The Pajanimals is a series produced by the Jim Henson Company that centres on four animals as they get ready for bedtime.
So, in every episode, one of the Pajanimals - Apollo the Dog, Squacky the Duck, Cowbella the Cow, and Sweetpea Sue the Rhino, has a problem they are having, so they venture off into the outside and meet up with one of the many guest characters.
Now, for verdicts:
Characters and Puppetry: The characters don't have much personality as they represent the average pre-schooler, but they are likeable and know what to do when they have bedtime troubles. The puppetry is spot-on as well, which definitely shows that despite the introduction of digital puppetry (as seen in shows like Dinosaur Train) The Jim Henson Company can still put out a good string and hand series.
Voice Acting: This is one thing that the series isn't great at. The voice actors (who also puppet the main characters) don't fit well voicing the Pajanimals. They are meant to be young children, and they sound more like teenagers or young adults. The singing isn't great either. However... there is a UK redub of the show, where the characters were voiced by actual children, and it sounds far more fitting. I know even UK fans hate this dub, but I am more used to this one and that's what I have to say about it.
Music: One of the main focuses of the series is how the music mixes in the calm nature of the series with some funky tunes composed by Disney/Henson veterans Silversher & Silversher (Michael & Patty Silversher). Every episode features one song from one of the supporting characters, and it all ends with the unseen mother singing the fitting calm "La-La-Lullaby".
Overall: This is a pretty good show for going to sleep to, and a recommendation to those who like other shows from The Jim Henson Company.
