With the 2024-2025 TV season almost over, there are many cancellation and renewal decisions coming. Fox still has a lot of shows on the line, but there have been some good decisions so far. While not many Fox shows have been renewed yet, we get to look forward to some.

On top of that, there are a few shows that we just know are likely to be renewed. We’ll take a look at them in this post. Just keep in mind that this is only about scripted shows, including animated comedy. The unscripted shows are a different beast.

All the renewed Fox shows so far

As of April 2025, there are only four renewed shows on Fox so far. The one that you may have overlooked is Krapopolis, which was renewed for a third season back in March 2023, ahead of the series even landing on our screens ever! On top of that,...

Fox veterans The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers have never really been on the bubble because first, they remain strong performers for the network, and secondly, due to the longer lead time needed in animation, they would always get an early renewal. That was taken to a new level this year as all three, along with American Dad!, returning to Fox after an 11-year run on TBS, have just been given four-year pickups, keeping the 20th TV Animation-produced comedies off the bubble list for the foreseeable future.

A major Fox show is returning to the network and in multiple seasons! This is surprising news.

Fox’s “Animation Domination” has been a key part of their lineup for decades. It began with The Simpsons, which set the tone for every adult animation show since 1990. That included the long-running Family Guy, which began in 1999.

Fans are used to these shows being renewed on a season-by-season basis. But per TVLine, Fox is making a stunning move as it not only brings back the animated show American Dad! but it, along with The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy, are all renewed for a whopping four seasons each!

American Dad! renewed for multiple seasons

Each season of American Dad! will comprise of 15 episodes. For those counting, this deal will take The Simpsons through to season 40, Bob’s Burgers through to season 19, Family Guy through to season 27, and American Dad! through to season...

Fox is reuniting its Animation Domination lineup and locking them down for years to come. The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob's Burgers have all been given huge, if not particularly surprising, four-season renewals at the network while also being joined by a former staple of the Sunday night block, American Dad, following the end of its run at TBS. It has also been ordered for four more seasons. With an unprecedented 16 total seasons ordered at once from Fox, the network has ensured plenty of consistency for broadcast animation fans, keeping the shows together through the 2029 season.

Such a sizable renewal has assured some history for the 20th Television Animation-produced shows. The Simpsons is now guaranteed to reach its landmark 40th season, attaining heights that few shows have ever even approached and padding the yellow-skinned family's lead as the longest-running animated comedy in history. Fox is keeping its animation lineup intact for four more years. The network has handed out massive four-season renewals to long-running animated series The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad.

Per Variety, the renewals will take Bob’s Burgers to Season 19, Family Guy to Season 27, American Dad to Season 23, and The Simpsons to a record-setting Season 40. "This historic four-season order from our longtime partners at Fox is truly monumental for these iconic animated series,” said 20th Television Animation head Marci Proietto in a statement. "We are so proud that these legendary shows will continue for hundreds of more episodes, allowing new and longstanding fans to watch, rewatch and experience more of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, and Bob’s Burgers for years to come."

American Dad Returns to Fox After 11 Years

The renewal announcement also confirms a late March report stating that American Dad would be returning to Fox for its next season.

Fox is locking in its animated cornerstones for the remainder of the 2020s.

In a huge commitment to longer-running shows The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers, the network has ordered four more seasons of each show. Additionally, Fox officially announced that American Dad! will return to the network in 2025-26, also with a four-season order.

The renewals will take all four series through the 2028-29 season. The Simpsons will extend its already ludicrous run through its 40th season and, depending on the episode count for the coming seasons, will likely approach 900 episodes by the end of the order. Family Guy will run through its 27th season and Bob’s Burgers through its 19th. The order for American Dad! will encompass seasons 20 through 23, by Fox’s count.

All four shows come from 20th Television Animation.

Linear reruns of “American Dad!” will continue to air on TBS and fellow Warner Bros. Discovery networks Adult Swim and TruTV until at least 2030.
