Arthur Curry, the human-born heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, goes on a quest to prevent a war between the worlds of ocean and land.
Djimon Hounsou has appeared in the DC extended universe as King Ricou in Aquaman, as the titular wizard in Shazam and also in Constantine as Midnite. In the Marvel Movie Universe Djimon was Korath in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. He also voiced T'Challa in the animated version of Black Panther.
Jules Verne once wrote: "Put two ships in the open sea, without wind or tide... they will come together". That's how my parents met: like two ships destined for each other.
At the climax of one of the fights between Arthur and Orm, the crowd celebrates looking down while both fighters are above them.
The Warner Brothers logo is sunk and half-buried at the bottom of the ocean, reflecting Atlantis's history.
The UK theatrical version was cut to remove bloody detail to secure a 12A rating. That version was also used for the home media release.
