The kitchen-sink scarefest anthology American Horror Story returns tonight with Coven, a new 13-episode saga of glorious perversion and off-kilter camera angles. Although the three iterations of Ahs are set in radically different eras and locations, they have one very important thing in common: The presence of Jessica Lange, the two-time Oscar winner who has experienced a late-career renaissance playing variations of heavily-accented maternal overdrive in all three seasons of Ahs. In the first season, she played a fading southern belle in La La Land; in season 2′s Asylum, she was a tough New England nun; now, in Coven, she’s a mega-powerful witch.

With the upcoming release of Selena Gomez’s Stars Dance and the recent reinvention of The Miley, the sexification of the former teen star is in full swing. But what about Demi? While her self-titled album released in May was her weakest to date, the fact remains that Demi Lovato is twenty years old and possesses a discography that a majority of artists her age should envy.
These are her ten best songs that prove her worthy of more consideration than just as “that other Disney girl.”
Honorable Mention: La La Land
This song is ultimately a hair too juvenile to merit inclusion on this list, but it deserves an honorable mention for essentially being a crash course in all things Lovato. While lacking the emotional depth of her later work, this single from her debut album contains all of the trappings of a great Demi track: vocal acrobatics, strong declarations of identity,...

Mad Men, maybe more than any other series on television, has always allowed the audience to feel the time period in which events are occurring.
The sharp suits, the haircuts, the constant drags off of cigarettes and many more details have been part of an escape to the 60s for many seasons.
Over the years, creator Matthew Weiner and company have done an amazing job at slowly but surely changing the style, the behavior and the essence of these characters to coincide with the passing time. The start of Mad Men Season 6 accelerated the changes, with everything a bit groovier - and "A Tale of Two Cities" hammered that fact home.
Los Angeles has always been so stylistically different than New York in life and on Mad Men, but Don and Roger's trip to L.A. only magnified the changes going on across the country. The overflow of hippies and...

Update (May 31, 2013): Suddenly, the movie world makes sense again.
Yesterday, we all went into a mini-tizzy over Patrick Stewart's tweet about having his "first ever pizza 'slice,'" but as it turns out, he meant to put a lot more emphasis on the word "slice" than a simple pair of double quote marks would allow.
Befuddled by all the media attention his little tweet got — this site included, obvs — the good Sir reached out to New York Magazine to set the record straight.
"People misunderstood," he explained. "There was a school of thought that I had eaten my first pizza, but of course how could that possibly be true? I would have had to have stayed locked up in a cellar." Uh, yeah, guy. That was the whole point of the resulting kerfuffle.
"But nevertheless, this was my first slice of pizza," Stewart continued, "which I was only...

“Home” happens to be the type of episode I feel The Walking Dead does with the most skill. I’m game for any episode that is nonstop excitement/action, with plenty of twists and nail biting scenes, but they can start to lose their flavor after too many. What is needed in between is slower moving episodes. Time needs to be taken to put the action aside for a while and have a reevaluation of where everyone is. There’s an obvious downside to this approach – you could wind up with a boring hour of television. “Home” avoids this trip up by including two big action sequences, one halfway through and another toward the end. Filling things out are strong character moments showcasing the changes the characters are going through. Rick is chasing ghosts, Glenn is consumed with rage and thoughts of vengeance and Daryl is realizing blood doesn’t always make you family.

Bro-show "Entourage", HBO's insider look at the rise of Hollywood playboy Vinnie Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his crew of hangers-on and others in search of any stardom run-off, has been given the big-screen green light by Warner Bros., according to Deadline Hollywood.
Series creator Doug Ellin, who also served as an executive producer alongside Mark Wahlberg whose own La La Land experiences helped to inspire the show, will be directing the "Entourage" movie, which at this point is without a confirmed start date.
Deadline goes on to say that deals are starting to be drawn up to get series leads on board, including star Grenier, Kevin Dillon, who played Vinnie's knuckle-headed wannabe actor brother, Kevin Connolly, that would be E, Vinnie's high-school pal turned manager, Jerry Ferrara, the entrepreneurial Turtle and Jeremy Piven, who routinely wowed as Ari Gold, a ruthless, over-the-top agent who lives to get a signature on the dotted line.

With Latinos accounting for more than 50.5 million (0r 16 percent) of the U.S. population, according to the latest Census numbers, Hollywood has developed a fascination with the Latino community--and in particular, La La Land seems to be fascinated with the Spanish language.
An increasing number of celebs are speaking Spanish these days in movies, on television shows, and in their music. But it's not the Spanish we all know and love, or even the Español we all understand. No, señor! Hollywood has discovered that audiences find it funny (scratch that, hilarious!) when people speak really bad Spanish, so when Español is used in movies or on television, it's often used to achieve comedic effect.
From Kristen Wiig in "Bridesmaids" to Will Ferrell in "Casa de mi Padre," to Mayor Mike Bloomberg in (well, you'll see!), we proudly present our favorite celebrities (trying) to speak Spanish.

Demi Lovato performs at the Pnc Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on Friday

Holmdel, New Jersey — Not even rain showers could scare away the Lovatics who crowded the Pnc Bank Arts Center to catch the latest stop on Demi Lovato's summer tour Friday night. The star, who's fitting in the trek between her judging duties on the "X Factor," brought out some of New Jersey's most devoted Demi fans. The star swaggered out to a killer guitar riff before busting out the night's first song, "All Night Long." She shimmied all night in red shorts, a black-and-white blazer and a sheer top, never once stumbling in her sky-high platforms.
She displayed her rock-star bravado when she teased and flirted with her band during tracks that were hardly audible over all the screams.

Hollywood’s alternative for audiences swamped by superheroes this summer still includes the deployment of spandex, albeit in a slightly more outrageous, yet equally heroic fashion, in the adaptation of celebrated Broadway musical, Rock of Ages.
A young wannabe singer from Kansas named Sherrie (Footloose star Julianne Hough) arrives in La with hopes of hitting the big time. Robbed of her possessions almost immediately, another aspiring rock star named Drew (Mexican singer Diego Boneta) comes to her aid. He works as a busboy in the Strip’s hottest nightclub, the Bourbon Room (a fictitious version of La’s infamous Whisky a Go Go) and he manages to get her hired as a waitress, under the proviso she keeps a lid on her career aspirations (it appears that literally everyone else has that same dream).

Who knew that the inner office politics of what to get your boss when his father dies was such a strategic operation. Muffin baskets are so ten years ago, catering for a 75 person dinner is the norm and charitable donations are deemed too impersonal.
This is the predicament Bev, Matt and Sean find themselves in when Merc’s Father suddenly dies, this is made all the more complicated by the fact Pucks is under performing and Matt is sleeping with Merc’s wife.
Funeral etiquette is very different in La La land and news of Matthew Broadrick becoming available after his NBC deal fell through manages to interrupt the service. Sean’s night with Morning finally comes out to a quietly devastated Beverly,

Bethenny Frankel's fiction-writing debut, "Skinnydipping," won't be released till May 1, but Frankel has already been approached about turning it into a movie or TV series. And she's got her eye on one starlet in particular to play main character Faith Brightstone.
"Mila Kunis would be perfect," Frankel tells the Associated Press.
She also says "Glee" actress Lea Michele would be an option for the project, which she feels should be a film first with the option of a television series later.
Here's the description of "Skinnydipping," part of the Skinnygirl entrepreneur and "Bethenny Ever After" star's three-book fiction deal, from Simon & Schuster:
"Faith is an aspiring actress just out of college, who moves to L.A. determined to have it all -- a job on the most popular TV show, a beach house in Malibu, and a gorgeous producer boyfriend. But when reality hits, she finds herself with a gig as a glorified servant,...

For some a move to the Big Apple can be a bit of an overwhelming experience. But Nick is a New Jersey native and a longtime theater kid, so his return to the East Coast, after putting up home bases in Dallas and La La Land, has been quite the fun change of pace.

After the promising eclecticism of their debut Parc Avenue and the sexy grooves of La La Land, Plants and Animals’ third full-length, The End of That finds this trio of Canucks sounding more grown-up and mellowed out. The shape-shifting tracks, nods to psychedelia and lush symphonic arrangements of their earlier work take a backseat on this record to hints of folk (“Hc” and the gorgeous “Before”), Americana (“The End of That”) and rootsy rock-n-roll.

Aside from Tim Roth’s fantastic performance as Thade, some would say Danny Elfman’s score was the best part of Tim Burton’s ill-fated 2001 re-imagining of Planet Of The Apes, and for those in that camp, La La Land Records has an exciting announcement. A limited edition 3-disc set will include the film version of the score, including source cues and alternates, as well as the original 2001 album that includes a remix from Paul Oakenfeld. The release will be limited to 3500 copies and will be available exclusively through the La La Land website.
Elfman’s work on Planet Of The Apes was unique for him at the time, utilizing heavy percussion and electronic sounds that, until that time, were mostly relegated to his Oingo Boingo days. The score really is a treat, and this special edition will be a welcome addition to any Burton, Elfman, or score collector.

From young love to established romantic empires, 2011 was all about Pda. Some of La La Land's most A-list couples weren't shy about flaunting the love they share. From musicians to actors to everyone in between, the last 12 months were all about sharing the love. As the year winds down, MTV News is reflecting on some of our favorite couples of the year.
Britney Spears and Jason Trawick
The couple walked red carpets, gave each other shout-outs at awards shows and even got naked together in Britney's "Criminal" video, but it wasn't until December that they decided to make it official. After two years of dating, Spears and Trawick took their relationship to the next level, with confirmation that...

Mary J. Blige is already one of the biggest divas in the music industry, but she's gearing up to set the big screen on fire in 2012 with the movie version of the hit Broadway show "Rock of Ages."
"In the movie 'Rock of Ages,' I play a gentleman's club owner and her name is Justice Charlier and she has to try to be a light in a dark place. ... [My role is] to make these chicks feel better about their lives and move past the strip club," she told MTV News at "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul," where she took the stage alongside Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Jill Scott.
But the movie's not sad all the time. The singer noted that,...

*here be some spoilers.
Creator: Curtis Gwinn.
Director: Peter Lauer.
Writer: Eric Weinberg.
"Death Valley" ended its twelve show running November 21st with "Peace in the Valley." This was another short episode that packed in a lot of plot developments in twenty minutes. The vampires in the valley declared peace, John John (Texas Battle) and Rinaldi (Tania Raymonde) shared a kiss and a new creature was prowling the San Fernando Valley in murderous style. Only one question remained; will there be a second season?
That question has not been answered yet. In this episode, there was a lot of action and very little comedy. There was an awkward enema at the hospital, but this episode stayed mostly with the tone of drama. The peaceful meeting between the Undead Task Force and the vampires in the city started off well and then, ended badly. John John and Rinaldi are getting closer,...

La La Land Records has issued a 2-cd original soundtrack recording of Dimitri Tiomkin's score for the 1963 epic 55 Days at Peking. The Samuel Bronston film remains woefully underrated in its telling of the rebellion by the Chinese Boxer movement against American and European governments that they perceived had encroaching influence in China. The resulting clash saw the U.S. and European garrisons fighting against overwhelming odds. The film, which mingles the merits of the political stances of both sides with major battle sequences, starred Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner and David Niven. Tiomkin's wonderful score can now be enjoyed in its true glory- but you'd better hurry. This is limited to only 2500 units. Click here to order...

See what insulting Johnny Depp gets you? A returning gig as host of an awards show widely known as Oscar's more drunk, flirty little brother, if you're Ricky Gervais.
The acid-tongued actor and comedian, who has no interest in panning to the massive egos that reside in La La Land, slagged quite a few A-listers while he drank a pint as host of last year's festivities. And despite mumbles of sulky celebs and Gervais offending the Hollywood Foreign Press Association brass (the bigwigs who run the show), the Brit is returning for his third stint and wasted no time goading his detractors when he tweeted at this year's Oscar host: "Just told Billy Crystal he'd better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars. He agreed (true)."...

Diego Luna and Katy Perry in "The One That Got Away" music video

Katy Perry and Diego Luna are falling in and out of love in the Floria Sigismondi-directed clip for Perry's track "The One That Got Away," which debuts Friday (November 11). Perry's casting of the Mexican movie star hardly marks the first time that pop has solicited a big-name actor for the lead in a music video. Some of the biggest A-listers in La La Land have done their time in the world of music videos.
The new millennium has seen many a star play supporting roles in some of the biggest love-story-based videos to hit the streets in the last decade. In honor of Luna and Perry's hookup for her video, we're shouting out some of the...

Hollywood's most troubled couple was spotted in New York City last night having dinner at Da Tammaso. Wait, Hollywood's most troubled couple? That's too generic of a statement. Let me be clear... Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards were spotted dining out and supposedly they were all smiles.
Earlier this year Denise Richards couldn't stand Charlie Sheen and Charlie was a complete nut. Well, it looks like things change. I must say it is nice to hear that the two are having a nice dinner together. They have children together and it is important for the two of them to have a good relationship for the kids.
However, according to TMZ it was just the two of the them at dinner. The kids weren't even there. So, this could actually mean that the two could be getting back together. Who knows? Maybe Demi and Ashton set it up so the spotlight...

Is it me or do these people in La La Land move from one fling to another in the blink of an eye?
According to Us Weekly, Scarlett Johansson and Justin Timberlake spent the night together on September 14. Bam chicka wah wah.
Wasn't this chick just spotted with Kieran Culkin... at a strip club? I can't keep up here!
During a night out at 1Oak in New York City, Scarlett and Justin were supposedly flirting up a storm, even though others guys made the attempt to talk to her. But, alas, Scarlett only had eyes for Justin.

In case you didn’t get the memo, Gossip Girl is going Hollywood (a.k.a. the home of fresh starts, per Serena) when it returns on Sept. 26.
Chuck reinvents himself as a thrill seeker in La La Land, while Nate pretends to be “that guy in that movie” before reverting back to his cougar-baiting habits with Elizabeth Hurley. But back in New York, life goes on. Future bride Blair is sending Save the Date cards, which Dan doesn’t look too happy about, and Gossip Girl is still Dorota’s primary source of news.

And the ex-games wage on! Well, at least in our minds. While formerly wedded hotties Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds may play nice in La La Land, we've got no problem pitting their post-split sex appeal against one another and deciding which divorcee is truly "winning." So what's Scarlett's latest attempt at out-swooning her ab-tastic ex-hubby? A pouty cover of a classic Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot song. But first, let's back up: While Ry has long fit the big-screen super dude role, he took center stage as a single man with his Green Lantern gig. And the flick did pretty well. But it's Scarlett who takes the comic-book cake, 'cause not only...

For probably the first time ever, "Gossip Girl" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" are following a similar theme: coast-hopping.
The New York-based "Gossip Girl" is heading to La for their fifth season and, from the looks of the newly released promo, La La land has had quite the affect on the Upper East Siders.
Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) seems to be - in the wise-cracking style of Woody Allen - true to her New York roots.
“Los Angeles is a plastic surgery layover, not somewhere you live,” the character said. “Everyone has dinner there at six.”
Though, the group does get to explore a whole lot of character arcs including the sultry Elizabeth Hurley, who gets hot and heavy with Nate Archibald (Chance Crawford).
The new season of Gossip Girl premieres September 26, on The CW.

After flying to L.A. for the VMAs, the cast shares how they would have endured the storm's charge through New Jersey.

"We've warned the public," New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced on Saturday as Hurricane Irene shut down most of the East Coast, "and now we have to deal with Mother Nature." That's when the cast of the "Jersey Shore" took out their grenade whistle and declared: So long, ladies!
The storm whipped through the Tri-State area early Sunday morning (August 28), leaving thousands in New Jersey and Long Island without power, and causing dangerous floods in the Garden State. But housemates Snooki, Vinny, Deena and Sammi were safe and dry, having sauntered aboard a private jet and zipped away from the tri-state area and toward Los Angeles for the VMAs, pausing only for Vinny to tweet a picture...

Taylor Swift is a gal who likes a good party. That's exactly why she has a whole backstage setup—dubbed the "T Party"—prepped at all her shows. It helps her both get into performance mode and unwind afterward with some pizza, soda and (get this) fifty or so fans. Sadly, though, between her shindigs and touring, Tay doesn't have much time to chill and tune into the boob tube. So when we hung out with Taylor at her party before her first show last night in La La Land we had to know if she'd caught her (musical) appearance on True Blood... As you'll surely recall, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) got hump happy in the back of a pickup truck last week while one of...

There's a new gay film from Casper Andreas (Violet Tendencies, Slutty Summer) making the festival rounds. In fact, it's currently playing at Outfest in Los Angeles. The film is an adaptation of the comic memoir novel Going Down in La La Land which chronicles the adventures of a naive young actor who gets mixed up in porn/hustling when he tries to make it in Hollywood. As one does. Model/actor Matthew Ludwinski has the lead role.

I recently interviewed him for global queer culture magazine mate (previously known as "winq") and that's the splash page for the start of the article above. Interviews can be tricky -- especially if the interviewee doesn't have a big resume to talk about -- but Ludwinski and his photographer David Waage for this profile were very friendly and fun. It's no secret that esteemed journalist Patt Morrison is a die-hard Angelino--but no one knew to what end. When Morrison got wind of an alleged anti-La La Land slight by the doe-eyed Zooey Deschanel, the gloves came off.
The opening line of the La Times opinion column yesterday read, "I can't believe Zooey Deschanel is really the snobby cow she came off sounding like Saturday evening."
As a guest of the BAFTA gala, along with The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Deschanel worried that the surroundings wouldn't meet their approval. "I just don't want them to see the worst of L.A," the actress said.
Morrison's article straddles the line between love letter and hate letter--outlining Downtown La's royal-worthy qualities while continually expressing her shock and scorn over Deschanel's comment. "I cannot apologize enough to Ms. Deschanel that in some places, the sidewalks do not smell like Jo Malone candles.

Remember the other day when I was b*tching about how La La Land execs have been dawdling in their remake of Oldboy? Well, color me incorrect. Either that, or they heard my booze-soaked tears a-fallin.
I have no idea if Johnny Depp is still signed on to play the lead in the remake of the 2003 cult South Korean film by Park Chan-wook, the director of Sympathy For Lady Vengeance, who's inspired stateside torture porn like Eli Roth's movies. However, the ball's rolling again on a Us remake and Spike Lee has signed on to helm. Steven Spielberg and Will Smith were interested in 2008 as well, but no word on dems either.

Despite the recent revelation that it was in fact Transformers executive producer, and Hollywood's powerful granddaddy, Steven Spielberg who demanded director Michael Bay "fire her right now" after she compared Bay to, arguably the most famous dictator, Hitler during an interview, Megan Fox hasn't become persona no grata in La La Land.
In fact, given Sacha Baron Cohen's own penchant for ruffling feathers, being purposely controversial and delighting in making people uncomfortable, having a loose-lipped 25-year-old starlet in his upcoming movie The Dictator almost makes perfect sense
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox and funnyman John C. Reilly will be making cameos in Baron Cohen's "heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed."

With Father's Day coming up this weekend, we decided to eschew the usual run-of-the-mill movie dad polls by surveying our readers for what really counts – abdominal muscles (!) Seriously, though, it is at least "kind of" a priority in La La land, where looks might not be as important as your children, but they're still way up there if you're a professional actor. So, which movie stars with kids did you readers think did their darndest to keep it toned, and which have been letting it all hang out a little too much? Below are the full results. All we can say is, Fighter Marky Mark is still putting out some good vibrations when it comes to the Hollywood fitness regiment…and Jack Black, well, he might be more often spotted ringside with the hot dogs and the beer....
