Nandri Meendum Varuga

This eccentric role suits Pratap Pothen to the T . He never fit in any normal hero role . Suhasini is a do gooder of the entire village who dotes on her . She is very simple without much make up and has domestic looks . She is getting engaged to Pratap and they are already in love . Pratap is from a rich family who lives in colourful glaring huge palatial house with red carpets adorning the broad stairs to show his status . He dies in an accident one sad day and Suhasini goes into depression . Her brother and his family go from doctor to doctor to find her cure . Finally a doctor in Chennai ( Suhasini is based in Mysore ) notices that the dead Pratap's face resembles a popular actor ( Pratap again ) . They take her to Pratap's house and plead with him to help her by impersonating the dead Pratap. Eccentric ( because of his sad childhood ) , abusive, dominating , rude Pratap initially refuses but later gives in . Suasini comes out of her depression but starts thinking of him as her original Pratap because of this he has to extending his act for some more time . Meanwhile he gets drawn into this affectionate family . We get to see many contemporary actors like Jayamalini ( for a change she is not a skinny slim dancer like today , she is genially pretty and fair ) , Aruna , Jaychitra etc as co actors of Pratap . A fine story . Pratap is the back bone of this story as some one insensitive involved only in himself . You feel sorry for him some times due to his battle with himself . Suhasini is soft spoken through out .
