I think this show has promise, and even though I like the idea of the Agent in Charge Jane Tennant being the lead agent, she is so stilted I feel as though she is being led by a puppeteer (i'm being polite).
The rest of the cast are excellent and are at this stage carrying the show, where she is letting it down I miss Hawaii Five 0 but understand injury was the end of that series.. I love the current version of Magnum.
This series of NCIS Hawaii seems to be a mix of both with a lot lacking (I'm still watching it as I love the NCIS family)

The storyline of the relationship between Lucy and Kate is so cringeworthy. They have ZERO chemistry. I fast forward through their scenes. I almost stopped watching because I'm so insulted by this very dumb storyline. STOP it! No one cares about them!!
I have browsed through the reviews here and can't believe the show's rating gets dragged down for the most unrelated reasons. Don't rate a show after only 1 episode.
This show is not the reason New Orleans got canceled and shouldn't be compared to Hawaii 5O. The show feels like maybe season 2 of the original NCIS in it's pacing. Having 5 main characters feels more realistic than just the three we were used to. People complaining about how pretty the cast is, i mean NCIS LA has handsome folks too. The show has actually a good balance between focusing on the characters and focusing on the case of the week. I prefer less personal drama in my procedurals but still need characters that feel three dimensional. I like that you can tell a case isn't solved in two days and that there is actually investigating involved. I know the review will get down voted for mentioning it but I really appreciate the diversity represented.

This hurts to write, but this needs help. It feels more CSI then NCIS. I was hopeful for it, as I've seen EVERY episode of NCIS, NCIS:LA and NCIS: NOLA, but too many unknown actors and actresses and Vanessa isn't well known enough or believable enough to carry this show.
I loved Hawaii 5-0 and Magnum PI is great, but this needs some of those characters and some of the 3 originals to guest star to help bring this back from wherever it's heading.
Please consider major changes before this fails and brings down the amazing NCIS Series.

I love, love LOVE this show. The chemistry between the cast is so awesome. You can tell they like and respect each other behind the camera, and it reflects on camera in solid team bond - no matter how they pair off for work, I always enjoy it and there's always a good story between them. Having a main cast of all people of color is just so awesome, esp since they're also all so talented. I always liked Tennant, but she snuck up on me with how much I love her, b/c she is such a subtle character - quietly strong, quietly funny, it took a couple of eps but I just ADORE HER, especially since I have never liked the renegade, off the books my way or the highway team lead NCIS seems to be fond of, so I love Jane Tennant. I love how family oriented Jesse is, but also the sneak peeks into his past as a DC cop and how it might give him some hangups. LUCY IS MY FAV - she's so beautiful and funny and I love watching her (not to mention I love her relationship w Kate). Seeing prickly Kai grow into accepting love and family again is being done so well and it's just a joy. And Ernie! I love the way he is un-apologetically himself and the team treats him with absolute respect. It's very obvious they know exactly who this characters are before they stepped on camera for the first time, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes! This is definitely my new comfort show :)

Sorry, But I Truly Enjoyed NCIS LA More than NCIS Hawaii. All of the Actors were Significantly
Better, All of their Characters were More Interesting, and All their Story Lines were Superior, and Much More Entertaining.
I'm Sure that the Producers Felt that the Combination of the Hawaiian Location, the Minority Female Lead, and the Inclusion of a Lesbian Female Romance would be a Winner.
But Unfortunately, that just hasn't been the Case.
All of the Characters on NCIS LA seemed so Real, and they worked so well together. It was almost like watching a Family at work. I Even thought that.the Replacement of Linda Hunt with Gerald McRaney was an Improvement, and I Truly Found the Kensi and Marty Romance to be Far More Interesting and Entertaining than the Lesbian Female Lovers.
Sorry CBS but You Sadly Canceled the Wrong NCIS Series. Just like You Did when You Canceled Magnum..... Because the New Revamped Series, on a Competitive Network, is Far Superior to the Original Series that You Decided to Cancel. The Fans Love it that Magnum and Higgins are Now a Couple!
Interesting, How a Simple Change can have such a Dramatic Effect on a Television Series's Popularity.
Perhaps, Another Network can Repeat this Accomplishment by Picking Up a 14 Year Network Hit that You Found Unworthy of Renewing. At Least We Can Hope Some Network will Try!!!

I really love this show. I always looked forward to coming home from my dorm to watch new episodes at my parents' house or sitting down when I was done with my French class on Tuesdays so I could watch the newest episode. I re-watch the older seasons all the time and I still will after the series finale. The characters and their relationships are enjoyable, the acting is amazing, and the stories are engaging. It's not realistic, yes, but that's part of the appeal for me. If I wanted a realistic show about law enforcement I'd watch a documentary. Honestly, I used to watch a lot of crime documentaries, and that can get depressing. For me, this show's been a nice escape from my studies and the general stress of life. Thank you so much to all the people involved in this show. I'll miss it, and I still hope it'll get renewed soon enough.
This one just does not cut the grade. The writing, may have worked it's way up if they actually had the right characters for the team. Though they took the step to put a female in the role of the agent in charge, they chose the wrong person to portray it and the writing downplays any intelligence the character might have.
It seems as though the writers and the network was trying to doll the show up a little. In doing so, they totally caused what could have been a great show to become a big flop.
They have to turn this show around. Replace some of the lead actors, and rewrite it's content in order to survive.

The show does not portray the Hawaiian culture accurately but assumes the way Hawaiians would talk and act.
Now for the show, first of all what is a Merit medal?? The Dept of the Navy of does not have merit medals. There are 3 medals within the DON, Superior Civilian Service; Distinguished Civilian Service and Meritorious Civilian Service.
Since when does the Defense Intelligence Agency investigate espionage? Would def be the FBI working jointly with NCIS. Really???
NTSB at a crash site?? That would be the Navy Safety Center.
Why didn't the writers/producers hire someone who is familiar with NCIS, the Navy and the Hawaiian Islands??
Will not be tuning in for Episode 2!!

This show isn't as bad as people make it out to be. After completing the whole season today, I feel pretty satisfied as a viewer. Although Kate had a few flaws as a character on an NCIS show, she was developed perfectly after the initial episodes. Lucy & Kate are really sweet together. Characters like Jesse & Kai kept me invested in the story. The whole vibe is different and settling. Anyways, I've given 10 stars to try and pull up the ratings a little bit because 6.1 is really not what a show like this deserves. This was a solid 7.5. Waiting on Season 2 and hoping for some improved character handling. The plots throughout episodes were fine though, Keep up the good work! 💖

The pilot was pretty dissaspointing, all of the characters felt like poorly written, generic stereotypes. The shooting style and color grading was also almost unwatchable and ugly. A few scenes were obviously shot in front of a green screen and were super oversaturated. NCIS: New Orleans was far from perfect, but replacing it with this is insane.
WEll I was looking forward to this until this show looked like Dec 8th 1941. If you don't understand the reference it was a total BOMB. Poor storyline, really bad acting, looks more like a bunch of teenage wannabe Nancy Drew's and Hardy boys. The Bowery Boy would have been much better than this.

Hey, I know folks don't like this show. However, I truly like it!! I love Tennant's character and leadership.
The writers needed to tighten up the banter but otherwise, the show is culturally eye opening and good!

Could be a hit with another lead. Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant makes a weak impression. Traditionally Ncis has chosen a strong lead actor/actress, making the series interesting, this time they failed. The rest of the team is great and with the right lead the series has potential.

B grade acting with crappy story lines. Disappointing for this franchise. Try to have small one liner jokes, but fall short. Needed a stronger cast. Find the whole show very tiring and boring to watch.

This series does not appear to have it's footing yet. Not enough of that beautiful Hawaiian scenery is in the episodes and the music score is not very good. This could be a really good series, if they put a little more money and time into it. Hopefully the second season will be much improved!

I'm only at episode 4 - but I see potential. The characters are gelling together although I think some are weak and why the "sexual tension" issues between co-workers... so old school and professionalism should just prevail. Vanessa is finally realizing drama is different than being a MC. I miss Hawaii 5-0 and this is a good substitute.

The best spinoff was LA. New Orleans was okay. Hawaii is not bad. Those slamming Vanessa, she is way better than the Sydney lead or cast. Renewing Sydney over Hawaii was a mistake. Hawaii has chemistry among the cast. Not a fan of Lucy, but she isn't awful like some in the newest spinoff.
Some of the storylines were good. Overall the show is good. The characters play off each other well. They blend well with the cast members from NCIS and NCIS LA. It's ratings were decent.
Maybe its time to keep just the orginal and give beginnings a try. Bad decision CBS to cancel it CBS. Hate to see this one go like I did NCIS LA.

Lead actress is good , nothing bad there ...at all
Scenery is awesome , same like 5-0, Magnum ...
new blood ..we are all use to watch Danny Chin ho , McGarret etc , but they are all gone , there is new sheriff in town...don't watch if you don't like it ..
We in Europe like to watch nice "new" shows even if we get to watch them over shady websites like solarmovie.. but anyway ..10* from me..

NCIS Hawaii hasn't been that great to begin with but I've given it the benefit. I've learned to like the characters as is. Storylines are pretty much the same as any other show but the location is incredible. Love Hawaii. I do prefer Magnum and 5-0 but this show gives me my Hawaii fix. With that said the Worst thing they've done, recently, is adding the "secret squirrel" crap with Sam Hanna. Since when did he become a secret agent? He doesn't fit the group and I find him annoying. When LA was cancelled he should've gone with it. LA was good and Sam fit the group well but, sorry, his EXTRA story lines suck.
I really wished this would be a nice new NCIS show, since i wasn't the biggest fan of NCIS - New Orleans and expected something that was at least better than that.
But Boy , oh Boy .. was i wrong... I don't even really know where to start, there is simply nothing positive to say about this show, the cast is a diverse mix of horrible stereotypes and cliches , the acting horrible, the story so far a mix between drama and comedy and authenticity is completely absent. I don't expect a show to get everything right when it comes to military information , uniforms, ribbons , medals, agency interactions... but to get absolutely nothing right is beyond lazy and sad.
My advice would be watch episode 1 .. Judge for yourself and then do the same as i will , watch something else and never give this a second thought.
The NCIS name and the JAG franchise deserved better than this !

This show is unwatchable. There is no one who can actually carry the show. No likeable character. Lousy story. If this is the best they can come up with, play Taps for the NCIS franchise. This makes me long for New Orleans. This is nothing more than a commercial for tourism in Hawaii.
