Arthur Curry, the human-born heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, goes on a quest to prevent a war between the worlds of ocean and land.
Principal photography began in Australia on May 2, 2017. Most of the film was shot at Village Roadshow Studios in Gold Coast, Queensland, with production also held in Canada, Italy and Morocco, and wrapped on October 21, 2017.

The trident of Atlan was said to have been forged with steel from Poseidon. In the movie, the trident was cast. Princess Mera continues using the term "forged" when relating the history even after seeing the broken mold.
The Warner Brothers logo is embedded in a sea bed.
The UK theatrical version is cut to remove bloody detail to secure a 12A rating.
