Moving story, great production values, wonderful short!
Fresh from the 4th Annual NBC Universal Short Cuts Film Fetsival in New York City, writer/director Sebastian Davis presents the story of an underdog taking a shot at a nice girl that shouldn't be missed.
Its enticing photography (Jay Visit) and the colorful production values make this short stand out in a very Wes Anderson-like way.
Shot in Atlanta's industrial lands (the city only recognizable because of a Georgia State Capitol cameo), the story evolves through the eyes of Magellan (Christopher Hobgood) -part loser part Max Fischer- a nerdy 7th grader who likes to use a bow tie to class <<"I take school seriously.">>, whom has recently fallen in love with Tiana (Destiny West), a girl who might not be as superficial as the rest of his classmates.
Hobgood makes the role his own. Watch out for him in the future.
Magellan, what a nice little gem.
