15-year-old Oliver Tate has two objectives: To lose his virginity before his next birthday, and to extinguish the flame between his mother and an ex-lover who has resurfaced in her life.
Based on the book by Joe Dunthorne.
Lloyd Tate:
Listen, look, i know you think I'm very boring, you know... but once i ripped my vest off in front of a woman, and err... it was very effective actually. It produced a very atavistic response.
All the way at the end of the movie, Oliver and Jordana are standing right next to each other on the beach, with Jordana's dog between them. Then the camera changes and they are seen from behind. Suddenly, they are much further apart and the dog is at the other side of Jordana.
The Art Director Sarah Pasquali is credited also as "woman who looks nothing like Jordana".
