It’s a fairly packed month on Hulu this February thanks to the addition of some interesting TV shows from FX and ABC. While the streamer’s own original content is somewhat limited – Life + Beth is returning for season 2 – you can also catch the new series of Feud this month. The new installment in Ryan Murphy’s juicy anthology show is based on the bestseller Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer, and tells the story of Truman Capote’s betrayal and fall-out with New York’s most glamorous socialites. The cast is absolutely stacked, with Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny and Calista Flockhart all swearing delicious revenge on Tom Hollander’s Capote.
Also via Hulu in February comes the third season of Abbott Elementary, along with new episodes of The Connors, The Good Doctor, Will Trent,...

PlayStation, Warner Bros. Discovery Reach Licensing Agreement Allowing Users to Keep Purchased Shows
More than 1,300 titles were set to disappear from PlayStation libraries at December’s end, but a new deal means they’ll stay put for now.
There are still a few days before Christmas, but Sony and Warner Bros. Discovery are teaming up to give out early presents to PlayStation owners. Reversing an earlier announcement, Sony and Wbd agreed to a new licensing deal that will prevent titles like “Deadliest Catch,” “MythBusters” and 1,300 other Discovery shows from being deleted from PlayStation libraries.
Sony announced in early December that Discovery shows would be deleted from PlayStation libraries starting in late December. The titles were to be deleted thanks to an expired licensing agreement, even for users who had actually bought the shows from the PlayStation store. The new licensing agreement will keep those titles on PlayStation platforms for at least 30 months. 7-Day Free Trial $4.99+ / month discovery+ via amazon.com Why Were Wbd Shows...

Reversing an earlier announcement, Sony will no longer remove Discovery TV shows purchased by its consoles’ owners.
Fans of Cake Boss, Deadliest Catch (pictured) and Outrageous Acts Of Science rejoice: Sony has reversed a previous announcement that it was to delete a huge list of Discovery TV shows from PlayStation consoles.
In early December, Sony announced that “content licencing arrangements” meant that some 1,300 reality TV shows, dramas and documentaries were going to be deleted, irrespective of whether they were paid for by users.
Sony now says – as reported by GI.biz – that it has an “updated licencing agreement” with Warner Bros (which owns Discovery), meaning those shows will still be available to users for at least the next couple of years or so.
“Similar to other services, we do not own the licensing rights to TV/movie content that was previously available for purchase on PlayStation Store,” a statement from PlayStation reads.

Shows like ‘Cake Boss’ and ‘Naked and Afraid’ will soon be disappearing from your PlayStation library, whether you paid for it or not.
One of the worst changes brought on by the streaming revolution is the lack of content ownership. Digital purchases are highly convenient, allowing users to have their favorite show or movie available on-demand anywhere. The flipside of this coin is that often, customers who “buy” a show or movie digitally don’t actually own that content permanently.
A long list of Warner Bros. Discovery shows are being removed from PlayStation Network and the libraries of users who paid for them. The list includes popular titles like “Cake Boss,” “Deadliest Catch,” “Mythbusters,” and many more. “Content licencing arrangements” mean that Sony is to pull a huge list of Discovery TV shows from users’ PlayStation consoles this month.
Over the past few days, PlayStation owners have begun receiving emails to inform them that any content belonging to the TV company Discovery will be removed from their consoles by the end of December.
As reported by Eurogamer, PlayStation’s email cites “content licencing arrangements” as the reason for the deleted content, which includes a wealth of scripted TV dramas, reality shows and documentaries.
“As of 31 December 2023, due to our content licensing arrangements with content providers, you will no longer be able to watch any of your previously purchased Discovery content and the content will be removed from your video library,” the email reads. “We sincerely thank you for your continued support.”

For the next two months, Max will be the “one to watch” for AMC series.
On Friday, seven AMC shows will be available on the former HBO Max under a new category “AMC+ Picks on Max.” For the next 60 days, Max users can binge Seasons 1-7 of “Fear the Walking Dead,” the first seasons of “Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire” and “Dark Winds,” Seasons 1 and 2 of “Gangs of London,” Seasons 1-5 of “Ride with Norman Reedus,” Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of “A Discovery of Witches,” and Seasons 1-4 of “Killing Eve.”
The AMC series will be available on both the ad-free and ad-supported Max tiers, although they’ll be commercial-free for all Max users regardless of plan. They will exist on their own branded rail — until Halloween, which thematically feels appropriate for pretty much all of the migrating series.
It’s a win-win, something both companies were quick to point out in the August 28 announcement.

Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro is ready to return to the kitchen following a serious accident that saw his hand impaled three times, putting his future as a baker at risk. Valastro, best known for his work on TLC‘s Cake Boss and various spin-offs, including Next Great Baker and Kitchen Boss, spoke to Extra on Monday (August 14) about his injury, describing it as “pretty gruesome” and jokingly thanking God that he didn’t aspire to be a hand model. The freak accident happened in September 2020 while Valastro and his family were enjoying a game of bowling at their built-in bowling alley at their home in Montville, New Jersey. The chef’s right hand got trapped between the machine and the pinsetter (the device that sets the pins back into position), which impaled him three times between his ring finger and middle finger. Valastro has undergone a number of surgeries on his hand,...

We might be entering the dog days of summer but Hulu isn’t slowing down. The streamer’s list of new releases for August 2023 is a pretty impressive collection of content.
The biggest Hulu original this month is season 3 of true crime comedy Only Murders in the Building on Aug. 8. This time around Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd are joining the already-stacked cast that features Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. This season’s central murder appears to take place at a theater (outside the building) but I think we’ll let it slide.
That’s far from the only worthwhile original in August as Aug. 2 sees the premiere of the third and final season of superb comedy Reservation Dogs. That will be followed by South Korean sci-fi series Moving on Aug. 9, Solar Opposites season 4 on Aug. 14, and A Murder at the End of the World on Aug. 29. Of course,...

There have been a lot of figurative stones hurled toward Warner Bros. Discovery and its controversial CEO David Zaslav over the past year. From artists angry about their shows being removed from streaming platforms to questions about whether or not Zaslav and company actually understand the HBO brand that they inherited when Discovery purchased WarnerMedia last spring, the exec and his regime have taken it from all sides.
Much of that criticism has been warranted, but Zaslav has seemingly begun to chip into the reported $50 billion of debt taken on during the acquisition, Wbd did turn a slight streaming profit earlier this year, undoubtedly leading to many “I told you so”s across the industry.

Roku continued to see operating losses balloon in the fourth quarter to 249.9 million, even as net revenue for the quarter reached 867.1 million and total active accounts crossed 70 million users.
The operating losses represent a 1,270 percent decline compared to the previous year, when Roku reported operating income at 21.4 million during the holiday season. Despite the growing losses, Roku stock surged in after-hours trading by roughly 10 percent due to the company’s better-than-expected revenue performance, which analysts had expected to land closer to 803 million.
Total streaming hours for the quarter rose to 23.9 billion hours, a 23 percent year-over-year increase. Roku’s platform business continued to drive the majority of revenue while the device business — impacted by slower holiday sales — saw an 18 percent decline from the previous year.

Warner Bros Discovery has finally nailed down plans to go the Fast route. Last year — in between an intense bout of cancellations and titles being pulled from their streaming home on HBO Max — the company announced plans to explore a free ad-supported television option (Fast). During the company's third-quarter earnings call, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav made a point of saying that there's "a huge amount of content that's not even on [HBO Max/Discovery+] that's sitting with us that hasn't been put to monetize in the marketplace." In the spirit of cashing in, a new plan has been enacted. Over the next few months, 14 Warner Bros. branded Fast channels will arrive on Roku and Tubi.
Have you been longing to return to the days of cable television, with free TV shows being regularly interrupted by ads? Don't bother answering, because it's happening either way! The new Warner Bros Fast channels will feature popular titles including "Westworld,...

Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced that they would be licensing bundles of their shows to “third-party free, ad-supported streaming services”… and now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the details of a couple of those licensing deals. While Warner Bros. Discovery has been making the news a lot in recent months as they remove titles from their own HBO Max streaming service, content from the company is now set to reach both Tubi and Roku.
The Hollywood Reporter explains, “Tubi will add more than 225 free channels from Wbd and 14 WB-branded Fast channels, including the launch of three brand-specific channels, WB TV Reality, WB TV Series and WB TV Family, to feature some of Wbd’s popular content, including all seasons of Westworld, Raised by Wolves, Legendary, FBoy Island, The Nevers, Finding Magic Mike, Head of the Class and The Time Traveler’s Wife.” Warner Bros. Discovery titles will start showing up on Tubi in February.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s plan to distribute Westworld and other key shows via Fast channels has materialized.
Deals have been struck with Roku and Tubi to launch branded channels this year, bringing more than 2,000 hours of programs in total to each service.
Deadline had reported Wbd was likely to sell Westworld and other key titles to Fast channel providers in December, when it was pulled from HBO Max. That came amid a financial review of the HBO portfolio. Other shows, including The Nevers, Raised By Wolves and F-Boy Island were pulled at the same time, as Wbd CEO David Zaslav eyed new ways to monetize his catalog. Tubi noted The Nevers is included in its agreement.

When HBO and HBO Max canceled many of their shows and removed them from their streaming libraries, there were questions about whether they would see the light of day again.
Canceling projects is one thing, but making them unavailable to watch for the faithful fans who followed them isn't a good look.
According to Variety, deals have been closed to bring 2,000 hours of on-demand Warner Bros. Discovery movies and TV series to Roku Channel and Tubi.
Warner Bros. Discovery had hinted that these scrapped projects could materialize on third-party Fast channels.
Westworld, The Nevers, Raised by Wolves, FBoy Island, Legendary, Finding Magic Mike, Head of the Class, and The Time Traveler's Wife were among the shows purged from HBO Max.
The Nevers hadn't even finished its freshman season, with the second half having never been aired on HBO or HBO Max.

Warner Bros. Discovery is finally going Fast — in stages.
Before the company, formed from the April 2022 merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, Inc., launches its own free, ad-supported streaming television app, some of Wbd’s owned content — like “Westworld,” “F-Boy Island,” and more — will be packaged into Warner Bros.-branded Fast channels on The Roku Channel and Fox’s Tubi. The channels will launch in February on Tubi, and this “spring” on The Roku Channel.
We do not have a target date for Wbd’s own standalone Fast app, but a person with knowledge of the plans tells IndieWire it is still coming.
“The Bachelor,” “Cake Boss,” and “Say Yes to the Dress” are among the other popular TV series coming to The Roku Channel and Tubi. Lots of library material — about 2,000 hours’ worth — including 90 movies, will also migrate to those free services. Warner Bros. Discovery owns the HBO, HBO Max,...

I don’t know if it’s just because my mother is a semi-professional baker but a highlight every year, when my birthday comes around, is that cake I will be having! I have had gravity-defying midget gems cake, a cake dedicated to my idol and queen of morning television Lorraine Kelly and a giant Reese’s peanut butter cup all of which more only looked incredible but also tasted amazing! Due to a combination in the rise of popularity of shows such as Great British Bake Off and the lockdowns situation we as a nation have recently endured, there had been a rise in the number of people who have decided to take up baking as a hobby/business. This in turn means that there is a greater need for baking competition shows as the pool of potential contestants is constantly expanding. Any person who wants to create a...
