The desert setting is entirely lacking
A number of incidents in this film weaken its story considerably, the desert setting being entirely lacking. The death of the villain was hardly convincing, and though the photography is adequate, the production as a whole, does not compare with former successes by this company. - The Moving Picture World, July 5, 1913
