"The whole desire of who I share screen space with has changed and, for me, what matters the most is which director I am working with. Though I have been working for quite some time, did modelling and ad campaigns, after working with ('Scam 1992 director) Hansal (Mehta) sir, I just realised how important it is for an actor to grab the opportunity to work with great directors. With three films and a web series in his kitty, Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar is in a good space in his career. The "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na" fame actor says there is a big shift in his approach towards his work, and so, he does not take any opportunities for granted.
"I was just 19 years old when I did my first film and had no plan to act or to become an actor. It was like a paid holiday so that I could earn good pocket money and then party more with my friends. When I finally found my calling, I started learning and enjoying the craft. Now, I take the process seriously.
"Perhaps that is why I do not take the success and criticism (to the heart). With time, the one thing that I have learned is, never taking the opportunity for granted. Initially, the success went to...

Going unconventional yet again we hear superstar Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao has already started shooting her second directorial. Titled Begum Aapa, we hear that the film has gone on floor at Filmalaya studios in suburban Mumbai. However, several details, from the casting to production are being kept hush-hush. The film is said to be revolving around an elderly lady and her bond with a few children. From what we hear, the filmmaker is striving to maintain the story strictly under wraps and the cast and crew have apparently even signed a non-disclosure agreement. It is also being said that the film will be shot from a start to end schedule. It has also been learnt that, Aamir Khan will be seen in a cameo in the film but no details of his role have been divulged either. Readers may be aware that Kiran made her directorial debut with...

Click above for more event stills Though there were a few interesting sessions lined up, it all felt like a lead up for the glamorous evening ahead. Here are a few highlights of day 3 at Ficci Frames. Successful film content for the future: Rise of the debutants - Nobody would deny that 2010 saw a string of successful films directed by debutants and starring new faces. Karan Johar's hand picked panel featured names like - Abhishek Sharma (Tere Bin Laden), Kiran Rao (Dhobi Ghat), Ranveer Singh (Band Baaja Baaraat), Sonakshi Sinha (Dabangg), Habib Faisal (Do Dooni Chaar), Vikramaditya Motwane (Udaan) and Maneesh Sharma (Band Baaja Baaraat). The key issue discussed was how each of these filmmakers challenged the industry conventions and formulas by telling a story that was personal and engaging. Their films were 'concept films', termed by Abhishek Sharma and the panel unanimously agreed that concepts are bigger than stars and budgets.

On the panel, were last year's best debutants Ranveer Singh & Sonakshi Sinha along with some of the best new talent in direction such as Maneesh Sharma, Abhishek Sharma, Vikramaditya Motwane, Habib Faisal and Kiran Rao. He made a splash in a small part in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and once again he impressed as one of the main characters in Dhobhi Ghat. So much so that Prateik Babbar's success in Dhobi Ghat has lead him to his first role as the romantic lead of a mainstream Hindi film. His costar will be UK native Amy Jackson, who has performed in other South Indian films, but this will be her first foray into Bollywood.
The film is a remake of the Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. While the Hindi version will have it's own flavor, it is based upon the love story between two people from different religions and cultures.
Prateik's acting in Dhobi Ghat established him as a talented artist, but will the romantic element be an easy change for the newbie? We will find out when the film is released in July of this year.

A name means a quite a bit in the Hindi film industry and one-namers are always in style. The most recent one namer is newcomer Prateik, formerly Prateik Babbar. He flew under the radar in his debut film, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, but his most recent film, Dhobi Ghat caught the entire industry’s attention. Underplayed good looks and a fresh face make him the new Bollywood media
sensation.
However, all the publicity seems to be coming between Prateik and his father’s side of the family. After Prateik commented that Abhishek Bachchan was like an older brother to him, real life brother Arya Babbar is angry that Prateik has forgotten his ties with his family.
While many see this enmity as a continuation of the Babbar/Bachchan rivalry, father Raj Babbar has faith in his family and his sons. He comments, "If Prateik wishes to be known without...

The actor, who has managed quite a following with his two films Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Dhobi Ghat, is the new dream star of bollywood filmmakers. Now, it's learnt that there are plies of scripts lying unread on Prateik's...

Morning Glory Even though I enjoyed Morning Glory, I wouldn't recommend it as a buy. This is an easy title to recommend for rental and I would bet there will be some people out there that will actually consider this a solid purchase, but I won't be the one to recommend it. You can read my theatrical review right here where I basically praise Rachel McAdams.

Bereft of inspiration today, Nathaniel turns to box office, the thing everyone else talks about elsewhere on the interwebs. Endure it! I have questions.

01 new Rango $38
02 new The Adjustment Bureau $21.1
03 new Beastly $9.8
04 Hall Pass $8.8 (cumulative: $26.8)
05 Gnomeo & Juliet $7.2 (cumulative: $84)
06 Unknown $6.5 (cumulative: $53)
07 Just Go With It $6.4 (cumulative: $88.1)

09 I Am Number Four $5.7 (cumulative: $46.4)
10 Justin Bieber: Never Say Never $4.2 (cumulative: $68.8)
Because I am finally free of Oscar season time constraints, I'll let you choose which new release from this week and next I should watch next to remount the "right now" movie horse. Obviously I need no push to get to Jane Eyre (Fassy! Mia!) so I left it off the list. Which other one should I write about?
