The life of Spartacus, the gladiator who lead a rebellion against the Romans. From his time as an ally of the Romans, to his betrayal and becoming a gladiator, to the rebellion he leads and its ultimate outcome.
According to 'Steven DeKnight', the network wanted more of a 300 (2006) style of direction. This is why the pilot episode feels so out of place and the earlier episodes are uneven. DeKnight had to fight for control over the show.
Try not to cut too deeply.
Ilithyia: Legend does call for the blood of a *dead* gladiator...
In several episodes the use of the letter U, for example under the bust that Batiatus made for Spartacus, was seen. The letter U in Latin wasn't used in place of V as consonant until the Middle ages.
During the series run, each episode has shots from the season as the background while the credits roll. The pictures in the background vary depending on the season. The exception to this being the series finale where a montage of the characters are displayed.
