Following George Wendt’s passing, fans across the world are reflecting on the legacy of the man who brought Norman Peterson to life on Cheers. For more than a decade, he made audiences laugh as the friendly, beer-loving regular whose name was always greeted with a loud “Norm!” every time he walked into the bar.

This also proved to be quite lucrative for him, earning him steady paychecks and long-term recognition in the industry. So, here’s a look at how much George Wendt made for playing Norman in Cheers.

Ty Burrell has been a huge reason behind my obsession with Modern Family. The goofy, suburban dad who always tried his best and was inadvertently funny became the main attraction of the show over the years.
What made his progress in the show even more special, though, was learning just how hard he had to fight to get the role of Phil Dunphy when the casting process was underway. Which is ironic, as the show’s creators have admitted that the role was written specifically with Ty Burrell in mind.
Interestingly, though, for an actor I have loved and admired endlessly on screen for so long, there was one crucial piece of information about Burrell’s dedication to Modern Family that I only found out now. That is, he did his own stunt for the sitcom, which could have gone awry at any moment.

Modern Family may have wrapped in April 2020, but the cast still lives rent-free in our heads. From Julie Bowen’s seemingly ageless glow to one actor who’s pulling off the “finest wine” transformation like a pro, the glow-ups (and glow-steady cases) are real.
Over the years, this lovable sitcom family’s had their own aging arc. Whether it’s the Dunphy kids stepping into their adult era or the Pritchetts embracing silver fox status, this then-and-now rewind proves that time has only turned up the style and swagger, and not dulled their charm.

When you have a favorite television series, especially one that goes on for so long, you get invested in everything about it. From the story, to the characters, and even the cast. We always like to hear good things about the relationships between co-stars, otherwise sometimes it becomes a bit tainted. And unfortunately, we do end up learning that some actors didn't get along or aren't close anymore. Thankfully when it comes to Modern Family, it looks like all the cast members are still close. And there's two in particular who are besties.
In an interview with People recently, Ariel Winter who played Alex Dunphy shared that she and her TV younger brother Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy) are "extremely close" and "still best friends," to this day. Aw, this comment just warms our hearts! It definitely put a smile on my face.

The Big Bang Theory is still one of my favorite comedies around, and it's one of those that I consistently rewatch like Friends or Modern Family. What's great about it is that if you put on a random episode just to have something on, it works. Basically all of the characters had major milestones and character development - except for Raj.
In the "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive Insider Story of the Epic Hit Series" book by Jessica Radloff, Raj actor Kunal Nayaar talked about his character's ending. As we saw over the course of 12 seasons, Raj eventually overcame his selective mutism, learned how to support himself without his wealthy father's money, and came to terms with self-love at the very end. Here's what the actor said in the book:
"I thought it was very astute that the one person who wanted love so badly realizes maybe he needs to love himself first.

Modern Family is more than just a sitcom; it’s an emotion for millions around the world. Ever since its pilot episode aired on September 23, 2009, the ABC series has become a beloved household name, thanks to its perfect comic timing, bang-on casting, great storyline, and, of course, Phil Dunphy.
Among all the iconic pairings in the show, the one refreshing to see on screen was the dynamic duo of Jay Pritchett and Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. From their significant age gap to their cultural differences, the couple casually broke stereotypes while remaining one of the most entertaining duos on screen.
Despite the show’s massive success, it feels like the writers missed a golden opportunity to bring a more engaging storyline to Modern Family by giving Gloria and Jay a daughter instead of a son. It’s not just us; the fans feel the same.

When Modern Family first came out, it not only gifted fans with some of the most hilarious plotlines but also some of the most iconic characters to ever exist. One of these very characters was Manny, played by Rico Rodriguez, who initially started off as an adorable fan-beloved character on the sitcom but then went on to be regarded among fans’ least favorites.
However, while the onscreen character’s personality and the fans’ reaction to it were one thing, the child star claimed at one point during the show’s airing that he feels he has become like his character in real life. This is actually concerning, considering how Manny was actually one of the characters that the show literally ruined for the fans over the years.

Modern Family fans have long wondered if the beloved sitcom might someday return, and the teasing reunions and nostalgia glimpses from former cast members have only added more interest to the topic. Now, Sarah Hyland, who played Haley Dunphy for all 11 seasons, weighed in on whether she’d be open to returning.
While she hasn’t ruled out a return, she’s not jumping in without hesitation either. Hyland made it clear that she has one condition that would need to be met before she agrees to join a reboot. It certainly stems from how the show treated her character in its final season.

As a big Modern Family fan, I’ve watched the show more times than I can even remember – and I still laugh just as hard each time. But if the series ever gets a revival on the streaming giant Netflix, there’s one thing I’d love to see: Sofia Vergara’s Gloria finally getting a proper job that actually makes sense for her character.
Don’t get me wrong, I love her feisty Colombian personality and one-liners, but it always felt like the show didn’t really know what to do with her career-wise. Even though the writers did some incredible work when it came to Claire and her closet business. But for Gloria nothing was done!

Modern Family is a breath of fresh air, and it redefined what sitcoms could be. With its mockumentary-style delivery and diverse cast, the show had so much humor and heart that one simply couldn’t get enough of it.
Among all the colour characters was Mitchell Pritchett, the slightly neurotic but sharp-tongued lawyer, who was the perfect match to his theatrical partner Cameron. Their relationship normalized same-sex relationships on television, and even though they took a daring step, there’s one emotional arc that could have added more to the show.

Today, Prime Video announced a major development in the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series. The streamer revealed through Deadline that none other than '90s heartthrob James Van Der Beek has joined the cast in a recurring role. The Dawson's Creek and Apartment 23 star will share the screen with the new Elle Woods (Lexi Minetree), but at this point we don't know in how many episodes he will participate. A release date for Elle is yet to be announced.
Per Deadline, Van Der Beek will play the city’s new mayoral candidate and current school district superintendent, Dean Wilson. Since the new series covers Elle Woods' high school years, this may suggest that Dean Wilson and the young girl will go head-to-head on different occasions. In the movie series, Elle became known for not catering to people in positions of power, so the series might show how the future lawyer developed her backbone.

The cast of Modern Family is memorable for a lot of reasons, from the presence of icons like Sofia Vergara to their impeccable behind-the-scenes chemistry. A beloved addition to this cast was Aubrey Anderson-Emmons’ Lily Tucker-Pritchett, who became part of the sitcom when she was just 4 years old.

When Modern Family premiered in 2009, Mitch and Cam were pioneering network TV’s first prominent gay couple raising a child. At that time, LGBTQ representation was rare, which made their presence felt revolting, a sign of shifting norms. But rewatching the show today, their depiction raises uncomfortable thoughts.
While the series supported LGBTQ+ visibility, it somewhat did so through a lens of subtle homophobia, reducing Mitch and Cam to stereotypes rather than letting them evolve as authentically as the straight couples.
Unlike the rest of the couples, Mitch and Cam’s relationship was frequently reduced to humor rooted in tired tropes rather than authentic character development through most of the seasons.
How were they in a Stereotype Trap? A still of Mitch and Cam from Modern Family.Credits: ABC.
From the series few dynamics can be analysed to understand the Stereotypical setting Mitch and Cam’s relationship is portrayed in.

It's that time of year again that we celebrate the ladies who brought us into this world, raised us and inspired us to be the people we have become. It seems all the more significant during this time in which moms have been spending a lot more time with their kiddos.
It would be interesting to see how some of our favorite tv moms would have handled quarantine, or if some kids would actually be "safer at home" with some of these moms. It's quite likely that if Malcolm and his brothers didn't blow the house up out of sheer boredom, Lois's screaming would have brought the place down. It's doubtful that Marie Barone could have maintained social distancing, and not popped over to criticize Debra's latest meal or endeavor while continuing to spoil Raymond. But then, the June Cleavers, Harriet Nelsons and Margaret Andersons would likely put us...

But while most shows explained the reason behind their mockumentary format, Modern Family received some side-eyes for never giving a solid reason why cameras were all up in the Dunphys’ business.
Turns out, while The Office spent years explaining the why, how, and awkward silence of the mockumentary style, Modern Family just swooped in and cashed in on the idea. And quite naturally, that did not sit well in Scranton. Sure, both shows became comedy gold, but The Office crew took some offense at Modern Family’s sneaky success.

I shouldn’t have to confirm that that I am still watching after a single 22-minute episode of ‘The Office.’
Peacock has become one of the most-watched streaming services in my house as of late, but there’s one “feature” that has become so overwhelmingly annoying that I’ve considered giving up on the streamer altogether. From reruns of “The Office” to “Modern Family” to newer releases like “St. Denis Medical,” there is a ton of content that my family and I love to watch on Peacock, especially considering the price. As we’ve been using the streamer more, we’ve found that its interface is extremely user-friendly; navigating around and accessing the shows is very intuitive, and at first, it was truly a breath of fresh air in what can be a complicated streaming world.

Being a child star might sound like a dream, but through and through, Hollywood stars like Emma Watson and Millie Bobby Brown have reflected on the heavy price they had to pay for their early stardom. Even the Modern Family actress Ariel Winter, who donned the role of the brainy and lovable Alex Dunphy, opened up about the hardship of growing up in front of millions.
Reflecting on her transformation from an 11-year-old child actor to a teen, and then into a young woman, Ariel Winter mentioned how the world didn’t watch with kindness. Instead of embracing her natural growth and aging, Winter was hit with cruel, body-shaming comments and harsh judgment from so-called fans who couldn’t accept that she wasn’t just her onscreen character.

It's never easy to be a child star. Even if you have a healthy, stable home life, it can be difficult to deal with the highs and lows of fame as a juvenile. That's not counting the work schedules, trying to keep up with schooling, and still trying to be a kid, so it's not always surprising when super successful child stars drop out of the limelight for at least a little while upon reaching adulthood. Young women have to try to reconcile growing up with their fandoms, which can be incredibly difficult, while also trying to pave a career and a way forward for themselves. For "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter, it was all just a little bit too much.

Ariel Winter is getting real about how it was growing up in front of the cameras, starring in Modern Family.
The young star landed the role of Alex Dunphy at just 11 years old, and as she got older, she faced scrutiny over her body with mean comments on social media and in the press.
“That was a major part of my teenage years,” she told People. “It was just everywhere. It was every headline I read about myself, like, grown people writing articles about me saying how I looked terrible or pregnant or like a fat slut. I mean, I was 14. It totally damaged my self-esteem.”
Winter played the daughter of Julie Bowen’s Claire and Ty Burrell’s Phil in the ABC comedy that ran for 11 seasons and ended in 2020. Facing the body shaming on social media was not easy for Winter as comments about her weight gain grew.

Ariel Winter is opening up about the downsides of fame during her time on the iconic ABC sitcom “Modern Family.”
In a conversation with People, Winter said that while playing Alex Dunphy on 11 seasons of the 22-time Emmy-winner, the media brutally critiqued her physical appearance. In the early seasons of the show, Winter was only 14 years old, which made the negative attention all the more difficult to deal with.
“It was every headline I read about myself, like, grown people writing articles about me saying how I looked terrible or pregnant or like a fat slut. I mean, I was 14,” Winter said. “It totally damaged my self-esteem.”
“No matter what I was going through, I was a target,” she added. “It made it very difficult to look at myself in the mirror and go, ‘I love this version of me.'”

Ariel Winter starred as Alex Dunphy in the smash-hit sitcom Modern Family. But once the show was over, people didn't hear a lot from her... and it turns out there was a good reason why.
Winter has always made it clear she was bullied relentlessly online while the show was going on, and today she spoke about the pain in an interview withPeople magazine. It was so bad, she explained, that she left Los Angeles entirely. “It was just everywhere," she told People. "It was every headline I read about myself, like, grown people writing articles about me saying how I looked terrible or pregnant or like a fat sl*t. I mean, I was 14. It totally damaged my self-esteem.”
As if that wasn't bad enough, Winter has always maintained she suffered abuse from her mother, Chrisoula Workman, while Modern Family was on the air. Workman denies the allegations, but...

It’s been more than five years since Modern Family ended in 2020, and Ariel Winter, who played Alex Dunphy on all 11 seasons of the show, has mostly retreated from the spotlight. The actress moved from Los Angeles to Nashville with her boyfriend, Luke Benward, in 2022, and spoke to People in a rare interview about what she’s up to now. “I didn’t leave the industry,” she confirmed. Winter has had a few voice roles since Modern Family and has also started getting into producing, in addition to acting. In fact, she’s the producer on a film she’s starring in this year called Don’t Log Off. For the most part, she and Benward live a quiet life with their six dogs. She has taken up cooking as a hobby and passion and said she’s currently developing a cooking show. Winter also works with the organization Sosa (Safe...

“Abbott Elementary” and “Ghosts” are two of the greatest comedies on TV, period. Yes, I know they’re broadcast shows — but that’s my point. Until recently, that was considered a knock when it came to awards and critical acclaim. Not in 2025.
Everyone loves a story about the rise of the underdog, and broadcast is definitely experiencing one. After too many years of being the place where you sold your lesser (but extremely profitable!) work, broadcast has been lauded as once again a cool place to produce.
It started, of course, with the “Netflix effect.” What have people been bingeing at the streamers? Why, broadcast series like “The Office,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “NCIS” — the kinds of shows with deep libraries because they came from broadcast’s 22- or 24-episode seasons.

Ed O’Neill charmed fans as Jay Pritchett on Modern Family for 11 long years. While Sofia Vergara’s Gloria is widely considered to be the face of the sitcom, O’Neill’s Jay Pritchett is considered to be the soul of the series. As such, it is no wonder that he worked so hard to bring his best work forward for the show.
Well, it checks out since O’Neill has admitted himself that he was so impressed by the script that he even changed his initial decision not to do a sitcom again after Married…With Children.
However, his anxieties about the show reared anew soon after that. The reason behind that was that during his first table read with the rest of the cast members, he realized that he might have been wrong about the show after all.

Award shows don’t always get it right, and sometimes, they miss big. Just ask Courteney Cox. While Friends turned its entire cast into global superstars, Cox remained the only main star who was never even nominated for an Emmy. Despite anchoring some of the show’s most iconic moments, her portrayal of Monica Geller was consistently overlooked while her co-stars racked up accolades.
It’s a frustrating pattern that TV fans know all too well. In ensemble comedies, there’s always that one actor who gives everything, shapes the show’s heart, and still doesn’t get their due. A legendary character from Modern Family found himself in the same bittersweet situation.

Making a splash in the world of sitcoms isn’t the easiest thing to do, and not everyone can pull off the level of comedic elements that are required to make a sitcom successful. But brainbox producer cum writer Mike Schur, for one, impeccably proved he had what it took to make an affluent comedy series by curating an unforgettable masterpiece like Parks & Recreation.
Not only did he bring about a series that worked perfectly fine with its plots, but it was also one that had some of the best and most loved characters ever, portrayed by all the right actors. So, when it came to the casting choices, showrunner Schur even ostensibly made NBC hire an actor along with one other, both of whom made the series infinitely better.

Modern Family fans aren’t gonna like this! But the show that earned our love and appreciation is alleged to have gotten away with homophobic content. Yes, the same show that was groundbreaking in portraying a same sex couple as its central characters.
Well, it isn’t just the subtle homophobia that was pointed out by a fan. They also alleged that the sitcom had some racist and misogynistic content. Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd’s ABC sitcom followed the lives of the diverse Pritchett family.

Not every sitcom character is built for the spotlight, and no one knew that better than Parks and Recs creator Mike Schur. While fans once dreamed of a spinoff starring Jean-Ralphio and Mona Lisa Saperstein, the hilariously unhinged siblings, Schur wisely shut the idea down before it could derail the show’s legacy.
Apart from Parks and Recs, another popular sitcom, Modern Family, also got the idea of the character-driven spin-off. While both had devoted fan bases and enthusiastic cast members, neither project made it to air. Now, years later, we know why those ideas were ultimately shelved.

It’s time we — and three hundred thirty-five million other people — admitted that we are in a toxic relationship with Stranger Things. Every time we think the show will commit, it ghosts us.
Seriously, there’s “playing hard to get” with a season, and then there’s just straight-up torturing fans simply because Netflix can.
Coming in as the most frustratingly anticipated season of the series, Stranger Things Season 5 has taken three years to premiere. Three. Freaking. Years.

The audacity is astounding — it truly is. And we’ve been putting up with this for years. In case anyone has forgotten, Stranger Things Season 1 aired in 2016, almost a decade ago.
So, why should we even care about the final season of Stranger Things when the Earth has rotated around the Sun three times since the last season premiere?
In The Beginning, Everything Was Great with Stranger Things, and...
Seriously, there’s “playing hard to get” with a season, and then there’s just straight-up torturing fans simply because Netflix can.

The dark and complex season 2 of "The Last of Us" is upon us, and with it, the events of Naughty Dog's sequel video game "The Last of Us Part II" begin to unfold in glorious (and gory) live-action. The hit HBO show's sophomore season is set to introduce a number of new characters, many of whom accompany Abby Anderson (Kaitlyn Dever) on a very special mission -- one that fans of the video game are no doubt already awaiting.
One of the key players in Abby's team is Mel, a former Firefly and a capable medic. Mel's medical knowledge plays an important role in the game's events, and the way she combines her caring nature with a surprising capacity for violence makes her one of the most memorable members of Abby's squad.
In the video game, Mel is voiced by "Mythic Quest" star Ashly Burch. However, she doesn't reprise the role in the show.

Michael C. Hall is back and more brutal than ever in the official first set of images for Dexter: Resurrection. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen the actor in the role that won him a Golden Globe Award and even longer since fans were happy with where the plot was going. Hopefully, the sequel series will follow in the successful steps of the recently released prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, and give longtime viewers what they’ve been waiting for. Blending a lineup of new and old faces alike, the debut photos showcase the characters the titular vigilante serial killer will cross paths with when the show arrives later this year.
