An HD and enhanced remaster of Dragon Ball Z.
The series is edited to follow Akira Toriyama's manga more closely than the previous adaptation of the latter half of his manga (Dragon Ball Z.) In other words, the good majority of filler segments are being removed. Because of this, the series is slated to run 100 episodes, as opposed to Z's 291.
In the version of the show done after the music copyright infringement scandal, Piccolo's Theme is played in scenes where Piccolo is not even present.
New commercial bumpers/eyecatchers were animated for this incarnation of the series as well.
Originally, the background music was composed by Kenji Yamamoto. However, on March 9, 2011, following the airing of episode 95, Yamamoto was fired by Toei for accusations of plagiarism in his music. In subsequent reruns of the first 95 episodes, his score was replaced with Shunsuke Kikuchi's from "Dragon Ball Z", and the last three episodes of the Cell Arc, which were supposed to have the Yamamoto BGM, were replaced at the last minute with the Kikuchi score before they could have aired.
