Amber Heard declared in an interview on Good Morning America (1975) that she would read books between takes and that Jason Momoa would purposely rip out their pages so she would pay attention to him. Eventually, her reading material was kept in a special book bag made of "green screen" fabric, which allowed her to keep her books close even when filming special effects shots.
Jules Verne once wrote: "Put two ships in the open sea, without wind or tide... they will come together". That's how my parents met: like two ships destined for each other.
When Queen Atlanna has her first view of the surface world, she acts like the cliche "ignorant savage," stabbing a television as if it's a foul demon. But we soon learn that she's from a world which is far advanced beyond anything we've ever known. A 1980s-level television should be as primitive and unremarkable to her as Thomas A. Edison's original phonograph is to us.
The closing credits are a montage of models of the film's characters, locations and scenes.
The UK theatrical version was cut to remove bloody detail to secure a 12A rating. That version was also used for the home media release.
