While the Max rebrand back to HBO Max has the streaming world in a tizzy, it’s worth remembering the significance of keeping diverse subscriptions. While “Hacks” and “The Last of Us” wrap up over on that side of your library, the Hulu and Disney bundle is essential for maximizing this summer’s offerings.
Disney+ continues to be the go-to streamer for family friendly viewing options; this month, they’ll add the official “Frozen” Broadway musical to that library, along with Marvel’s “Ironheart,” about Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) who was introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”
Hulu has everything you need for an “Alien” movie marathon, all to gear up for FX’s “Alien: Earth” which premieres in August. You could also do a “Mamma Mia!” marathon or “Bachelor” binge — we’re not here to judge.
Top Pick: “The Bear” Season 4 (Available on Hulu)

Exclusive: Former Anton exec John Zois (The Night House) and current north.five.six. CEO Warren Goz (The Marksman) have launched Parallel 42 Entertainment, an LA-based film and TV development and production company that will focus on commercially driven projects across the action, thriller, sci-fi, and horror genres.
Zois, who spent the last six years helping build UK-based financier and production company Anton, will oversee the creative and operational aspects of the new indie. Parallel 42’s film slate will include mix of features and series—ranging from low-budget horror to large-scale commercial action—developed for studios, streamers, independent partners and cable.
As CEO, Goz will bring his background in production, financing, and sales to help guide and support the company’s projects.
The company is currently developing projects with filmmakers including Brad Anderson, the Dowdle Brothers Michaël R. Roskam, Nimród Antal, Jason Winer (Brother From Another Mother), and Rob Lorenz (In The Land of Saints & Sinners).
The firm will look to work with a range of sales partners on its projects but will also likely have a strong connection to north.five.six. given Goz’s ongoing role there.
Zois, who also has worked at Global Road and Im Global, most recently produced the upcoming sequel Greenland: Migration, starring Gerard Butler and set for release by Lionsgate later this year; and the upcoming Amazon UK original series The Girlfriend, starring Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke.
Goz, with north.five.six., has recently worked on movies By Any Means starring Mark Wahlberg, Regretting You, the adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel starring Dave Franco and acquired by Paramount, and Bartali, starring Miles Teller. Previously, he served as CEO of Sculptor Media, where he produced and developed various features including the 2023 Cannes entry Asphalt City.
“I am thrilled to be working with John and to build Parallel 42,” said CEO Warren Goz. “We are dedicated to making this company an exciting home for creatives to express their visions. With John’s superb taste, and creative production experience across all genres and levels of project, we are confident that we can achieve this.”
“There’s a massive opportunity right now to build a company that is nimble, creative-led, and commercially ambitious,” added Zois. “Parallel 42 will be a place where filmmakers can take big swings with real support behind them every step of the process—telling stories that connect and stay with you, whether they unfold over two hours or across an entire season.”...

Readying for its 22nd edition, Polish fest Millennium Docs Against Gravity isn’t shying away from politically charged content, opening with “Coexistence, My Ass!” Its protagonist, pro-Palestinian Israeli comedian Noam Shuster-Eliassi, will also deliver a stand-up performance.
“We’re aware of the subject matter we’re dealing with. Last year, ‘No Other Land’ won the Grand Prix at our festival,” argues festival director Artur Liebhart, calling it “a treasure that shows some hope for reconciliation.”
“It was already shown at other events, at Sundance, but it didn’t get the attention Noam Shuster-Eliassi deserves.”
But the Millennium Docs Against Gravity audience isn’t afraid of films about war, he stresses.
“They want more. Poland is a front-line country but also, it’s not about date night for them. They are engaged and want to learn – and feel – more. Also, it’s an audience that has something that’s not very popular these days,...

The documentary streaming boom is officially over, according to Academy Award-winning producer and Impact Partners co-founder Geralyn Dreyfous.
“The market for streamers is not coming back,” Dreyfous said during a panel discussion at Chicago’s Doc10 film festival over the weekend. “To go into these film festivals like Sundance and think that you are going to get a big sale is la la land (thinking). The numbers are just not there. One of 20 films is being bought out of Sundance. When we started Impact Partners, eight out of 10 of our films were being bought. That’s gone. Gone! We have to create new distribution models.”
Dreyfous, whose credits include “The Invisible War,” “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” and “Navalny,” helped launch Jolt, an AI-driven, direct-to-consumer streaming platform, in 2024. Meant to give a literal jolt to indie docs that might have been a success at festivals across the world but have not found traditional distribution,...

The Predator franchise has had a major resurgence in the 2020s thanks to Dan Trachtenberg’s critically-acclaimed Prey. The director will be back for Predator: Badlands this year, the first theatrically released entry in the franchise since 2018. The first teaser, released earlier this week, gave fans a glimpse of a film they've always dreamed of: a Predator film set in space. However, before the Yautja tackle an epic space odyssey, the franchise will be returning to the Marvel universe in the crossover Predator Kills the Marvel Universe. Now, fans have gotten their first preview of the comic before its summer release.
Revealed exclusively by IGN, Predator Kills the Marvel Universe will see Predator vs. Wolverine and Predator vs. Spider-Man writer Benjamin Percy and artist Marcelo Ferreira return to finish their vs. saga. The story follows the Predators after they take over Wakanda’s vibranium and turn Earth into a hunting preserve.

Director Fede Álvarez’s contribution to the Alien franchise, Alien: Romulus (you can read our review Here), was a success – so it was no surprise to hear, just a couple of months after the film’s theatrical release, that 20th Century Studios was working with Álvarez to develop a sequel to the film. The director has previously said that the sequel will “go into uncharted waters. I think it’ll be so exciting to go with characters you know from (Alien: Romulus), to a place in the Alien franchise that we’ve never been before, and to discover things that you’ve never seen before.” Now, a Rumor has emerged that the film might be a bit of a crossover with another 20th Century Studios property, as a Predator could show up in it!

The first teaser of Predator: Badlands just dropped, and it didn’t take long for the backlash to start. Social media lit up with complaints about the new Predator’s look. But if this outrage sounds familiar, it’s because we have seen this exact reaction before.
The previous Predator franchise, Prey, faced nearly identical criticism for its Feral Predator, which many initially called weird. And yet, Prey went on to become one of the most critically acclaimed entries in the franchise. We’ve been here before, and the story played the same way.

Well, we knew that Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe were quite different from each other, but we didn’t know just how far off they were! The latest issue of Marvel Comics is on the verge of release, and the death toll… will probably be plenty.
Going against the greatest hunters in the galaxy, the upcoming issue of Marvel Comics will see the world unite and fight off against Predators (the ones who Arnold Schwarzenegger killed in his franchise).
It’s the Avengers vs. Predators!
It would have been fine if it was just a single Predator against some superheroes in this crossover event but the writers of Marvel Comics decided to take things to the next stage.

When Dan Trachtenberg's Prey was first released on Hulu in 2022, the film received plenty of praise for its unique setting, relentless action, and bloody thrills. However, one common complaint could actually be taken as a compliment to the film's quality—that it should have gone straight to theaters, rather than streaming. Now, Trachtenberg is back with a new installment in the franchise called Predator: Badlands, and the first trailer for the movie has been released. The preview teases plenty of action along with the theatrical release that Predator fans have been clamoring for since Prey graced the small screen three years ago.
More than just the reveal of a theatrical release, the first trailer for Predator: Badlands (which can be viewed below) teases an entirely new setting and unconventional premise. Whereas Prey took place during the 1700s, Badlands is set in the future on a remote planet, with the...

“Predator: Badlands,” arriving in theaters on Nov. 7, has been shrouded in mystery. Until now.
The trailer for the new film from “Prey” director Dan Trachtenberg has just arrived from the recesses of deep space and you can watch it below.
If “Prey” was a grounded prequel telling the story of one of the first times the alien hunter landed on earth, then “Predator: Badlands” buries the needle in the opposite direction, full of giant monsters, killer vines and an unlikely alliance between a young Predator named Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) and Thia (Elle Fanning), who based on this trailer looks to be playing an android. (Could the “Alien” and “Predator” worlds be more formally merging in this installment?)
“Prey” was such a refreshing rejuvenation of the franchise that began with John McTiernan’s “Predator” back in 1987 and continued with Stephen Hopkins’ underrated “Predator 2” in 1990, Nimrod Antal’s “Predators” in 2010 and...

20th Century Studios has released the trailer for “Predator: Badlands,” the sixth installment in the beloved action sci-fi franchise. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the film stars Elle Fanning as two twin sisters.
Trachtenberg previously directed “Prey,” the last installment in the “Predator” film series. “Prey” was released exclusively on Hulu and went on to score four nominations at the 2024 Emmys. It would take home the win for outstanding sound editing. Trachtenberg’s other directorial bouts include films like “10 Cloverfield Lane,” and shows such as “The Lost Symbol,” “The Boys,” “Black Mirror” and “BlackBoxTV.”
Fanning recently starred as Russian monarch Cathrine the Great in three seasons of Hulu’s “The Great” and starred opposite Timothée Chalamet as Sylvie Russo in James Mangold’s Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown.” Some of her former credits include “Super 8,” “Maleficent,” “Trumbo,” “The Boxtrolls,” “The Neon Demon” and “B’Twixt Now and Sunrise.

“Predator: Killer of Killers” arrives this summer on Hulu, the first animated film in the long-running franchise and one of two new “Predator” movies due out this year. “Killer of Killers” also finds the franchise headed to another era — actually, in this case, three.
The new animated film, directed by “Prey” filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg and set to release on June 6, 2025, will be an anthology story. In total, fans will get to experience a Predator story in the Viking era, feudal Japan, and WWII Europe, each with different heroes leading them. More details on that below.
But before we get there, let’s take stock of everywhere — and every time — the “Predator” franchise has been. It actually dates back pretty far.

Thanks to Prey director Dan Trachtenberg, it’s a great time to be a fan of the Predator movies. After reinvigorating the franchise with his 2022 direct-to-Hulu feature, Tratchenberg has two new projects in the works: This fall’s Predator: Badlands, a future-set story of a Predator teaming up with Elle Fanning on an alien planet, and the newly-confirmed Predator: Killer of Killers, an animated anthology film arriving on Hulu this June.
The existence of Killer of Killers was a poorly-kept secret until now (it’s hard to say something is a well-kept secret if a company executive mentions it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter). But that doesn’t make the movie any less exciting. Here’s the official description, courtesy of 20th Century Studios:

We’ve got some exciting news for anyone who loves a good sci-fi thriller with a twist. There’s a new Predator project coming our way, and it’s shaking things up in a big way. This time, the iconic alien hunter is stepping into a fresh format, bringing its deadly charm to a whole new audience.
If you’ve been keeping up with the franchise, you know it’s had its share of ups and downs, but this latest move feels like a bold step forward.
The Predator series kicked off back in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger facing off against the cloaked extraterrestrial in a jungle showdown.
Since then, we’ve seen the creature stalk prey across cities, alien planets, and even centuries past in the 2022 prequel ‘Prey’. That film, directed by Dan Trachtenberg, took us to the Comanche Nation in 1719 and proved the franchise still has plenty of life left.

Overnight, Dan Trachtenberg became the Predator whisperer. His Comanche action-horror prequel Prey breathed life into the uneven franchise, and its success opened the door to pitch future entries. One idea became Predator: Badlands, which is slotted for a November 7th, 2025 release date (with new details coming out of CinemaCon this past weekend). But what if I told you Trachtenberg completed another Predator film in secret that’ll be available before we enter the Badlands?
Because that’s the truth, and Bloody Disgusting has the exclusive first details.
Predator: Killer of Killers is a three-part animated anthology that showcases Yautja warriors hunting human prey across global history. It’ll premiere as a Hulu exclusive on June 6th, 2025. The voice cast includes Lindsay Lavanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, and Michael Biehn.

Since 1987, Predator fans have taken the ride on the sci-fi horror rollercoaster thanks to the series of films that have stemmed from the original Joel McTiernan-helmed and Arnold Schwarzenegger-led production. And, while we’ve long known that Prey director Dan Trachtenberg has had something up his sleeve beyond Predator: Badlands, its official reveal may shock you. The titular antagonist of the franchise has taken on an array of formidable enemies in the past, but nothing will prepare it for the bloody mess that’s about to break out when Predator: Killer of Killers causes chaos on Hulu on June 6. The biggest twist of all is how audiences will view the latest installment, as, for the first time ever, the creative team is leaving the live-action world behind and sketching their way into animation.

The Predator franchise will return to the big screen in November 2025 with director Dan Trachtenberg’s (Prey, 10 Cloverfield Lane) Predator: Badlands, with Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon) starring. The actor took to the CinemaCon this week to debut a trailer, per THR, revealing an intriguing new detail about Fanning’s role in the film.
Elle Fanning will play Thia, a character that doesn’t fight against the film’s Predator but rather teams up with the alien hunter.
“Something unprecedented happens in this movie, and my character is not the one being chased,” Fanning told CinemaCon’s crowd. “My character actually teams up with the Predator, and you get to see him in a whole new light.”
That aligns with what Trachtenberg previously said of the upcoming release. “The creature is front and centre, leading the charge,” the director stated. “He’s still badass, but there’s something there that touches you emotionally,...

Sundance Documentary ‘Predators,’ an Exposé of ‘To Catch a Predator,’ Sells to MTV Documentary Films

“Predators,” a look into the rise and fall of the pedophile-baiting series “To Catch a Predator,” has sold to MTV Documentary Films following its debut at Sundance.
David Osit directed and produced the documentary, revolving around the hidden-camera reality TV show that ran on NBC from 2004-2007. On the “Dateline” spinoff series, journalist Chris Hansen worked in coordination with law enforcement while conducting sting operations that exposed adult men who were hoping to have sex with minors. The film raises questions about ethical lines in journalism as well as the public’s obsession true-crime stories.
MTV Documentary Films will release the film theatrically this fall. In a release announcing its purchase, the company said it plans “an aggressive awards campaign.” The movie will then stream on Paramount+ with Showtime.

Prey star Amber Midthunder wants to return to the Predatorfranchise but can't tell fans precisely if and when that will happen. Prey debuted on Hulu in August 2022 and blew fans away by giving a new spin on the Predator franchise by placing it in the 1700s and having the iconic alien face off against a young Comanche woman. Midthunder played Naru, a woman who proves to her tribe she is one of their greatest warriors by slaying the mighty Predator. Prey's end credits teased the arrival of more Predators, opening the door for sequels, yet it has been nearly three years with no follow-up.
While promoting her latest film, Novocain, Midthunder spoke with Collider about wanting to reprise her role as Naru in a future Prey sequel. It seems like director Dan Trachtenberg is fully committed to the next entry in the franchise, Predator: Badlands, leaving the fate of...

The Masters of the Universe franchise has been going strong for over forty years now, consisting of multiple lines of action figures, several animated TV shows, a bunch of comic book series, and much more including a live-action film adaptation that was released in 1987 and starred Dolph Lundgren as the iconic character He-Man. Although that ’87 film has a strong fan following, it wasn’t received very well in general… but now, Mattel (the toy company behind the franchise) is ready to give the idea of a live-action Masters of the Universe film another try. The Predator franchise has been through some ups and downs over the years. The original Predatoris the perfect mix of a high-concept sci-fi movie and an action thriller, as its gung-ho heroes are being hunted by a killer alien. Predator 2 moved the action to New York City (and had a deep-cut Easter egg that launched an unexpected crossover with Alien.) Predators is severely underrated; it managed to shake up the franchise formula by taking its human characters off world, resulting in even more danger. But the franchise was nearly derailed by The Predatorin 2018. On the surface, The Predator had all the right ingredients: it would be directed by Shane Black, who had a role in the original Predator and knew his way around an action film, and it featured a cast stacked with talent, including Boyd Holbrook and Sterling K. Brown.

Beyond "Aliens" and "Predators," the alien movie subgenre is debatably the crown jewel of cinematic science fiction. It allows visionary filmmakers and effects designers the chance to show audiences creatures they never would have imagined. Sometimes they're meant to strike terror into the hearts of moviegoers afraid of the unknown, but they can also be used to inspire a profound sense of empathy and wonder about the greater universe that surrounds our little blue planet.
Finding a good alien movie can be tricky, even on a streaming service like Netflix, despite its seemingly infinite offerings in nearly every genre (even though physical media is where the goods truly are). Admittedly, they don't have what many consider to be the best alien movies ever made, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few hidden gems, forgotten masterpieces, and workable misfires in the catalog to fuel your next intergalactic movie night. “I had to file complaints with the studio, and there’s a lot of other little things that go along with it, but it got to this place where I was offered a lot of money,” Munn said (via E! Online). “Seven figures to accept, I guess, their apology and them taking acknowledgement of it, but it came along with an NDA. Not that I ever would talk about it truly, because I wanted to move past it all. But I said I’m not signing an NDA, and they said I have to.”

A Predator movie directed by Shane Black, written by him and the director of The Monster Squad. This sounded like the recipe for an awesome sci-fi action horror film, but what Black delivered was one of the least popular films in the Predator franchise, with a third act that was completely different from what was originally written and a variety of bad ideas being filmed as potential endings. Critics were unimpressed. Fans were disappointed. And now, we’re going to dig into what happened to The Predator.
1987 was a huge year for Shane Black. His original screenplay Lethal Weapon was turned into an action classic by director Richard Donner. His friend, director Fred Dekker, brought their script for the creature feature The Monster Squad to the screen, creating a film that is now considered to be a cult classic. And he was cast alongside the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers,...

The Predator franchise recently received a huge shot to the arm in 2023 with the arrival of Prey, Dan Trachtenberg’s incredible prequel to the 1987 original that refreshed and revived the sci-fi action franchise, and for many even surpassed the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger movie in several ways. Now, audiences are reminding themselves of how Arnie tried, and failed, to get everyone to the chopper almost 40 years ago, and have made the original film an apex predator of Tubi's free streaming chart.
Directed by John McTiernan—who would later helm Die Hard—Predator stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer, leading an elite Special Forces team on a covert rescue mission in Central America – well didn’t he always. What should have been a routine operation soon spirals into a bloody and desperate battle for survival when the group find themselves under attack from an invisible and deadly hunter unlike anything they have encountered before.

The 22nd edition of the True/False Film Fest, kicking off Feb. 27, will feature a lineup of 30 feature documentaries and 24 short docs. The Columbia, Missouri-based four-day doc film festival will showcase eight Sundance 2025 films, including U.S. documentary prize winner “Seeds,” “Predators,” and “The Dating Game.”
The fest’s lineup includes seven world premieres, one international premiere, and three North American premieres. Fourteen of the True/False feature docus were made by first-time feature directors.
“This year’s films run the gamut when it comes to form, tone, and perspective, but the thing that unites them is their unwavering commitments to their artistic visions,” said True/False artistic director Chloé Trayner. “The lineup is a kaleidoscope of reflections on our modern world, embracing past, present, and future in beautiful, devastating, and hopeful ways. We can’t wait to share these films with our audience soon.”

Adrien Brody never looked like a leading man.
Casting agents and executives made that message clear over and over again throughout his three-plus decades as a working actor. “Overtly,” Brody, 51, says. “But, yeah, it was often told to my representatives, and my representatives would share that with me.”
Even after nabbing the best actor Oscar in 2003 at the age of 29 for “The Pianist” — making him the youngest winner ever in the category — he never quite maintained A-list status.
While a few directors came calling with the occasional studio lead role, like Peter Jackson for his $200 million 2005 tentpole “King Kong” and Nimród Antal for the 2010 “Predators” sequel, those were the exceptions. Yes, he’s booked five movies with Wes Anderson since joining the director’s repertory company in 2007’s “The Darjeeling Limited,” but other major roles have eluded him, even while peers such as Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Leonardo DiCaprio...

Sundance is a place for discovery, where new stars are minted because of the fresh, invigorating images they bring to the screen. It was where Steven Soderbergh helped kick off the indie film revolution in 1989 with “sex, lies, and videotape” and Quentin Tarantino launched “Reservoir Dogs” in 1992. They showed that, at Sundance, if you have something to say, you can have a seat at the table.
This year, that daring new voice belongs to Eva Victor, whose comedic character study “Sorry, Baby,” about a young professor reeling from a trauma, sold to A24 for $8 million. “Sorry, Baby” also has the distinction of placing first in many of the categories in IndieWire’s 2025 Sundance Critics Survey, including Best Performance (for Victor herself), Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best First Film, and Best Film itself.

Sundance 2025 may have been an ill-timed off year for an institution in the midst of an existential crisis (largely by dint of its place in an industry in the midst of an existential crisis), but the festival remains completely unrivaled as America’s greatest showcase for the best in new independent cinema, and its latest edition did nothing to change that. Underwhelming as it was on the whole, the 88-feature lineup still had more than its fair share of fantastic and revitalizing films, many of which we’re sure to be talking about for the rest of the year and beyond.
Some (like James Sweeney’s “Twinless” and Clint Bentley’s “Train Dreams”) found semi-established directors emerging as singular talents. Others saw relative unknowns or long-absent favorites step into the spotlight as though it had always been waiting for them. Predictably, however, it was the documentaries that drove most of the conversation,...

Quick LinksWhat Is the Problem With Flight Risk's Winston? How Does Con Air Perfect the Heroic Airplane Prisoner?
The following contains spoilers for Flight Risk, now playing in theaters.
The premise of Flight Risk is simple: Mark Wahlberg plays a hitman pretending to be a pilot named Daryl. He's flying a plane and trying to kill a mob informant being transported. However, he has to contend with a US Marshal named Madolyn (Michelle Dockery), creating a high-octane, intense movie along the lines of Plane and Non-Stop.
Luckily, the prisoner, Winston (Topher Grace), becomes a valuable player and helps Madolyn out. Director Mel Gibson wants fans to empathize with Winston, give him a second chance, and paint him as a hero. However, this redemption story in the high-skies was done much better thanks to a Nicolas Cage film from 28 years ago: Con Air. That film has the strong foundation that Flight Risk lacks.

It might resemble the process of setting up for any documentary: as “Predators” begins, camera crews assemble equipment, angles are established, and on-screen talent takes their place. This, however, is not a documentary; rather, these are shots from behind the scenes of “To Catch a Predator,” a recurring segment on the seminal news program Dateline NBC that became a cultural landmark for much of the mid-’00s and made a star out of journalist/host Chris Hansen.
