When Atlanna throws her trident at the TV, it's showing Stingray (1964), Gerry Anderson's British children's TV puppet underwater adventure series that featured an antagonist of the Fishmen, who similarly ruled an underwater domain in conflict the surface world. One member of the aquatic dwellers though was the mute Marina latterly in cahoots with - and love interest to 'Stingray' craft commander - the surface.
