  • Today i was sitting in front of TV. so i saw this movie. i didn't expect that i am gonna complete this movie. since i saw a low rating. in starting it has some lags. but later its become interesting. the story of a young man struggling with his career. and surrounded with corrupt peoples. the comedy of this movie was okay. but the thrill was great. i enjoyed the movie. though, despite the bad direction. i enjoyed the movie. since its a remake. can't except much. but there are other remakes in bollywood which are very very stupid. and they are hitting cinema's with name of BLOCKBUSTER. then why don't this movie. this is because of the lead of actor of this movie has lower stardom.

As per my analysis i saw Indians taste. so horrible. go watch this movie. its good.

    Comedy: 6/10 Thriller:9/10 Acting:7/10 Music:6/10

    Overall:7/10 . do the math :p

I think this is one of the few movies where Akshay Kumar is absolutely hilarious and in his element in a comic role. He has acted really well, playing the middle class contractor in a small time Indian town. Another character who is priceless in this is Rajpal Yadav. As the sidekick to the contractor sahib, he is a riot with his comic timing. With the two of them in the lead roles, this movie keeps you laughing for quite a bit. Yes, the movie tends to get a bit long, but that is not unlike any other Hindi movie. Trisha isn't very convincing in her role and does look a bit artificial. The first half of the movie has most of the laughs when the character of Akshay Kumar is introduced to the film goers. One sees how he is a struggling contractor, made fun of at home by his elder brothers. He however refuses to give into all this negativity and realizes that his brothers are not doing the right thing and are crooks. The second half of the movie is a bit more serious where one sees Akshay come to his senses and do the right thing by his father and his sister. Overall a nice watch.

This movie is very underrated, it is very uncommon for a film in Bollywood to cover so many genres in a one single movie, I don't like mainstream Bollywood movies but this. this movie is perfect. backed up with awesome comedy, satire, action and superb acting by all the actors, this movie is off the level. i don't know why it is rated very low and i feel sorry for the people who don't like this movie and rather watch typical Bollywood crap, akshay kumar, rajpal yadav and several other supporting cast has done very well, this movie depicts the condition of our government offices and workers quite well, it is surprising for a movie in Bollywood to show a serious topic of society with comedy in it.

Akshay and director Priyadarshan are back. Not a remake of the old 1978 'Khatta Meetha' in which Ashok Kumar and Rakesh Roshan portrayed. Its struggling road construction contractor, Sachin Tichkule ( i.e. Akshay Kumar) who dreams much Big and Dooms Big. There is almost no chance ever that his doom dreams will come true, its for reason because he has no money for bribe! and so that's the reason for his backwardness in his work and area, after this problem the one bigger problem is there and that is, the new Municipal Commissioner turns out to be his ex- girlfriend (Trisha Krishnan) who hates Sachin Tichkule. (This movie is Trisha's Bollywood Debut) Khatta Meetha will go you taking from one disaster with Sachin Tichkule to another and another. In a light hearted way Khatta Meetha reveals the badness and corruption of the government sector, the extent of corruption and bribery which is just stuck in the system. (The scene where the road roller bumps into the house reminds me of the Malgudi days episode where the lead character wins a road roller as a bumper prize in lottery). The comedy revolves around the circumstances of the Sachin and his firm will.

7* for good laughter and the serious topic showcased in a comical way.

It's a good movie to watch, simple and realistic. Kuch khatta and kuch meetha. The film is almost same as the original Malayalam movie. Acting by Akshay kumar is outstanding. Trisha is not that bad. Songs are good. I read many reviews before watching the movie, most of them negative. I don't know what the problem with this movie is. I loved this movie compared to some big budget movies released recently. It's better than Akshays house full also. Common man will like this movie. Its mixture of some good comedy and serious drama. Johny lever, Rajpal and Asrani were superb. Excellent camera work and art direction. The locations are really good.Time pass and paisa vasool
  • This one takes the cake. The story is told in such a reckless manner that it made me cringe. Character development is non existent. Editing is very choppy. I just could not make my self care for the characters.

The only good point was that most of the cast tried very hard, but the script was so disjointed that in the you just wanted it to end.

The sad thing is that the basic story line had potential but i felt that the script writer and the director were drunk or stoned or both while filming this mess.

In the end let me just say that the basic story is very thought provoking and emotional, but sadly it was not handled right. It felt as if the people making it were in a rush to complete the movie and did not properly exploit the potential.

This could have been a good film in more capable and sensitive hands.

The film was awesome and funny. Priyadarshan's all Hindi films are remake of Malayalam films. This was the remake of Vellanakalude Naadu. The film had so many funny moments.
  • OK so its starring akshay kumar and thats only the plus point of the movie... i seriously DON'T agree with all the positive reviews for this *beep* movie... no story.. no script just trying way too hard to make it funny and failing at every step to do so...totally BS comedy.. the director himself doesn't know if he is making a serious or comedy movie?? the acting was awful... i wished i had slapped johnny lever for the *beep* performance he gave.. the new actress tanish or whatever her name was also awful..

please don't waste your money or your time on this Total BS *beep* film...
  • This is an amazing movie that shows what really happens in the Bureaucracy and how this nation is being looted by unholy public private alliance. It has perfect blend of comedy, drama, romance, and hundred percent succeeds in telling us how the honest people have to suffer. Priyadarshan has succeeded to include comedy to not make it a serious plot and hats off to him to get the message through in a light way. I'm at a loss of logic why this movie should not be a hit. In my view this is a world class movie and brilliant acting done by all and of course Akshay has proved he can handle any kind of role thrown at him.

And shame on Indian masses for liking the useless rubbish of srk, salman, and aamir but not this gem of a movie.
  • After The Release of the movie, all the reviews written for "Khatta Meetha" is far different from this one. This one's a bit introvert but that doesn't mean that this review is better than other ones. Review is a series of sentences in which a critic puts down his emotions & personal thought on the film. This one's also like that. Usually, people go to theaters to watch a Priyadarshan flick only to enjoy to some good comedy(yes comedy, not humor. Humor is "Tere Bin Laden"). And when Akshay Kumar's with Priyadarshan, it always promises hilarious scenes, very funny dialogues & The Entertainment Machine "Akshay Kumar" Himself. This time not only does Akshay Kumar acts in A Priyan Movie but also produces it.

Watching the over-humorous promos of "Khatta Meetha", one will run to theaters only to experience bellyache r comedy by The most famous comedians like Akki, Rajpal Yadav , Johnny Lever, Asrani & many Others. But this one's not based on comedy only. Ya, it's not a comic caper. Also you can't believe it to be a satire by watching the video of the song "Bullshit". Then What is Khatta Meetha based on? - Khatta Meetha is a brave and honest attempt on the politics behind road construction and pool projects in our country. But the extraordinary comedy in it will also indicate it as a fultoo comedy movie. So, balancing on the two boats, Khatta Meetha starts it journey and its success surely depends on how viewers will take it as.

The Story covers on Sachin Tichkule(Akshay Kumar), A Hard-struggling Road contractor whose dream is to get pool & shopping-mall projects. He also thinks much for his work-force where the most naughty one is Rangeela(Rajpal Yadav). But the work-force being not so skillful & many impious works by Sachin results to his road to success full of pot- holes. Not only that, his college love-interest Gehna Ganphule(Trisha Krishnan) comes to town being the municipal commissioner who's payback with Sachin troubles Sachin more. Also Karodimal(Asrani) is after Sachin for his money and interest. But the main sorrow in his life is when his parents are not beside him, his brother-in-laws Trigun Fatak(Manoj Joshi), Suhas Vichare(Milind Gunaji) & his elder brother Harish always exploit him because professionaly he's a nincompoop. But The Story catches other line when Priyadarshan makes us realize that Sachin's Brother-in-law duo & Harish is terribly involved in dirty politics which has mercy for nothing. From here, the main storyline continues.

Usually, Priyadarshan movies only make us laugh too much but this one's very different from his older works because beside making us laugh beating the chair handles, it also shows the shameful politics and the ultra violence and the severity that politics involves. That's why it will be much 'Kadhwa' for many people and hard to digest.

Akshay Kumar's always the main attraction and he always keeps the respect for that dignity. His comedy timings, expressions, dialogue throwing and serious acting in some scenes - everything will make the whole cineplex whistle and clap and also beat the cuisines where the audiences are sitting themselves. Which reminds me that this film has some good dialouges which were never before heard and expected in Priyadarshan's Comic Movie Making tradition. Trisha is not bad but it fells that she is underestimated in the whole movie. She would have done better if her role was shown important in the movie. Urvashi, Manoj Joshi, Milind Gunaji, Neeraj Vora, Aruna Irani, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Makrand Deshpande everyone were fare. But the ones who snatch the eyeballs were Rajpal Yadav, Asrani in their comic best; Johnny Lever as a cameo and Hot Kainaat Arora in the party song of the year "Aila Re Aila".

Music Was not so good except the funny satiric "Bullshit" & "Aila Re Aila". The most beautiful song the movie "Sajda" was changed from K.K. to a Roop Kumar Rathore Version. Anyway, It's disappointing Pritam.

Now if I come to the negative sides then, This film doesn't contain a straight and particular plot. Many attempts like the Road-Roller scene, Karodimal's house decoration and some more like that will make u laugh in the theaters but returning home, when u will think about the movie the foregoing scenes will feel like unnecessary. This film has many thing to tell in only 160 minute duration. But if you watch the film cool-minded then maybe it will not feel unwell to you otherwise you will be willing for the film to end not taking any more pressure in mind.

The final word for "Khatta Meetha" is that if you are a die-hard Akshay or Akshay's comic talent fan, then this one's only for you. Don't Go on its looks or promos, this one's very different than its hilarious promos and has a strong concept in it which could have been used much better. But allover, if you support my views then don't miss this one if you wanna have a good time in the theaters long after "3 Idiots".
  • My advice if you want to have a good laugh watch the trailer only, if you want to watch a good bollywood film watch WANTED, 3 IDIOTS or one AMITHAB's CLASSICS. please spare yourself misery.

What was the director thinking when producing this? Lets see, will put some comedy and a message and will mix it together and it will work.

Normally it would if the two ideologies do not clash so much, if you want to put a message through you would need a level of humour that is fit for purpose, slight humour not over the top or as I would describe pathetic

When Kulbushan challenged Akshay and said I have not got the money to fulfil your sisters dreams and get her marriage you earn the money otherwise I will have to do as others will have to say. You think okay the director is going to do something bring about a change to Akshay Kumar's character- does that happen, NO, instead the film goes from worse to awful when his sister dies and Akshay does nothing except for act really bad in the ending scene when Kulbushan is now proud of his dumb stupid pathetic son, akshay. Akshay can only say a few stupid lines to the ladies of the house and even these he cannot deliver without you wanting him to kick up the rear.

The director and akshay Kumar should think about what they want to achieve and realise that its possible to do it but it will ruin the film and If it will ruin the film it is not worthwhile.

Akshay Kumar move away from comedy its impairing your vision as you appear to think that this sort of film is a granted hit.

I have hard core fans of Akhsay Kumar and they rated this film 2 as it has AKSHAY KUMAR in the film. If 0 was possible that would be my vote.
  • I am rating it a 10 because it is under rated.

First of all, it is very funny. Those actors know how to be funny. There were two funny scenes that I had to watch more than once. The father's painting got blackened, and the guy who got all mixed during his two phone conversations. I also laughed hard when the road roller was running backward. The chicken music was also funny when it was used during the bathroom peeking scene.

It is amazing that even though the Indian economy is not as good as China's, but their filmmakers are making impressive realistic films about bureaucracy than any Chinese directors can ever make! I am certain that these kinds of things are happening in mainland China right now, bridges collapsing, roads that need to be fixed constantly due to corruption, etc. However, Chinese film directors can never make any films like this one due to communist censorship. This is another film which Chinese directors should all watch, and make one of their own.

Here are a few famous quotes that I wrote down.

    1. So if you are benefiting from it, then let us reap some benefits as well. If we benefit the country will progress, who cares about the country's progress? We are the country.

    2. Only dishonest and cheat people can lie peacefully in this country.

    3. I am allergic to bullshit. Minister's lecture.- bullshit. He'll give food to everyone. bullshit. We will drink clean water, bullshit.

We have the power in our hands and legs. We are not less than anyone. O thorn of the country listen to me. Why do you fill your pockets? If he gets a chance, he'll sell the whole country.

New roads and bridges will be built, bullshit. We won't get stuck in the traffic, bullshit. The work will be done on time, bullshit.
  • I think movie is good . I accept it contains some spoiler but its an entertainment movie. I am a big fan of akshay & he didn't disappointed me(he's one of the great actors from bollywood ) . But i feel movie could made it more better may be some more actions at the end. People gives the false review becoz the promotion was like the movie was full of comedy but its not. I am happy that priyan sir made a good movie with akshay & i hope in future he could do more better.

Akshay's acting was superb he's speechless he's totally was in the character of sachin tichkuley, i love the movie and one actor who's acting surprises me is rajpal yadav(Rangeela) he's brilliant.

At the end it is a good movie, a simple and clear family flick my rating is 7/10........

What is this? Do we call it as movie? Bad Script terrible acting all over the movie. I thought of watching this movie, knowing that Akshay Kumar stars here with the direction of Priyadarshan. To be frank with you I must tell that this is the worst movie I watched directed by Priyadarshan. We expected a lot more from a such a great director.

Akshay Kumar is a great actor especially with comedy. Jaan-E-Mann , HouseFull, Garam Masala are some of the best comedies he acted displaying a great talent. I wonder acting in this type of movies would jeopardize his reputation. There is no continuity in this movie, scenes are not much related. There are only some comic incidents that makes us laugh. That's the only thing I see as the bright side of this movie. Simply don't waste your time on this.

i absolutely loved this movie i thought it had a great plot and i loved the part when the real villain died brutally i felt happy. by seeing this movie it proved that priyadarshan is one of the best directors of this amazing yet super yet fantastic yet outstanding yet excellent etc... the actors the acting was superb and i liked the lead heroine trisha krishanan she handled her role very very well. it was unfortunate that the roles of johnny lever and asrani were short but they were funny cause they are classic. there was only one bloody scene. the evergreen superstar of this movie akshay kumar the legend to be known once again acted tremendously and i want to recommend this to any age cause this is a really great movie to watch especially at your local movie cinemas i persuade you personallly to watch this especially with your loving family and/or friends.

This movie is hundred times better than "Three Idiots" which is a scum of a movie that is a disgrace to India and Indians. Akshay Kumar is never known for his acting nor does he care to be considered one, But this actor can hold a screen and embellish other actors with his charm for comedy in the face of adversity or downright tragedy. The characters are very familiar, akin to R.K Lakshman Cartoons. Several scenes are so real like the laborers not getting paid, the "Madam" in the bank who goes by the rules, the laborers cooking rice in the back yard of the rich family etc. The "Road Roller" scene is just pure mirth. This scene reminds me of mechanics in India or anywhere who are trusted to fix something and end up dismantling and demanding money to put it back. If we can laugh at ourselves and at the end get few white pearls out of it, we will prosper as a Nation instead of demeaning the Nation and it's Citizens as in "Three Idiots". What We is need more Priyadarshan's than Aamir Khan's.

**This review contains MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD**

The film came highly recommended from friends and family, a true portrayal of "the common man's struggle" against bureaucracy. I rented this on high hopes of wanting to appreciate and like Akshay Kumar's effort as a comedian, but alas! I should have known better.

Sachin Tichkule- a sad parody of an uncommon man.

In college he punches his sweetheart cause she didn't want to live up to HIS ideals of protesting and striking by refusing to give her exams cause she came from a poor family unlike him and did not wish to spoil her future. In other words by politically rallying and not by trying to secure their future via education can today's youth hope to enlighten this country. - Later in the movie she tries to commit suicide when he frames her for accepting a bribe from him, and miraculously FORGIVES this man when he lays a terrible sob story on her.

In his employment he has a construction worker who repeatedly is caught spying on women, teasing them and lying every chance he gets, yet even after a police complaint the workers isn't kicked off the job. He's shown as a confidant and "friend" of Tichkule, complete with song and dance routines!

Tichkule borrows money constantly, consistently and is never once shown repaying his loans or even feeling repentant that he owes so many people (from his workers and servants as well!) nor ever offers them any assurance that he will keep his word on repayment. Yet you have violins and empathy-inducing saddy tunes playing when he starts to get on his soap-box to wax eloquent about corruption!

He literally destroys a man's house (granted it was not deliberate- but then are these things ever!?), desecrates another man's property, lives in his parents household yet never once is shown helping them out with running the household, never once apologies for the blight he is and yet is shown to take the moral high-ground in front of all and sundry the chance he gets!

His sister is about to be married off to a corrupt politician and on a long sermon from his father about money preceding ideals (which the poor man had to give after being repeatedly humiliated by his son's actions and listening to his other well-off son/son-in-law's taunts) this jackass Tichkule goes back to the money lender he owes lakhs already and in an epic fail at comedic circus asks for...... wait for it........ MORE MONEY!!! *gasp*

Priyadarshani should retire and instead spend the zillions he wasted in this garbage on other worthwhile efforts- like actually building schools and hospitals.

This was an insult to the rest of us common men and women who do in fact struggle daily trying live by honest means.

    Awful
Need a tablet for headache. Did not enjoy one bit of this film.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Akshay Kumar was a terrible actor from 1997-1999 as his 12 films completely bombed at the box office. But, after Singh is King from 2008, he's been giving flops till Housefull from 2010. However, his next hit was Desi Boys and now he is back with a super hit from Housefull 2. This film was from his lean phase. It is a complete garbage though better than some brainless comedy films. However, the corrupt Indian government and politics has no absolute connection with Akki's problems in the film. There are 2 problems in the film and they don't seem to have any connection. A final action sequence wraps everything up and the ending is typical where the villain dies and the hero heroine unite and the parents are no longer angry with their son. Every character displays some average to decent comedy but the whole movie seems like a bunch of comic one liners and no story. Even an awful comedy film should have a story which this somewhat contains. Though, there is no flow in the story and after a bit, it seems like the director is trying his best to just make you laugh which fails as well as some jokes are just stupid. On the whole, this film is terrible but it was still better than TMK.
  • I am not sure why this movie is under rated over here. It is actually a very good movie. It is funny in parts but overall very serious and practical movie. I think the movie is under-rated because people might have watched the movie thinking it as full-on comedy movie like previous Akshay and Priyadarshan movies as it was advertised like that, but in reality it is funny only in bits and parts, while main plot covers the subject of corruption.

Acting wise Akshay as always is awesome in both funny and serious roles at different stages of the movie. Rajpal and Johny lever also did justice to their roles. Both the actresses, Trisha and Urvashi does not have long role throughout the movie and only appear in gaps but whenever they appear they are pleasant to watch.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Priyadarshan made good dramatic films like GARDISH and VIRASAT before shifting to comedy which became his forte but off recent his films got repetitive, he tried to do other kinda cinema like Aakrosh which flopped too. Khatta Meetha was Akki-Priyan's subsequent release after the average De Dana Dan, which was a comedy this is a satire and tries to be different but ends being a mayhem. Priyan had given Akshay's career a filip with Garam Masala which was the film that made him famous in comedies and became a hit but sadly off recent their pairing became not too successful. This film is a remake of Priyan's Vellanakalude Nadu (1988) as in most of his films. It tries hard to be serious in the second half but comes as a farce. In fact the script is of convenience, It's hardly logical, The drama in the house is so 80s like, it's hard to digest Akshay's corrupt nature is inconsistent, One fails to understand if he is corrupt then why his corrupt brother in laws don't support him? Lot of loopholes, anyway finding logic in Priyan's films is rare The film is very predictable, loud as usual and gets irritating Trisha's character is even more confusing, her change of heart looks too sudden. The second half gets dramatic and does get a bit engaging towards the end but it's less to undo the harm

Priyan handles some scenes well especially comedy scenes and dramatic scenes too but it's getting boring now, But the scene in Asrani's house, the climax fight between Akshay and Jaideep are well handled Music is okay, Sajde is the best song, rest are forced

Akshay Kumar tries hard to look a commonman and does well but does tend to scream and overdo too often too much. Trisha fails as an actress, she doesn't look a municipal commissioner Amongst rest mostly regulars of Priyan films Rajpal Yadav does his same role it's getting boring, Asrani is as usual, Johny Lever does invoke laughter in a small role, Manoj Joshi is loud, Milind Gunaji has too brief a role, Khulbushan Kharbanda is okay, Aruna Irani seen after a hiatus is wasted, Makrand gets no role, Jaideep is amazing, Urvashi last seen in NAQAAB is okay
  • I don't know why a very few comedies get good ratings in IMDb. I will say 'Khatta Meetha' is too much underrated as this is going with only 5.8/10 rate! What is absent in this movie? This is not a one-time-watch. This is not a mindless comedy. Under a comic stream built by Akshay, Asrani, Rajpal & Johny Lever, there goes a fight for justice of Makrand Deshpandey against the corrupted ministers, politicians to engineers. Really awesome screenplay & dialogues make you stick to the seat & laugh at every word. As the movie proceeds to the end, suspence condenses more. Will Makrand Deshpandey ultimately win over those corrupts or the system will listen to the corrupts. Find answer through the movie. Makrand Deshpandey appears for almost 10 minutes & he rocked. Akshay is as usually brilliant in 'humour', 'satire', 'slapsticks' & a cute small romantism. Rajpal & Johny Lever's combo is really great to see. Asrani entertains every time especially in that 'telephone scene'. Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Manoj Joshi, Tinu Anand, Aruna Irani, Neeraj Vohra & others have done the appropriate acting. Trisha struggles at the 'hindi' that affects much her expressions. Urvashi Sharma does good. Music by Pritam is good for your ears especially 'Sajde kiye hai'. Every thing of the movie is good except the average rating. It deserves more. I expected 7.3 to 7.6 out of 10.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I watched Khatta Meetha this weekend. I was totally disappointed. There were too many plots and sub plots. 1. The sister's treatment and death was handled very badly.

    2. Akshay's character and his family are supposed to be based in 'satara'. Most of the characters, like his dad, himself and the sister talk in heavy 'punjabi' accent...there was just no authenticity in the movie.

    3. When the road roller breaks Trisha's house, beyond that one scene, there was no feeling of despair and a couple of scenes later the house is totally intact, like nothing happened to it.

I like Trisha in the Tamil movies, but here she could barely act or emote.

    Overall a very disappointing flick.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Priyadarshan returns with his old bunch of buddies and same old tricks which by now should be registered under the name of the director as his unique trademark. Putting together few good comedy sequences and then relating them to the corrupt administrative and political system without any basic storyline is a gist of this latest flick offered to us by the veteran. Remaking his own 1988 Malayalam movie, "Vellanakalude Naadu", it seems that the director and his writing team think that they are purely invincible and can go on delivering mediocre products like these to the Hindi Film viewers at frequent intervals.

So, once again we are made to witness a directionless film which is supposed to be a comic satire featuring the famous icon Akshay Kumar. And in all possibilities Akshay will be the only person who will have to face the unfavourable consequences of this weak flick placed on his broad shoulders in this crucial time of his career.

Interestingly the initial half an hour of the movie is pretty good which introduces every character in a fine way and you start liking the new background of government contractors and builders. Akshay completely transforms himself into the role of 'A Munshi' type of character holding his money bag, files and umbrella together. Along with him, both Asrani and Rajpal Yadav come up with few enjoyable sequences in the first half which are able to generate some laughter in the theater.

But after this, what happens can easily be described as a dish whose smell was delicious but the taste was bad. Post its first hour, the movie starts revolving in a circle with confrontation scenes and dialogues repeating themselves and several unwanted plots being added into the narration carrying no entertainment value. In its later part the film actually falls flat due to three main weak points which are both written and directed very casually.

Firstly it's the lifeless love-hate relationship angle between Akshay (the unsuccessful contractor) and Trisha (the Municipal Officer). There is neither any chemistry nor any feel in their story of the past or the present. Moreover the dress designer of Trisha remains pretty confused between her Office get up and the glamorous one. Hence the movie completely fails in its romance part.

Secondly, Priyadarshan's handling of Akshay's sister's character is simply below standards and insensitive. The whole plot of her getting married to the most corrupt politician and then sexually exploited and even killed by her husband is treated in a very hasty manner without any emotional touch. The writers simply move on after her death to the other sub-plots of the script as they were to catch some train in order to reach their homes in time.

And lastly it's the concluding part of the movie in which everything falls in place just like that and Akshay emerges as the good son of the family as expected. In fact Priyadarshan ends the movie like he was forced to do it by the producers in a given length and time.

Besides these, there are songs jumping in from no-where, having nothing to do with the script as usual and actor of the caliber of Johny Lever called in only for one particular scene to add some face value. Pritam's music doesn't rise above the routine and both Cinematography & Art- Direction remind you of many previous movies of the director.

On the performance scale, Akshay is good but its time he should look at his projects half way down the lane to know how they are shaping up. Now he cannot go on relying on the directors alone and will have to put in his own creative inputs to save his huge image. Trisha is just there and not at all impressive in her confusing get ups and acting. The film also wastes a lot of talent in minor roles like Aruna Irani, Makrand Deshpande, Tinnu Anand, Neeraj Vora, Milling Gunaji and Johny Lever. Manoj Joshi keeps shouting as seen many times before in all Priyadarshan comedies. Urvashi in the role of Akshay's sister is OK but the actor playing her corrupt husband shows talent.

In all the film keeps hanging between two different genres of comedy and drama. And there are only three people in it, who give you something to enjoy along with Akshay Kumar namely, Rajpal Yadav, Johny Lever and the one & only Asrani. So you can easily wait for its Home Video release and then simply fast forward the rest of the movie to see all the funny sequences featuring these three actors in "Khatta Meetha". That's all the movie has to offer to the fans of Akshay and his comedy genre.

In the end, I would sincerely like to request Mr. Priyadarshan to please take a break for some time and try to give us another VIRAASAT or HERA PHERI soon.

Priyadarshan's 'Khatta Meetha' is a Below Average fare, that suffers from poor writing. It fails to become a satisfactory comic satire in every aspect.

'Khatta Meetha' is a yet another flick that goes on to say that 'Honesty' always wins, and 'Dishonesty' doesn't. How the truth still weighs tons more than lies. Been-There-Done-That Stuff!

The film begins well, but loses the grip completely after a point. The second hour holds scant appeal, and one gets lazy till it reaches it's culmination. The writing is bland, and as mentioned, fails to become a satisfactory comic satire. Priyadarshan's direction is just about okay.

Acting wise, Akshay Kumar does well, but he's repeating himself. Trisha Krishnan doesn't impress. Rajpal Yadav & Makrand Deshpande are very good. Urvashi Sharma is wasted. Kulbhushan Kharbanda is alright. Johnny Lever manages to bring in a few laughs. Manoj Joshi, Milind Gunaji & Jaideep Ahlawat ham. Neeraj Vora gets zero scope.

On the whole, A disappointment by all means. Thumbs Down!
