed chasing members of the public for the sake of entertainment is appalling. It also glorifies the behaviour of the perpetrators by giving them publicity. Awful.
  • Nevermind direct BMW advertisements ,... I'm a Criminal take me out of This ! ... Seriously ! It a shameless direct insult to law obedient citizens Who's whatching after long commercialized Road-chase which has terrorized the whole town , criminals treated like celebrities ridiculous soft court sentences & walkaway on taxpayers paid 6 months max vacations w All that Grand theft auto charges after destroyed police cars during the chase , terrorizing neighborhoods , drug trafficking , ... WHO EXACTLY THIS SHOW IS MADE FOR ? the Criminals FANs?! what's the moral on making , producing , sponsoring & Watching this show for the Victims for struggling law obedient people in general who wish to ever lived in UK ?... Crime pays in there w "stupid" hardworking taxpayers money , plus I want a free bimmer 2 let's shop for cars in GTA style ...
  • Channel 5 have no sense of identity.

They claim to have pulled the money from 'Neighbours' to make way for high quality British drama, and then in the next breath pour seemingly endless amounts of money into drivel like this.

Hey, at least it's not set in Yorkshire like all their other rubbish.

This show used to be pretty good but the latest season is dire. Where's the car chases, and we don't need the 'upbeat' music. Watch traffic cops, much better.

    Warning: Spoilers
I've just watched an episode of this programme (S22 Ep 7) and no one was convicted of any crimes. Even though there were criminals walking around with 12 inch knifes. He also had a house full of class A drugs. An idiot on motorbike with no crash helmet who also had no tax or insurance. A car crashing into another car at over 100mph on the wrong side of the road. And finally stolen meat from a supermarket is found in the back of a car stopped by the Police. Both the driver of the car, and his passenger were caught on CCTV but yet still couldn't be convicted. What has happened to this countries justice system.
