Zoë Kravitz started writing Blink Twice under the original working title Pussy Island in 2017. Kravitz intended on keeping this title for the film but a negative reception from the MPAA, women, and theaters led to her change it.
In one scene Lucas (Levon Hawke) holds an "original Hattori" knife said to be made in Okinawa. Levon's mother is Uma Thurman, star of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), which is referenced in this scene.
Early on when Frida is viewing her phone there's a quick glimpse of a viral video of Lenny Kravitz doing an ab workout in the gym. He's the father of Zoë Kravitz, the director/writer of this movie.
The gala scenes were filmed at the Museo Soumaya, in Mexico City.
