Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: Far From Home), Georgia King (Vice Principals) and John Stamos (Fuller House) have signed to recur opposite Ep/co-writer Darren Criss and Kether Donohue in Quibi’s Royalties.
Production is underway in Los Angeles on Royalties, a satirical take on the oft-untold story of songwriters behind the world’s biggest hits. It follows the ascent of a ragtag songwriting duo – Sara (Donohue) and Pierce (Criss) – as they navigate the strange and hilarious challenges of creating a truly great song, week after week.
Each episode will feature real-life entertainment personalities portraying fictitious (and ridiculous) music stars, along with original songs penned by Criss.
No details were provided about the roles for Revolori, King or Stamos.
Criss is co-writing and executive-producing the series with longtime collaborators Nick and Matt Lang, fellow co-founders of YouTube’s Team Starkid. Berman, Hend Baghdady, Joe Earley and Ricky Rollins also executive produce.

Stars: Edie Falco, Jay Duplass, Kaitlyn Dever, Ben Schwartz, Charles Leggett, Jay Duplass | Written by Lynn Shelton, Jay Duplass | Directed by Lynn Shelton
Lynn Shelton is a director I’ve been a fan of for a while. I’m a fan of her 2011 film, Your Sister’s Sister. I like her 2014 film, Say When (aka Laggies) and she’s directed episodes of some of my favourite shows, such as Glow and New Girl. I have no earthly idea why it’s taken me so long to see this, her 2017 indie-drama, Outside In. There’s a tone to Shelton’s films, and along with co-writer, Jay Duplass, who I’m also very fond of as a director and writer (Table 19), they’ve created a down-to-earth movie that has that realistic and subtle energy going on, a feel that I’ve always been attracted to.

Tony Revolori is best known for his role as Zero Moustafa in Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel and since then he has been in numerous films including Dope, The 5th Wave and Table 19. He became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2017 when he stepped into the role of Flash Thompson, Peter Parker’s rival, in Spider-Man: Homecoming and he reprises the character in Spider-Man: Far From Home (which opens in theaters today).
As a real-life comic book fan (he is definitely not a bandwagoner), Revolori knows the ins and outs of Spider-Man lore. That said, he knows that Flash is traditionally portrayed by a white, broad-shouldered type that is cut from the same high school bully cloth as nearly every character Will Zabka played in the ’80s. Revolori, who is of Guatemalan heritage, is aware he doesn’t fit that traditional Flash mold. (Fyi: He originally tried...

Los Angeles – Saban Films announced today that they have acquired North American rights to Richard Bates Jr.’s horror thriller Tone-Deaf. The film stars Robert Patrick and Amanda Crew, and is produced by Circle of Confusion’s Lawrence Mattis, Brad Mendelsohn and Matt Smith, and Best Medicine Productions’ Brion Hambel and Paul Jensen. Tone-Deaf will make its World Premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival.
Tone-Deaf follows millennial Olive (Crew) who, after losing her job and imploding her latest dysfunctional relationship, leaves the city for a weekend of peace in the country, only to discover the shockingly dark underbelly of rural America. She rents an eccentric, ornate country house from Harvey (Patrick), an old-fashioned widower who's struggling to hide his psychopathic tendencies.

There are other characters in Victor Levin’s “Destination Wedding” beyond Frank (Keanu Reeves) and Lindsay (Winona Ryder), but none of them matter or get a moment of screen time beyond filling space in a wide shot. Not the dim bride, or the thoughtless groom, or the cold mother-in-law; the only people who matter are Frank and Lindsay, and so it’s only fitting that when “Destination Wedding” opens, it comes with an amusing subtitle: “A Narcissist Can’t Die Because Then the Entire World Would End.” And, yes, this is a romantic comedy.
Levin’s film, his first since the 2014 Anton Yelchin romantic drama “5 to 7,” will feel familiar to rom-com fans, though the filmmaker lets Reeves and Ryder rip into characters who would be pushed to the side in fluffier films. Most of all, “Destination Wedding” makes the case that the two-hander isn’t dead, even if...

The “Pitch Perfect” franchise has made a killing at the box office thanks to its clever song mashups and female-charged ensemble, but that hasn’t stopped “people at the top” of Universal Pictures from giving some controversial notes.
Anna Kendrick recently told Harper’s Bazaar that the cast was requested to wear “tighter” costumes and show more skin, despite the fact that the franchise has largely succeeded with fans and audiences by not over-sexualizing its female characters.

It hasn’t been easy for Fox Searchlight Pictures over the last several years. The studio’s reputation has struggled in the wake of box office disappointments like “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” “Demolition,” “Table 19,” and this year’s “Patti Cake$,” plus increased competition from growing rivals like Netflix, Amazon, and A24. What was once a studio destined to be an Oscar power player has now become just another indie distributor fighting to get its movies seen. We’re a long way from the back-to-back Best Picture success of “12 Years a Slave” and “Birdman,” plus Oscar favorites like “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Slumdog Millionaire,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” and “The Descendants.”

Three of the announced series in development are anthology-oriented, while nearly all feature some level of genre element. This includes the B-movie homage “Shock Theatre” as well as “Wicked West,” Blumhouse’s non-fiction take on “the most frightening and disturbing tales from the Wild West.”
There are also two high-concept premises mentioned: “Liking What You See” depicts a world where people voluntarily choose to surrender their ability to appreciate beauty, while “The Age of Miracles” is a drama about what happens to one woman’s family after the world learns that the earth’s rotation is slowing down.

Folks, is the year moving a bit quickly or is it just me? Maybe it’s me? I can deal with that. Anyway, on to the point of this whole thing. With it now being just about the month of May, we’ve officially finished up with the first third of the calendar. As such, I wanted to once again highlight the best of the year so far, consisting of my top ten and various awards for 2017 to date. Much like last time around, when I did the first quarter of the year at the start of April, I’m mostly limiting it to things that have already hit theaters. My only exception is that I’m including eligible titles from the recently concluded Tribeca Film Festival. There are some others from the year that I’m fond of and might have otherwise included, but I didn’t want to cheat too badly,...

Contrary to conventional wisdom, lower-budget films aren’t always easier to make.
That lesson was one of the key take-aways from the Women, Money and Movies panel on Monday night at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood.
“Women like to get it done for less,” said panelist Jennifer Dana, president of 3311 Productions (Table 19, Brigsby Bear). “The biggest mistake with smaller movies is not giving yourself enough resources to do it properly.”
She advised the predominantly female audience, comprised mainly of independent producers and directors, to seek financing for 10 percent more than their estimated budget: “You’ll get half,...

Here's our look at wedding reception comedy-drama Table 19, starring Anna Kendrick, Craig Robinson and Lisa Kudrow...
Back in the early days of my online film geekdom, I used to take part in a fantasy film league, inspired by fantasy sports leagues. You take the role of a producer and using your budget for the season, you choose six stars to be in your made-up film. The box office returns of that film are then determined by the real life box office successes of those stars throughout the season.
See related Game Of Thrones season 6: new deleted scene released Game Of Thrones: HBO ruling out spin-offs, for now Game Of Thrones season 6: breaking down Blood Of My Blood's vision Game Of Thrones season 6: 9 questions about The Door
Table 19 could have been cast in much the same way as you'd cast one of those fantasy films.

On paper, Table 19 looks like a sure bet for an hour and a half of harmless mischief and silly shenanigans. A group of strangers find themselves at the same wedding reception and must make the best of their night despite being made to sit at the “losers table”. What’s not to like, right? In reality, this unimaginatively lame and thoroughly amateurish production brings absolutely nothing new, or even old to the romantic comedy genre, and winds up looking cheap, messy and almost instantly forgettable.
At the last minute Eloise (Anna Kendrick) decides to attend the wedding of her oldest friend who also happens to be the sister of Teddy (Wyatt Russell), the man who broke up with her two months earlier. Things get complicated when she finds herself sat at the worst table in the room alongside a group of unwanted guests who should have...

Anna Kendrick has packed plenty into her 10-year Hollywood career, going from supporting actress to leading lady in an impressively short time. She arguably hit her (to date) high point rather too soon – her excellent supporting work in the matchless Up in the Air garnering her richly deserved Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination – but it would be a huge simplification and over-statement to claim it has been downhill ever since.
The imperious Up In The Air was by no means Kendrick’s first role but it is the very definition of a break-out role, marking her out as a talent to watch. She demonstrated versatility, strength, vulnerability, intelligence, nuance and comedy chops, holding her own opposite Clooney despite her relatively tender years. Either side of Up In The Air, Kendrick popped up throughout the Twilight saga, was relatively unremarkable in films like 50/50 and What To Expect When...

Much like I seem to find myself saying around this point each and every single year…time really flies. Believe it or not, we’re now a full three months into the 2017 movie calendar, which means we’re literally a quarter of the way through the film slate for the year. Wow. That got me thinking about what the best of the bunch so far this year has been. Since now is the time when the film slate begins to transition into summer releases and counter programming independent fare ramps up, I thought it was the perfect time to praise the best of 2017 so far. Basically, anything that hit screens between January 1st and March 31st will be up for grabs here for my personal honors. Once again, here goes nothing! So far, 2017 has been on the weaker side of things, at least in my humble opinion. There’s been a few legitimately great films,...

Liam Neeson and Anna Kendrick recently auditioned for the voice role of a lifetime: Stephen Hawking. The pair are just two celebrities from a larger group that took part in a hilarious Comic Relief video in which they lobby the world renowned scientist who suffers from Als to pick them as the person to replace the computerized voice he’s used for more than 30 years.

Almost flying under the radar with an April 7th release is Anna Kendrick’s romantic comedy, Table 19 and with it comes the new trailer, a selection of stills and posters to give you an insight of what a real loser in love looks like.
Related: Anna Kendrick news and interviews
As romantic comedies go, Table 19 doesn’t exactly stand out, but there will be an audience out there who will love it. The trailer focuses on Kendrick attending a friend’s wedding who just happens to be marrying the brother of her ex-boyfriend who unceremoniously dumped her via a text message. Stuck at the table at the back, full of fellow losers who no one cares about, friendships flourish as the bitter and twisted guests reveal themselves. Predictably could love also flourish for our protagonist? We can safely bet it does.

Overlord, a World War II drama tinged with supernatural elements, has drafted in Wyatt Russell (Black Mirror) and Fences breakout Jovan Adepo to headline.
Word comes by way of Deadline, confirming that Overlord is in the works over at Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot – cue the Cloverfield speculation – with Julius Avery attached at the helm. It’s drafted in some serious writing talent, too, what with Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) and Mark Smith (The Revenant) on board to hash out a script. Production is due to commence in the UK this May, indicating that both Paramount and Bad Robot are poised to place Overlord on the fast-track ahead of a theatrical release sometime in 2018.

The rare specialty sequel led the weekend with Danny Boyle’s “T2 Trainspotting,” 21 years after the original’s breakout success. The TriStar release had the best initial numbers since the late-year awards contenders, but other debuts showed results that seemed underwhelming next to their pedigree.
This time last year, we saw the release of crossover successes “Eye in the Sky” and “Hello, My Name Is Doris,” but 2017 lacks the same heft. Last week’s breakout, “A Very Sordid Wedding” (The Film Collective) continued at its sole Palm Springs location but didn’t report results, suggesting the $40,000 start had a strong component of premiere hoopla and higher event pricing.

Anna Kendrick has a secret set of very specific skills.
Craig Robinson is spilling the beans about the actress in an interview with People Now alongside Table 19 costars Lisa Kudrow and Wyatt Russell. The comedian reveals that Kendrick uses her smaller-than-average size to her advantage when getting around in crowded spaces.
Robinson says that the two were once at a bar that “was super packed. But she’s tiny so she would use her tininess to maneuver around,” adding that he was impressed when he would see her run around the crowded bar.

While “Moonlight” continues to be the microbudget-film-that-could following its big Oscar victory, it was a weak post-Oscar weekend for new indie releases at the box office. The top newcomer, Fox Searchlight’s “Table 19,” only had modest success with $1,575,000 from 868 screens, for an average of $1,815 per screen. Directed by Jeffrey Blitz, who co-wrote with Jay and Mark Duplass, “Table 19” stars Anna Kendrick as a reluctantly invited wedding guest who is asked to sit at a table with other people whom the happy couple had hoped would have no-showed. Craig Robinson, June Squibb, Lisa Kudrow, Tony Revolori, and Stephen Merchant.

The lagging 2017 box office got a big boost as “Logan” (20th Century Fox), starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine — the first of three anticipated March juggernauts — opened like a summer franchise blockbuster. The offshoot from the “Wolverine” subset of X-Men movies marks the first R-rating for the storied franchise.
Even better, it wasn’t the only upbeat news this post-Oscars weekend. Hitchcockian thriller “Get Out” (Universal), the Blumhouse sleeper from Jordan Peele, dropped only 22 per cent on its second weekend, which is stunning.
And Lionsgate, fresh off eight wins from “La La Land” and “Hacksaw Ridge” on Oscar night, returned with the surprisingly strong faith-based “The Shack,” starring “Hidden Figures” Oscar-nominee and Saturday Night Live host Octavia Spencer.
The post-Oscar results were mixed to positive, as two of the top category winners are already available for home viewing. “Moonlight” (streaming and available on DVD/Blu-Ray) had both the widest break...

The week after the Oscars, most of the contenders are moving on to home viewing. It was a terrific season, but the market needs strong new entries to stem the box-office slide.
Neither of this week’s two most prominent releases — “Table 19” with a national Fox Searchlight break and “The Last Word” (Bleecker Street) — will bolster box office. It also doesn’t help that two highly-touted and well-reviewed wide release studio films, Fox’s “Logan” and Universal’s “Get Out,” are competing for many of the same viewers.
A series of smaller niche audience releases remain. And four this weekend are either Israeli or aimed at audiences interested in Jewish topics. Led by “Women in the Balcony” (Menemsha) they could see further life over the next several weeks.

Chicago – “Table 19” is an example of a movie that doesn’t try to do too much. It simply takes its little idea and lets it play out, without the forced subplots and desperate stabs of fake urgency so many studio comedies resort to – it’s one part aimless hang out comedy, one part rom-com.
It is an amusing-if-forgettable 87 minutes with a group of funny people who get more laughs than they probably should have from such thin material.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
“Table 19” centers on a wedding reception in Michigan. Some of the guests at this reception are seated at that number 19 table, which is next to the bathroom, as far away from the wedding party as you possibly can get, and are the ones with only the most distant of connections to the bride and groom. As the movie itself puts it, this is the table for the people who...

In Adam Sandler’s 1998 comedy The Wedding Singer, the actor’s emotionally distraught Robbie Hart discovers a selection of mismatched outsiders he deems “the mutants over at table 9.” Imagine an entire film centering on the wedding attendees that have all been relegated to just such a position at a wedding reception, and you have a solid idea of what Table 19 at first appears to be shooting for. Yet, while the film clearly purports itself to be an alternative take on the concept of a wedding comedy, it cannot resist the temptation to embrace cliché before the credits roll.

The concept behind Table 19 is compelling enough — what happens over the course of a wedding reception at the guest table that’s made up of social pariahs and “didn’t think they’d actually say ‘yes’” attendees? Table 19 takes us into a world of outsiders, and if the outcasts aren’t the most interesting people at a wedding, then I don’t know who is. Yes, I’m being serious.
Ex-maid of honor Eloise (Anna Kendrick) is Table 19’s lead, both in the film and at the table. Having previously dated the bride’s brother, Teddy (Wyatt Russell), she’s intimately acquainted with the seating arrangements of the wedding and lets the rest of the table know almost immediately that they are the “randoms” of the night — or, as the bride’s mother so aptly puts it, “the table that should have known to send ‘regrets’ but...

At the beginning of Table 19, we see Anna Kendrick struggling to decide whether to RSVP yes or no to a wedding invitation. She should have said no, and that might be the best advice for audiences thinking about seeing this film.
Kendrick plays Eloise, the ex-maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding, dropped after the best man, also the bride’s brother, suddenly broken up with her by text.
The invitation is to the wedding, and she torn between going to her best friend’s wedding or avoiding the heartbreak of seeing her ex with his new girlfriend.

Table 19 is a solid sketch comedy concept - a quirky table of oddball, mismatched wedding guests at the bottom of the acquaintance food chain - a trifle built to go down easy with even a modest amount of charm applied. Add in a winning cast (Anna Kendrick, Lisa Kudrow, Craig Robinson, June Squibb, Tony Revolori, and Stephen Merchant) and this should be a recipe for some simple pleasures at the very least.
Forget for a moment that the film goes to great lengths to prove to us that this ensemble amounts to anything less than the Cool Table. You’re trying to tell me I wouldn’t leap at the opportunity to get weird with Kudrow and Squibb at a tacky wedding? Hmmmmm.
